this are very good questions !! usually as in most of the cases, practitioners use their mind in a ATTEMPT to mentally force open their channels, then afterwards go around thinking that its opened up till so-and-so point, tomorrow or next week i will work at opening another point or so.... again, many times WE go around living in a MENTAL BUBBLE, we THINK that my body is this-and-that, my qi is this-and-that, i like this-and-that, i dont like this-and-that you can try shutting up the ALWAYS THINKING MIND, try to FORGET about what you THINK IS HAPPENING to your body and JUST LISTEN to the truth your body is telling you, of course next you are going to sit back in your chair for 1 - 5mins and wonder why you can't hear anything i try listening too, its hard to listen when the mind keeps thinking and thinking and thinking

well first of all, if your healthy with no prior health problems except this hot dantian, can consider a temporary TOTAL pause of your practise also WHO is teaching you ? or are you reading a book / from online websites if some of the replies here leave you slightly confused, might be safer not to try them :X

if you can feel a icky, sticky sensation that seems like its latching on to you and you cant shake it off, i think its probably some bad energy or something.....good luck protecting yourself !

i agree with several posts here, you need to know the limits of your conscious mind, what are its limits ?

if a practitioner starts ageing faster then something is very wrong -
yes sadly, GIANT western corporations have the money to keep flashing their advertisments and change the mindset of young consumers, who are still easily-influenced by MEDIA in general.

yeah interesting stuff...always good to know..

i think you need to know more about the history, where kunlun came from, how many years of practise did the old masters recommend, what type of foundation practise did they do and for how long......etc etc before choosing a 6month course and then thinking 'its time', so many 'modern style teaching' just like to take the shortcut to the top, exposing the student to real potential dangers !

Are there differences between the various qigong practices and how do I choose the right one for me?
SingaporeGuyHere replied to mindspring's topic in General Discussion
this is just my opinion.... since you are a beginner...unable to tell good from bad....probably choosing a safer 'type' of qigong practise will be good...what do you think ? Healing qigong is the safest out of the 3 categories. Martial art qigong Can have healing side-benefits but dont mistake its real purpose, to develop 'hard qi' for fighting. Spiritual qigong....do you really want to blunder about with this type ?? so healing qigong is definitely the safest for a beginner to start off with, and i personally find those that require NO THINKING to move the qi as SAFER then those that require you to think where the qi is going. this is the truth, there are really many practitioners out there who have Blocked energy points after using their mind to direct the qi, and they might not even notice it or they might be aware of 'something' but brush it off as harmless so what i am saying, is its safer for a beginner to Start with healing type qigong which requires zero imagination after some safe experience with qigong, you will be better prepared to venture forth -
can i ask a question here...how could the karma 'jump' to him *blur*

why not just practise spring forest and stay away from falun gong ? i have seen some ...extreme... falungong practitioners in singapore. i think there are available genuine qigong out there to learn, without exposing your mind to 'mental danger' like in the falungong system, even if you end up only 1% fanatic, thats still 1% too much.
