  1. Glandular fever

Hi Drew, Thanks for the input. The garlic thing would be *way* too left-field for this individual :-) but I'll keep it in mind! Cheers Rob
  2. Through-the-day Practices

I don't know, I can't do it At the moment, for me, it's about following the breath further - using it as a tool to bring more awareness to the pelvic region. Cheers Rob
  3. Through-the-day Practices

Hi, Sorry for the delay - away on holiday. I'm afraid you're going to be a bit disappointed by my replies anyway - it's all plain vanilla stuff that you'll find all over the place around here :-) - Belly breathing esp inc awareness of breath in the pelvic floor area I've done various different types of diaphragmatic breathing - expanding the belly and lower ribs etc to facilitiate breathing and keeping the upper chest relatively still. New to me, although probably not to anyone who knows what they are talking about, is the idea of extending that expansion down into the pelvic region. Down, down, deeper and down (as Status Quo would have said) - spinal suspension Crown up : Tail bone down : spine elongated and slightly stretched inbetween the two. From my background it's pure BKF via my Tai Chi teacher. - feeling my weight supported by the earth as I walk. Shaking my weight down. I can't remember when I first came across this. Years ago. But this is one of the things that KAP is doing so well for me - integrating a whole bunch of things I've come across into a coherent practice. For me, right now, it's about connecting with an Earth feeling as I move around during the day. Feeling supported and in my place. Nothing specifically energetic in a meridian/energy flow sense. The shaking is working for me in the sense of releasing tension as well as feeling the bounce and recoil of my movements against the ground thus increasing my awareness of my relationship to it as a supporting body. Cheers Rob
  4. Through-the-day Practices

Hi All, I'm mid-KAP1 and the things I'm trying to bring to my day-to-day at the moment are: - Belly breathing esp inc awareness of breath in the pelvic floor area - spinal suspension - feeling my weight supported by the earth as I walk. Shaking my weight down. I've done few other bits and pieces before. Some of the things we've done so far in KAP have just emphasised the things I should have been doing from BKFs nei gong. 'Making your warrior walk your everyday walk' is the thing I think - great thread idea! Cheers Rob
  5. KAP

Dear Santi & Susan, I'm glad your visit to the UK went well. I'd be interested to read any comments about the seminar in general. I'd have liked to make it myself but not possible this time. I did try and 'tune in' on Saturday night (I have no idea how to do that) and seemed to get a lot of tingling around my crown point, a sense of light in the forehead and a strong, strong straightening stretch in my neck/cervical spine. I don't know if it was you guys or not. It was good though and outside of the usual parameters of my normal breathing practice Cheers Rob
  6. School For Warriors

I've already written on here about my take on BFD - you can search if you wish. Cheers Rob
  7. Opening up the leg meridians.

Hi, I practice standing and dissolving as per BKF. I felt similarly in that most of the duration of my standing sessions would be taken up with areas around the head and shoulder girdle and less time would be left for the pelvis, legs and feet. I asked my teacher about this and he told me not to worry about it - that my attention would naturally be drawn to the areas where work needed to be done at that time. This has proved to be the case (even with my patchy practice schedule). Now there are sessions where I seem to skim over the upper body and end up spending much more time on the pelvis and legs. I've aslo started to notice that dissolving areas around the head, neck and shoulders can cause openings/relaxations on the same side of the body but lower down, in the kua and legs. Cheers Rob
  8. Hi, I've read somewhere that, in these cases, it is fine to charge for your time (however, you choose to value it) - charging for the healing/instruction etc is a different matter. Cheers Rob
  9. Dealing with negative people.

Try flipping the situation in your head. Be grateful - this situation means that you will have no qualms about leaving - setting up on your own. Following your path. Imagine what a nightmare it would be to have a home where you loved to be and people were always pleased to see you and you all revelled in each others company. You would have no incentive to go a-wandering at all! Always harder to get out of a warm bed! One way to look at it. Cheers Rob
  10. GLOBAL SHAKTIPAT EMPOWERMENT & HEALING

I now suspect I was being a bit dim and should have asked to join before the 'transmission' time. If the opportunity is offered again - that's what I'll try. Cheers Rob
  11. GLOBAL SHAKTIPAT EMPOWERMENT & HEALING

Sorry to be a pain but can you advise how I access the chat after the broadcast time? The link joins me to the chat but no window opens. Rob
  12. GLOBAL SHAKTIPAT EMPOWERMENT & HEALING

Hi, Will this run for 24hrs following the date/time above? I seem to remember that was the case with the last shaktipat that was offered [i've managed to get an older version of skype this time round...] Also - I don't seem to be able to follow the link to the Paypal donation page... Thanks to Santi and Susan for this opportunity. Cheers Rob
  13. Inducing Labor

Our second son was delivered on Monday evening after a chemical (applied hormone gel) induction. The labour was pretty fast but the delivery was natural (rahter than C-section). We're both very happy about the way things turned out. It can go well. Cheers Rob
  14. K.A.P Full moon Shaktipat tonight on skype

OK - thanks - I'll see if I can find an older version. Cheers Rob
  15. K.A.P Full moon Shaktipat tonight on skype

Hi, I tried following this: http://www.skype.com/go/joinpublicchat?sky...rE_tl3PBSWs6LJT And got this: "Joining Skype public chat (IM) Note: this feature is not available in the latest version of Skype for Windows." Bugger. Any advice? Cheers Rob
  16. Detox teas

Dear Durkhrod, Many thanks for this - looks like a tasty brew if you manage to incorporate all of those ingredients. Can you offer any guidance about quantities of the different herbs to incorporate in the 1-2L of water you mentioned? sarsaparilla root red clover yellow dock Milk thistle dandelion roots ginger turmeric Burdock root Hibiscus flower Fenugreek seed Echinacea Angustifolia Ginger root Liquorice Cheers Rob
  17. Alcohol since we can remember

Hi, Can you elaborate on this? How would you diferentiate further between the gateway and the key? Cheers Rob
  18. The Barefoot Doctor

Indeed. The thing is - it wasn't teacher/student. It was healer/patient. Teacher/student entanglement is part of the nature of things - as Chas Clements once said on rec.martial-arts - where else is a full-time martial artist expected to find a mate if not amongst their students? (or something like that) Healer/patient, therapist/client - is, to my mind, an entirely different dynamic - a different type of expectation of trust. Stephen Russell (aka The Barefoot Doctor) acted poorly and let himself and some others down badly - as well as triggering a minor UK press flurry about inappropriate behaviour by alternative therapists. IMO, no amount of funky 'rascally' 'wayward' disclaimers makes it OK to try and get sexual favours from women who come to you looking for help to get themselves sorted out. Cheers Rob
  19. The Barefoot Doctor

Hi Mal, HfH was the bought for me for my 30th birthday - the 1st time I came across his stuff. I loved it. Cheers Rob
  20. The Barefoot Doctor

Hi All, I've got a few of his books - his first, Handbook for the Urban Warrior - is a classic - maybe a bit 90's flavoured now but it had a big influence on me at the time. I was a member of his online forum and swapped a few e-mails with him over a period of a couple of years. The controversy concerned issues about his behaviour in practitioner/patient relationships. Some people involved in the situation were also long term members of the forum. It wasn't good and his subsequent handling of the situation didn't reflect well on him. It's possible that he has learned form the experience but I wouldn't send anyone to receive treatment from him. Cheers Rob
  21. Evening

Hi All, How's it going? Long time lurker here and there. Practice some of BKF's material. Also spent a few years in the Bujinkan. Looking forward to finding out more about KAP (liked Glenn's books). Cheers Rob
