My first Out of Body Experience was to find a path to a friends home that I had never been to -I was to go there one evening to meet my first date his sister - I was 13 and walked straight there. Before I went inside, I told my friend what the house looked like inside. My second one was the evening that I had finally mastered the Savasana (Savasana web page in above quote) where I found myself hovering above a street full of shops. I decided to go inside a shop and did so - it wasn't like moving my body - it was more like just moving my awareness. I saw a girl inside sitting and writing something. Later I went back ( with my body) to see if what I saw was real. The same girl was there - she was a waitress. A few years later I physicaly went back to the town I was born in - it is a very small town of about 300 people. My friends kept coming up to me and asking why I did not stop. I asked one what he meant - I was 500 miles away. He told me that many had seen me walking the streets at night and had called out to me but I never even turned around. I asked him what time it was when they saw me - he said it was after 10PM. I told him that I was sleeping by then. These are just a few. I constantly meet people that I've never met before but we both know each other. A disproportionate amount of them are yoga teachers that teach the Savasana. Through the Savasana awareness, I have met some people in daytime, that I knew could not be there as I had recently left them 3,000 miles away. All have had very intimate knowledge of the Tao. One I had asked to be my teacher. In 1985, My grandfather died and the rest of my family wanted to hire a nurse to take care of my grandmother. I went back home and spent the happiest year of my life listening to her stories of family. When she went to the hospital and was pronounced dead - I returned to school and my business which was some distant to go to work. One night about 3AM, I woke to a strange feeling - I looked around and saw my grandmother standing a few feet away. Without speaking, she told me she was ok and for me not to worry. The Savasana also makes us sensitive to those not living - but it is only family members and teachers that I have been with so far. There is a lot more to it but one of the prime rules of teaching yoga practice is to not program students of what to expect- in this way, they know more of what is real. What I can say is that the Savasana, once mastered, is an experience of no body. As such, the Savasana holds the key to the mind. To me, death is an essential part of new birth. Savasana gives conscious controll of death. Savasana lets us pick our next birthmother. A portion of learning the Savasana is to come to terms with our dreams - which - in my opinion is a way of erasing our karma which comes from: Guilt, Fears, Uncertainties and Desires. And is the experience from which, I wrote this poem: Mirror of Yin ------------------------------------ Close your eyes and what do you have? No tv, no outside, & no emotional mountains. Only what you know, reason, imagine & your true self. . Guilt, fears, & uncertainties become Ghosts waiting defeat. Actions, past & future, self & others, fall into nature's microscope. The world becomes a large vacant room, wanting to be filled. . Breath becomes a furnace for life-giving energy. Time becomes a crucible for finding purity. Awareness becomes a peak for a seat. . Sight returns new and clear. Eyes looking inward, Seeing outward. . Find Time's Eternal Self *

Gold fillings, effects in regards to energetic practice
~jK~ replied to Owledge's topic in The Rabbit Hole
I saw 5ml of 0.01 mole of cyanide, being used as an FeO indicator, clear out the building where a chem lab was located - there were no deaths only because the lab had 100% pure O2 - ambulances carry only 20% O2. I am sure they will declare the purity to you... NOT in this life though -

Gold plating is done with a gold solution that polarizes with the magnetic fields of the earth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_plating If it polarizes, it would also have a Diode effect of allowing electricity to flow one direction better than another... Be carefull though when messing with gold as it often has cyanide still with it from the mining process... -
Once I read in a very old dictionary: "Religion: A 'beleif' in a supernatural, mythical existance " Once I got out of the Appalachian culture, I escaped the Belief systems of Christianity. Once I began meditating, I began to understand where my mind had been. Belief systems are based on a child searching for father principle. Buddhism, based on philosophy, & meditation works for me. Take a look to see the difference between them: http://www.amtbweb.org/tchquote.php Christianity is a 'WAR' religion. WAR: Rich man's Gain, Poor man's Pain. Pray to that Cross- I'll show you who's got da Boss .l. ~~~~~~~~~~ From a different angle - here is the break between religions that allowed science to begin developing in the west. From the History of the Royal Society. http://royalsociety.org/page.asp?id=2176 An excerpt from the above webpage: "Bacon's works include his Essays, as well as the Colours of Good and Evil and the Meditationes Sacrae, all published in 1597. His famous aphorism, "knowledge is power", is found in the Meditations. He published The Proficience and Advancement of Learning in 1605. Bacon also wrote In felicem memoriam Elizabethae, a eulogy for the queen written in 1609; and various philosophical works which constitute the fragmentary and incomplete Instauratio magna (Great Renewal), the most important part of which is the Novum Organum (New Instrument, published 1620); in this work he cites three world-changing inventions: "Printing, gunpowder and the compass: These three have changed the whole face and state of things throughout the world; the first in literature, the second in warfare, the third in navigation; whence have followed innumerable changes, in so much that no empire, no sect, no star seems to have exerted greater power and influence in human affairs than these mechanical discoveries."[21]" The development of Science -free from religion- in the west began here. "The origins of the Royal Society lie in an "invisible college" of natural philosophers who began meeting in the mid-1640s to discuss the ideas of Francis Bacon. Its official foundation date is 28 November 1660, when 12 of them met at Gresham College after a lecture by Christopher Wren, the Gresham Professor of Astronomy, and decided to found 'a Colledge for the Promoting of Physico-Mathematicall Experimentall Learning'. This group included Wren himself, Robert Boyle, John Wilkins, Sir Robert Moray, and William, Viscount Brouncker." Current Fellows include Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Richard Dawkins, Stephen Hawking, Harry Kroto, Tim Berners Lee, Paul Nurse and John Sulston. There are currently 22 Nobel prize winners among the Fellows and many other holders of other equally prestigious awards. Previous Fellows include Isaac Newton, Christopher Wren, Charles Darwin, Ernest Rutherford and Dorothy Hodgkin.

When I travel, I don't feel as I have been anywhere, untill I see the forrests. Traveling in night dreams, I return home - to the Appalachians. Good analogy "catalyst" but a catalyst is any other than 'mere'. A catalyst may be small but it is what 'precipitates the process. Sitting in the forest, I have never felt nor been alone. I describe the experience more of 'being' as one with. Nature is the one companion I have always kept near

Yes - Absolutely yes. I had not thought about it but 'solitude' is one of the elements necessary for growth. It should seem obvious that seeing what is Not there is as important as seeing what Is there There are too many experiments that cannot be done with the noise of others in your head. I come from a very large family of 81 cousins, aunts, uncles etc living on one mountain. I have lived alone - except for the ocasional girlfriend - since I was 17. Totaly Alone I have experienced the phases of Enlightenment. Alone is alone but not alone - you are one with yourself. Sometimes I do not speak to anyone for months. Vocal chords sometimes forget how to work. When I go out, I explode with energy. Meditation is my true friend. Very few could do it. 'must be nature' Can't U See The Me?

Interesting! I also have had a teacher / teachers from the astral for about 20 years. I just go with the flow and so far it has been ok. These teachers from the astral are documented all through Taoist literature - Thomas Cleary brings the subject up a bit. He calls the teacher Lu or Liu or something like that. In The Secret of the Golden Flower, Page 53, it gives him as Master LU. I also read a lot. And I've been into Kundalini for about the last 10 years.- There is a set of yogic exercises that are necessary to open the channels for energy flow. If you don't do these exercises - you will have an experience like a dam bursting open and all the energy flooding your system. Using Kundalini meditation, you can't just meditate. The exercises are in The Five Tibetans by Christopher S. Kilham Even with the exercises you will have what I call "risings" where when a chakra opens, the energy flows up to the next chakra - the risings continued with me for about 2 or 3 months and stopped when I passed the Throat Chakra. I have a portion of the exercises here: http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showto...11802&st=80 I would wait to do the Savasana untill you have at least gone through the first 5 chakras. Kundalini Yoga is ,in my opinion, the highest level of the yogic exercises of Hatha Yoga whereas the Savasana is known as the most important exercise in Yoga as it is the entrance to Raja Yoga - the awakening point. Both of the exercises have their own special functions that will open to you as they evolve. Keep in touch - I'll work with you.

What Buddhism and Taoism have in Common?
~jK~ replied to TheSongsofDistantEarth's topic in General Discussion
From my understanding, the reason for not eating meat is that it contains adrenalin -left over from the flight or fight syndrome of being killed... makes it a bit difficult to meditate with a shot of adrenalin running around inside. Another is from a friend that I asked why she did not like red meat - she said it looked human... Amazing how much emoting is done over traditions that have very practical aplications. -

Good Video - I was born about 5 miles from where the movie was made... 'Average' education is 6th grade. In China both Taoism and Buddhism teach meditation as a practice. Buddhism is more concerned with a philosophy of life Taoism is concerned with defining life. They share the same sites. Only the highest educated see the books we think of as common. They know the books very well - particularly the history of the knowledge. To date, I have not known anyone that could define what I see as the higher aspects. Most meditate but it is only a beginners form that is designed to co create a harmonous society. Here's another song, with video, from a movie that was made back home: http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=LRH7FtAAbJE -

The concept you speak of, in practice, is that they both see a woman's first 1/2 of her life as belonging to her family -not her. Buddhist and Taoist nuns learn a form of meditation & yoga that stops the monthly cycle. If you always listen - you will hear almost everything you can imagine. It helps tremendously to search out the practical applications. -

When the wind blows wrong way from the mainland into Hong Kong - it gets a bit dusty as well as tastes strange. I use an aquarium pump into an old 6L water bottle - it cleans the air & if you use weather strips to seal the doors & windows - it does a really good job of it. In Hong Kong the gov't did a study of bottled drinking waters & found that only the distilled water was not tap water. To purge your body of metals - pickeled beets work. If you've done it right - you will feel a bit depressed. Root vegies usually have good minerals if you don't like vitamins. Women loose minerals in their monthly but men retain them - I've read where Iron pipes is a leading cause of prostrate cancer... I did a small study on it to see when women got prostrate cancer - it was almost 100% after their monthly stopped.

From what I've read from -her books- her teacher lived(lives?) in Taiwan. Her Feng Shui book gives a really good description of the area around Sai Keung - where there are many Wongs from a few hundred years back. We are currently researching the Wong family to see what relation to Wong Shek Maitao (Wong Shek Pier). The Wong family is direct descendent from the Yellow Emperor, Huang Di (Also Wong Di). An interesting point is that Sai Keung, in chinese characters, translates to Western empire... Japanese origin? Here is a bit of a photo essay on the area as well as good descriptions. http://www.hongkongextras.com/explore_shat...ek_saikung.html

I use the open eye style only when doing walking or standing in line meditation -although- I still find that I can often pass my destination ... ... But then again - I live in China where many meditate riding the train, bus or just siting and waiting - almost all are closed eye. Some wear sunglasses. When doing inner cultivation styles such as Kundalini - I've never seen anyone, even in pictures, using closed eye style. Here is a style I prefer to use in the evening: http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showto...11802&st=80

matt007, The Taoist perspective can be seen from the Chinese Holidays - almost always on either the full moon or a solar cycle. If you can find a copy of the book: The Huangdi Neijing as also known as The Inner Canon of Huangdi or Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, is an ancient Chinese medical text that has been treated as the fundamental doctrinal source for Chinese medicine for more than two millennia. You will see how the planets and in particular the Sun and Moon are affecting not just humanity but all of nature. Here is the Calendar I use - it is a 160 year calendar in both Chinese and English. http://www.lunarcal.org/Screen.html The timing of the moon can be used for many things pertaining to the feminine. A woman's menustral cycle, in relation to the phases of the moon, can be used to tell her health as a healthy girl will begin her cycle on the dark of the moon - an old girl or sick girl will begin her cycle on the full moon. So - If you want to go out and meet girls - go out on the 7 days following the full moon. They will be much more receptive to you as this is ovulation time. As to if you and she will fit - this has to do with your needs as well as hers in a relationship. - But - now you are past the most difficult point - the beginning. Begining in Chinese characters is drawn by a bull mating with a cow
