Agreed. I'll definitely try that recipe. Sounds like exactly what I need, carb wise.

I feel bad to bump my own thread but... ~Bump!~

It is that simple. By saying it isn't, you are supporting the double standard that obviously annoys you. If you find a man who feels that you must be monogamous, but he does not, then kick him to the curb.

Well, of the three body types, I'd say I'm probably a mesomorph. That isn't to say that I'm too fit right now, because I grew up lazy, with little exercise, and overfed with junk food. That also isn't to say that I'm fat any longer, or to say that there isn't a layer of good muscle there. I'm just not toned at all. I've lost a lot of weight really fast, without working too hard, which is what makes me think I'm a mesomorph. I'm 6'2", 210 pounds or 95.5 Kg. My shoulders and chest are quite large, and I have a proportionally large torso compared to my legs (or at least that's what I've always thought). I also have large hands and feet. I carry fat in my stomach and sides more than anywhere else. Would a picture help? I'm not really against putting one on the internet. My diet isn't too great, tbh, but I'm willing to change it considerably. The problem has more to do with the fact that I don't live alone, and none of us are really big eaters any longer.

If you fell that the opposite sex (or same sex, if you're into that) must be monogamous, then you better feel like you must act the same way. On the opposing side, if you feel that you don't have to be monogamous, you better give the same freedom to your partner. It's that simple, people.

the difference between Japan reiki & Taoist Qi
Capital replied to LINGGUZI's topic in General Discussion
Find a teacher, my friend. The name really doesn't matter- it's there without us naming, and the only thing that we can shape is our perceptions. Also, people can obviously be hurt if someone pumps them full of energy that is not 'refined'. This happens with any system of energy. You can have the best of intentions, but it won't help someone if you are moving low energy through a gunked up system. -
The idea that women can feel how often you masturbate is silly. Unless the woman in question has the ability to SEE, she has no clue where your Jing/Chi/Shen is, and she most likely would slap you in the face if you told her she liked you because you have stored up enough 'Jing' that you're a sex machine... Non, sometimes you have to be real and accept that people like others for outward appearances and first impressions until they get to know them.

I'd say innocence is beginner's mind. It's like a baby or an animal. It's easy to get back to. It's just not easy to understand why you would want to get back to that state for many people. Have you heard the new idea that those people whom frown think the most clearly? That's the kind of idea that pervades our modern society. People want faster, better, stronger; rather than simple, content, balanced. Even on The Tao Bums, everyone wants energy and powers and inner peace. I've found some of my innocence again by letting go. Perhaps that's all there is to it?

Thank you for the kind words.

As someone who has smoked weed quite often for well over a year now, nearly every day and often many times a day, I'm going to go 'the distance'. I'm stopping for at least the six months that Fiveelementtao speaks of. When those six months are over, I may decide to start smoking again every once in a while, or I may not. I'll tell you all what happened, what I felt, and how it changed my meditation. Sound good? EDIT: Btw, I'm doing this because I'm planning to start doing Ya Mu's system daily, and I feel that doing so while often times intoxicated by a Psychoactive drug will be doing both him and I a disservice.

Is this meant to mean that the Super-person is able to continue meditating while he sleeps, rather than dream? Or does it mean that the Super-person has no desire, and therefore does not dream of those desires?

Thanks for the info. But I searched it on Mozilla, and it's Perapera-kun, not Parapera-kun.

Thankfully, I was with my girlfriend all most all day and night the last couple of days, so I was only on my computer for about thirty minutes while TTB was down. I come back this morning, and look what's up. EDIT: Thank you very much for all your hard work on the site. :] TOPIC RELEVANT: I found that when I made this reply the emoticons didn't pop up in the sidebar until after I both hit the button and then clicked show all.

What do the bums think about this guys Taoist "principles"?
Capital replied to SarahMoriko's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps true compassion rises above kindness or benevolence? On the topic question: I did not get good vibes, and the man who spoke didn't seem to know anything that I felt I could learn, which is disappointing; also, I wonder about his teacher, as he spoke of being the man's only student (at 8 [or something])- my intuition says that feels fabricated. -
Why do people expect monks to be buddhas? Also, having children is no 'more natural' than anything else- No one made us to have babies. No one made us for anything, besides to be ourselves; likewise homosexuality is no 'less natural' than anything else (and that's all I'll say about that). If one believes in Karma, then one believes in the importance of intent within action, yes? As it pertains to both personal and inter-personal consequences? Do you really think these monks and/or nuns all had ill intent? Does having sex truly count as a sin? It's not like someone (any someone) is being maligned by the action, in any way, as long as it is all fully mutual. EDIT: Am I in the realm of desire? I certainly feel desires, even if I try not to act on those that I feel are inter-personally negative. Are realms within the minds of the individual, so everyone in this world is on different realms all at once? Am I within a realm, but I realize not? Are you all in my 'realm', and we have some fatal flaw or hubris that we cannot see, for it so thoroughly defines us? To be frank, I don't understand the idea of 'realms' at all. EDIT2: Agreed with Drew: no matter what, the account sounded false.

I've done it for an hour, and it hurt like nobody's business; but I'm not a fourth of a master yet to be quite sure. Side Note: I do feel a lot more in my legs now than I did before. It's like by closing them up so tight for so long the blood (+Qi) had to find the natural routes to give my legs as much as possible.
-
Wonderfully said. I agree. EDIT: @ drewhempel: When you meditate, you learn to open up your back, pelvis, hips, and neck. That made me 'grow' quite a bit in the eyes of others, but I didn't in fact grow at all. I just stopped condensing my spine as much.
-
My simple advice is to forget your knees and ankles when trying for lotus. You are trying to learn to "open up" and freely turn the ball-and-socket joint that connects your pelvis to your thigh bone, nothing else; your knee and ankle should stay as relaxed and natural as possible, for the pull on them will come without any effort from you. Just turn the thigh round, rotate your legs into place- keeping them relaxed as if going into a simple cross-legged stance, and you'll get Full Lotus.

I guess... If I were immortal I would get the joke?

This whole thread is quite intriguing. I love this forum. So many weird ideas and interesting tidbits. Also, this forum always seems to trigger some of my wisest and deepest understandings, though I can never put them into words. Thank you all. @Ya Mu: Will Vibratory Acts of Power be helpful for one with no training to speak of?

Tell me what offends you, and I will tell you who you are
Capital replied to goldisheavy's topic in General Discussion
What a helpful post. You really added something to the conversation. Now, I think it's interesting how the idea of higher/lower keeps being addressed. It's interesting to me because a part of me says that it might be correct. This quote in particular introduces what I'm pondering. It seems to me that any time any of the above occurs, I feel offended not truly for the innocent man or the denigrated minority or the animal or plant massacred, but towards those higher than me whom let it happen. One doesn't become offended when something bad happens unless one feels like he or she knows the cause of that 'bad' event, and can therefore blame the circumstances on that cause. Steve's boat analogy was perfect. -
I'm a child again I have no mind to speak of I can only watch
-
Agreed. JK, I've been confused through this thread, wondering why you think the movie is war propoganda. The people who promoted war (the type of men who would think "They're just fucking trees!") are the bad guys in this movie. Hell, the planet Pandora itself attacked the human murderers!

Or maybe they think words can't ever be enough, because they can only convey a blurry copy of anything they attempt to describe- there's a reason why this is the first thing Lao Tzu wrote in Tao Te Ching (in essence). The deeper you go, the more mysterious it gets? I can't really say, as I've not gotten too deep in the literature and have no teacher. But perhaps you need a beginner's mind? Look for the simple, within the convoluted. Also, if you want to do bloody Alchemy or even just Nei Kung, find a teacher! I'm not searching too hard, as I feel I've yet to grow up enough to deserve one, being only 19. But that's the reason why I've only been doing spontaneity meditations, with little real directing, and that's why I haven't been focusing on my third eye at all for the last few months that I've been seriously meditating. On the original question: Meditate; you'll start to get it. Tao is just a name for it. 'Taoism' is a bunch of words and ideas trying to describe it. I won't try to describe it. Not even Taoisms own Lao Tzu could.

Use the hips more for the turning of the leg, and you can get the Lotus much better in a single night. Your knees and ankles should turn due to the hips turning, or you're doing it wrong.
