Was it 12 or 16 years of the Bushites? Either - in my opinion- was too much for the world to be forced to tolerate. Correction: China was Communist under Mao, began to move toward Socialism under Deng and Nowadays China is moving more toward a Marx/Lennon philosophy. I doubt most in this discussion are able to get into Marxism though - it is quite algebraic. If a "Totalitarian political regime" is anywhere in China - I haven't seen it and i've covered the southern borders from Hong Kong to Burma and the East coast from Hong Kong to Beijing - in a 20 person mini-bus. We stopped in many, many towns to eat, sleep and pee. Although - I did see the Chinese military go into Macau to clean up the gangsters after the Portuguese left but they left once their work was done. I was just in Macau a few months ago and it is still ok. It amazes me how many can chirp up with so little experience. ~~~Communism did save the 400 Million people that Mao Tse Tung cared about from starving in China And allowed them to recreate the new China that now has enough USA $ to destroy the USA economy ($1.95 trillion at the end of March). Source: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-04/...nt_11167852.htm By the way - the Vietnam War was an effort to destroy the southern ricefields of China - and force starve the peoples of China - which is why USA poured Dioxon (code name Agent Orange) all over it before leaving. http://www.vn-agentorange.org/ Back to the Totalitarian nonsense - The reality is that the Chinese government takes very Harsh criticism from its people at lending so much to the USA after the history of Vietnam etc ... When Clinton bombed the Chinese embassy - people rioted in the streets accusing the Chinese government of being far too tolerant. I saw it in person in Hong Kong. You think the common people of China don't know who has been extending your credit cards ??? These same people do not accept the luxury of credit cards for themself.

Remember Bush? What did you do? IF you had read history and you would know what others have done. I suggest that you begin here: http://faculty.frostburg.edu/phil/forum/PlatoRep.htm As one too lazy to read history must ask others - Here is an operative point from the above URL: "The democratic election of a leader who plans to replace a capitalist democracy with a fascist warfare state, for example, is a case in point. Hitler, it is worth remembering, was elected by a democratic vote, and it is surely not irrelevant to ask whether those who voted for him did not suffer from an unacceptable degree of ignorance and lack of political education. " Study the Chinese electoral system and you may understand more. It is the same "grass roots system that Perot was trying to install."

Vajrahridaya, I don't play dragons & dungeons. I've preferred to live in reality for a loooong time. I am stating facts that are easily proven by simply clicking your mouse on the URL's. What is your point? From this end you come across as Joe McCarthy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_McCarthy

I don't know where your fantasies are coming from but from where I sit in China, Communism is alive and well in China as is Capitalism. I can't help but wonder if you even understand the terms Communism and Capitalism? I repeat: I can't help but wonder if you even understand the terms Communism and Capitalism? Some one has been slurping up sugared spoonfed news... Think this: The Government funded the Mass Transit Railway system through the Communist economic system and then made it public on the Stock Exchange through the Capitalist economic system. Now Hong Kong has a mass transportation railway system that runs every 3 to 5 minuites. Take a look: http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/train/intro_index.html By the way - it carries 2.3 million passengers daily in Hong Kong 18 Million daily in Beijing. Guess what - No Traffic Jams! I can ride in air conditioning from one side of Hong Kong through the New Territories to the mainland of China for about 5 US$ - It takes a total of about 45 minuites. Here is a map to help you understand the system: http://www.hong-kong-travel.org/MTRKCRMap.asp By the way - there is also a bus systen that was funded by the government and later listed on the stock exchange system - the busses run every 9 to 15 minuites - And a mini bus system that is privately owned and operated by the drivers And a taxi system privately owned and operated by the drivers.

Child labour exists in all countries. I, for one, have been working, in USA, since I was 6 years old and was proud to be working at that age and still am happy with it. Actually I created my own business at that age - shinning shoes. It cannot be denied that to judge one nation, to be in touch with reality, All nations must be judged in comparison. History of Child Labor http://www.historyplace.com/unitedstates/childlabor/ http://www.buzzle.com/articles/history-of-child-labor.html http://www.yale.edu/ynhti/curriculum/units...04.01.08.x.html Eventually the Dungeons & Dragons mindset that seems to prevail with many posters, claiming supernatural powers etc. etc, will need be eliminated in favor of reality.

Communism is an economic system - the other side of the coin is Capitalism. Comunism is used to help a nation create economic systems that can evolve. Capitalism is an evolved economic system. Nothing is pure - absolutely nothing. Come to China to see it working. Buddhist teachings are for the person to create a healthy mind. Take a look: http://www.amtbweb.org/tchquote.php

When you get past your Religious-belief-structured -dogmas. We will not need to talk. Even the English language, being based on sounds -that someone needs teach you - is belief structured. Compare this to the Chinese written language, which is based on objects found in reality and their association.

Vajrahridaya - you have no idea as to my own experiences or education. I'll give a hint: I gave up religion, as fairy tales for the weak minded, when I was 10 years old. My mind is clear enough to remember my mother hand feeding me as well as my silk blanket that I laid on before I could walk. To be honest- I do not find it necessary to put people in the same "frog in a well" bucket- as you can see in the mirror of your experiences, people do it to themself - you are not alone in there. Sadly- Until the little froggies develop some scientific standards of documentation 'this website' will not evolve out of a medieval, dark ages, mindset to its potential. The Scientific Standard I am writing about is simple: To be real, an event must be demonstrable and repeatable. Here is The Scientific Standard in long form. An excerpt from: http://74.125.153.132/search?q=cache:CyerE...=clnk&gl=au "Applied Scientific InferenceP. A. STURROCKCenter for Space Science and Astrophysics, ERL 306, Stanford University, Stanford, CA 94305-4055 Abstract-The purpose of this article is to use the principles of scientific infer-ence to provide guidance in evaluating complicated issues such as those raisedby the study of anomalous phenomena. Specifically, the article presents a for-malism (a "protocol") for organizing and combining the many judgments thatmust be made in the scientific evaluation of the relevant hypotheses. All judg-ments are to be expressed as probabilities, and the rules for combining proba-bilities are derived from Bayes' theorem. Setting up a problem in a mannerthat permits such an analysis can be helpful in imposing a structure and disci-pline upon the analysis, and also in exposing relevant questions that mightotherwise have remained hidden. Furthermore, the introduction of probabili-ties makes it possible to put on a sound numerical basis such assertions as "ex-traordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." One finds that extraordi-nary evidence can be built up from many (but not very many) items of unspectacular evidence, provided the items are truly independent." ~~~ The shame of it all is that this website is supposed to be a study of the Chinese Way. And This Chinese way is the actual source of the Scientific method - which the Chinese used to develop their many, many scientific advancements through the Way of the Tao -which- was what broke the west out of a curtain of ignorance called the dark ages into what we see today. As I have written before on this website: Even our computers could not work if not for the binary and hexadecimal math used to program the chips that are based on the Language of 8 AKA: (in Cantonese) the BaGua AKA: the math of the I Ching which, the essence, was written 4,000 years ago. - What our ancestors were doing 4,000 years ago is the same path you follow now... with the aid of Chinese knowledge AKA: the Tao -which you can wear as you spank your monkey on the keyboard but will never be able to understand untill you break out of this fairy tale world of beliefs based on egomanical selfserving desires.

Sadly - you got the worst case of desires that I've ever seen. The good news is that you got this entire thread now to play with. I'm outa here.

Wow - now you try to prove your unprovable with quotes from Nikola Tesla ? Show me the proof baby! You ain't no Nikola Tesla. But you should own up to your own statement of: I do consider it a story - which is just a polite way of saying that it is a ~

MeThinks you don't agree with me ! Actually - meditation can over ride the psycological effects of some drugs - but not the physiological. You can still die, have hallucionations, have heart attack, withdrawal symptoms etc...

MeThinks that only a smackahaha could meditate their way out of an acid attack, Two opposite ends of the spectrum canceling each other. Halucinations in sludgevision would be a river o-slime. No Kiss the Sky for this guy. MoLike a Wavy TarBaby.

Buddhism is known to be the mental health clinic of Asia because of the effect of meditation on clearing the mind as well as restoring balance. Carl G. Jung became famous for discovering the language & process of the subconcious that he found in the literature. "From this he developed his theories of: "Collective unconscious, sometimes known as collective subconscious, is a term of analytical psychology, coined by Carl Jung. It is a part of the unconscious mind, shared by a society, humanity and all life forms, that is the product of ancestral experience and contains such concepts as science, religion, and morality. While Freud did not distinguish between an "individual psychology" and a "collective psychology", Jung distinguished the collective unconscious from the personal subconscious particular to each human being. The collective unconscious is also known as "a reservoir of the experiences of our species." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collective_unconscious Carl G. Jung's favorite book was The Secret of The Golden Flower in which, he wrote an 80 page introduction.

During certain times of hormone secretion the vehicle is an oil from our body's massive stores, Bacteria like to feed on the oil & hormones but then they need to tke a dump -where they eat. Our body does not like this and sends white blood cells to defend against an -alien face dump. The blackhead is a dump. The white puss is the dead soldiers sent to defend against all aliens. Go buy a bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, wash the face w soap and then put a drop of H2O2 on the dump to help out the soldiers. As you sleep it will help but may take awhile to stop it. If the bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide has dilution directions to lower % to antiseptic grade - follow directions. Since the bacteria have found a home on your face - I found that it was good idea to use the antiseptic % once a month. You got to decide for yourself. This is not a medical advice forum. We can only give uneducated opinions that may or may not be based on experience.

I would really like to see 'realistic' documentation to these really strange claims. Bio-chemistry is Bio-chemistry is Bio-chemistry. B.S ain't it. If you are going to grow you got to know the Way. Confucious was the father of the scientific process of learning through objective experimentation

U got to remember - it is a Very different culture & enviornment in Asia. If all was that easy - why would I stay 12 years to study the culture? Why would it be interesting? Monks are not required to carry Id cards that state them as a monk. All experiences are seen as learning experiences for the monks. No one here gives them money. they give them food. There are many, many fake Buddhist monks in Asia. If someone needs to be on the run, they hit a real monk over the head, steel his robes and pouch & go find a tourist spot to beg.

Excellent post CarsonZi. I worked 4 years in a drug & alcohol hospital where people could come in only if they were seen to be either a danger to themself or others. All doors to the outside were locked. Alcohol is a poison to the body that must be detoxed by the liver before it can be used by the body. The form it comes out as - has the same effect as morphine. This is to say that people that are addicted to morphine are addicted to drinking alcohol. When the alcohol reaches a point that it spills out of the liver, it destroys the brain.
