i think anyone with kids can agree that meditation is essential for being a sane parent but i'm wondering if anyone has info on energy work while you still have an infant. not just finding the time and space to do it, but how it will affect the little one (LO). i didn't do anything but some quiet sitting/contemplation while pregnant - anything else felt like it would have been too much for my LO growing inside me. and it turns out he's a fairly sensitive little guy so i guess i was right. we're still nursing at eight months old and i've been feeling the old surges to practice, but i'm wondering if he'll get affected through mama milk or because he is carried by me most of the day. there's not a lot of info in taoist texts about pregnancy and even less about breastfeeding. damn patriarchy

Interesting "breakthroughs" in your path.

in no order of importance or relevance.... (1) when the background became the foreground and all became one...it could have been a second or a day or a year....who knows, who cares (2) every time this new little life moves inside me....the one has become the myriad again....and it will go back to the one again -
and when talking about chakras, indigo (which is that bluey-purple) and purple are two different things.... INDIGO 6th Chakra: Third Eye Pineal Gland: Often connected to the forehead (between the eyebrows). Is a physical eye at the base of the brain with the capabilities of looking upward. Clairvoyance, psychic abilities, imagination, dreaming PURPLE 7th Chakra: Crown: Connects you with message from higher realms. Can be experienced as a pressure on the top of the head. spiritual connection, understanding, knowing, bliss, God so if you're definitely seeing that purple/violet color then.... Sahasrara is generally considered to be the chakra of pure consciousness. Its role may be envisioned somewhat similarly to that of the pituitary gland, which secretes hormones to communicate to the rest of the endocrine system and also connects to the central nervous system via the hypothalamus. The thalamus is thought to have a key role in the physical basis of consciousness. Symbolized by a lotus with one thousand petals, it is located at the crown of the head. Sahasrara is represented by the colour violet and it involves such issues as inner wisdom and the death of the body. Sahasrara's inner aspect deals with the release of karma, physical action with meditation, mental action with universal consciousness and unity, and emotional action with "beingness".

damn, i had this whole riff/response in my head to your subject line, then when i clicked, it was a video....which i'll have to watch after i write this other stuff down..... "life without a story" which the writer in me says is not a life lived...a life of missed opportunities, a life lead in the shadows, in fear of anything new or strange or different... but the taoist in me says that's exactly what a life should be....stories are just fabrications to make sense of, make a linear "coherent" picture of what's happening, removing yourself from the present awareness to become a third party in your own life but it's all of that and nothing

i have a friend who's really getting into buddhism now and would like to find some like-minded souls. i was telling her about this forum and how entertaining, fun and educational it is - she'd love something just like this place, but specifically for buddhists. anyone know a good forum for her to check out?

I have a BA in Humanities concentration in writing (as well as a certificate in Interactive Multimedia) An MFA in Creative Writing fiction and was told I had an very high IQ on those stupid tests in high school So I don't know if IQ and education makes you more inclined to taoism But I know for me I've always been a naturally inquisitive person as well as someone always searching for the deeper meaning

February Jenny Lamb Spontaneous Qigong seminar!

Wow. Just. Wow. What a Tao board we have Rookie I know both of them and cam is definitely not harassing mgd. It's some tough love from both sides and we're all just hashing some things out on a public forum. They have much love and respect for one another So please rookie just chill the F out (especially with the threats - so not Tao) and you might learn something from the conversation and metaconversation that's going on. Or try to do the Taoist thing and become The Observer and Cam who's been to six and myself who hesitantly went to a second and someone like scotty or mgd who's only been to one are all representatives of kunlun b/c we all come in with different energies, strengths and blockages so we may need one, we may need more to work it all out. So please stop all of this nonsense until you've tried it yourself or have been intimately involved with this convo started lifetimes ago -
and that's exactly the order it happens in

i've read about those same five excellences and i think i tried to start a topic here about it eons ago i've been trying to attain some level of proficiency in the five.... martial: this is the one i have the least amount of work in medical:my version of medical tends to be about listen to people and helping them with their problems magical or meditative: trying to spread the word about how wonderful meditation can be musical: i'm always trying to sing/dance/entertain the people around me mesmerizing: words are my gift, so that was an easy one you can also check out this british collective called the babylon project - they have a fun little article with a more socially conscious bent, which i'm always in favor of! --rebecca

for a bunch of free-thinking open Tao Bums there's a hell of a lot of stereotypes about men and women being flung about and my dear boy you will find someone who is your peer and equal and into taoism like you when you need to... if we're in the right frame of mind we can meet the right people at the right time... seeing more than a few women on here should give you hope for a partner to come walking into your life

thanks everyone for the links. i sent a link to this forum to my friend and she's loving the carnivore/herbivore discussion - she's a vegan, so hopefully she'll sign up here and add her two cents. for me, i don't feel well physically or mentally if i don't get a little protein in every day - and not some crazy Super-size portion, but a little palmful. and that included nuts and seeds

How come so many people in this forum are in to Kunlun?
mentalground0 replied to Teddy's topic in General Discussion
there's a lot of kunlun talk right now because max is "on tour", making stops in NJ and Europe (coming to a town near you this sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!), so people are personally engaging him right now and coming here to talk about it. welcome aboard Teddy! -
chris- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH haHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA brilliant well done and very funny sir --rebecca

interesting you say grass, b/c at the NJ seminar i wanted more than anything to get out of the hotel and onto the grass. being inside to practice kunlun seemed as silly to me as worshiping G*d in a church rather than giving thanks outside in the majesty he/she/it created i've done shrooms many times (as well as ganja and mdma). every time i've done shrooms (except for the first time, which gave me a lot of dark visions and i learned to respect and honor those lovely little earthcaps since) has been very relaxing, but it's def not the same as kunlun b/c while i always felt the influence of the psychedelics and part of my brain was sober, so i had this dual vision of what was going on. with kunlun, there is no dual brain for me - it's being totally immersed in the moment and from what i saw at the seminar, there is a huge "divine entering you/you entering the divine" aspect going on, with the shaking and speaking in tongues and visions - like that happens when someone received the Holy Spirit. so, from what i've experienced, shrooms isn't quite the same (and not nearly as good of an experience) but it's a good reference point to try to describe it to someone.

merry merry merry happy birthday guys!

that's an awesome pic!

i might be able to attend every three months, but i'd be down with taking a ride to new england for some kunlun goodness

hopefully that subject line made sense to the kunlun practitioners here ;-) as i was driving home from errands this afternoon, i got that rushing sound and sensation in my ears that i got at the seminar last weekend and it's been happening off and on for the past few hours (it's really happening strongly right now). since i'm silly and didn't take notes, i don't remember what practice that is and what i should do to encourage it and get more out of it. i know several of you here will be able to help. thanks! rebecca

i'm sure my alignment is off - i carry a messenger bag every day on my walks to and from work (and occasionally to other sites) with the weight of it resting on my left shoulder, so that does mess with the alignment of left and right sides of my back and neck. hopefully i can have a moment to myself tonight to get a good kunlun session in

it's like back in my headbanging days, but in s l o w m o t i o n thanks for that quote from that groovy man. and i'd love some blockages cleared out of my head and body right about now interesting that you've had the sounds since you were a kid as well. i never told anyone growing up b/c i figured everyone heard that stuff. interesting that you get a headache if you don't follow the kunlun inside. when i moved my head back those times max told me to, i got sick to my stomach afterwards. at least that's making sense now too. thanks for sharing!
