  1. LOVE that video in your signature! the baby is all "WOAH DUDE?!" :D

  2. is a tao wizard? KEWL!

  3. mama-ing and meditation

i think anyone with kids can agree that meditation is essential for being a sane parent but i'm wondering if anyone has info on energy work while you still have an infant. not just finding the time and space to do it, but how it will affect the little one (LO). i didn't do anything but some quiet sitting/contemplation while pregnant - anything else felt like it would have been too much for my LO growing inside me. and it turns out he's a fairly sensitive little guy so i guess i was right. we're still nursing at eight months old and i've been feeling the old surges to practice, but i'm wondering if he'll get affected through mama milk or because he is carried by me most of the day. there's not a lot of info in taoist texts about pregnancy and even less about breastfeeding. damn patriarchy
  4. Interesting "breakthroughs" in your path.

in no order of importance or relevance.... (1) when the background became the foreground and all became one...it could have been a second or a day or a year....who knows, who cares (2) every time this new little life moves inside me....the one has become the myriad again....and it will go back to the one again
  5. The Color Purple

and when talking about chakras, indigo (which is that bluey-purple) and purple are two different things.... INDIGO 6th Chakra: Third Eye Pineal Gland: Often connected to the forehead (between the eyebrows). Is a physical eye at the base of the brain with the capabilities of looking upward. Clairvoyance, psychic abilities, imagination, dreaming PURPLE 7th Chakra: Crown: Connects you with message from higher realms. Can be experienced as a pressure on the top of the head. spiritual connection, understanding, knowing, bliss, God so if you're definitely seeing that purple/violet color then.... Sahasrara is generally considered to be the chakra of pure consciousness. Its role may be envisioned somewhat similarly to that of the pituitary gland, which secretes hormones to communicate to the rest of the endocrine system and also connects to the central nervous system via the hypothalamus. The thalamus is thought to have a key role in the physical basis of consciousness. Symbolized by a lotus with one thousand petals, it is located at the crown of the head. Sahasrara is represented by the colour violet and it involves such issues as inner wisdom and the death of the body. Sahasrara's inner aspect deals with the release of karma, physical action with meditation, mental action with universal consciousness and unity, and emotional action with "beingness".
  6. Life Without a Story

damn, i had this whole riff/response in my head to your subject line, then when i clicked, it was a video....which i'll have to watch after i write this other stuff down..... "life without a story" which the writer in me says is not a life lived...a life of missed opportunities, a life lead in the shadows, in fear of anything new or strange or different... but the taoist in me says that's exactly what a life should be....stories are just fabrications to make sense of, make a linear "coherent" picture of what's happening, removing yourself from the present awareness to become a third party in your own life but it's all of that and nothing
  7. How edumacated are you?

I have a BA in Humanities concentration in writing (as well as a certificate in Interactive Multimedia) An MFA in Creative Writing fiction and was told I had an very high IQ on those stupid tests in high school So I don't know if IQ and education makes you more inclined to taoism But I know for me I've always been a naturally inquisitive person as well as someone always searching for the deeper meaning
  8. Wow. Just. Wow. What a Tao board we have Rookie I know both of them and cam is definitely not harassing mgd. It's some tough love from both sides and we're all just hashing some things out on a public forum. They have much love and respect for one another So please rookie just chill the F out (especially with the threats - so not Tao) and you might learn something from the conversation and metaconversation that's going on. Or try to do the Taoist thing and become The Observer and Cam who's been to six and myself who hesitantly went to a second and someone like scotty or mgd who's only been to one are all representatives of kunlun b/c we all come in with different energies, strengths and blockages so we may need one, we may need more to work it all out. So please stop all of this nonsense until you've tried it yourself or have been intimately involved with this convo started lifetimes ago
  9. How many Kunlun workshops?

and that's exactly the order it happens in
  10. the five excellencies

i've read about those same five excellences and i think i tried to start a topic here about it eons ago i've been trying to attain some level of proficiency in the five.... martial: this is the one i have the least amount of work in medical:my version of medical tends to be about listen to people and helping them with their problems magical or meditative: trying to spread the word about how wonderful meditation can be musical: i'm always trying to sing/dance/entertain the people around me mesmerizing: words are my gift, so that was an easy one you can also check out this british collective called the babylon project - they have a fun little article with a more socially conscious bent, which i'm always in favor of! --rebecca

  14. A Question For The Ladies

for a bunch of free-thinking open Tao Bums there's a hell of a lot of stereotypes about men and women being flung about and my dear boy you will find someone who is your peer and equal and into taoism like you when you need to... if we're in the right frame of mind we can meet the right people at the right time... seeing more than a few women on here should give you hope for a partner to come walking into your life
  15. buddhist forums

thanks everyone for the links. i sent a link to this forum to my friend and she's loving the carnivore/herbivore discussion - she's a vegan, so hopefully she'll sign up here and add her two cents. for me, i don't feel well physically or mentally if i don't get a little protein in every day - and not some crazy Super-size portion, but a little palmful. and that included nuts and seeds
