  1. what is Buddhist sickness?

You dont know many Chinese then, is my guess.
  2. Cultivating when in pain

Yes, its possible. The greater the pain, the more clarity there is. This is sometimes called the luminosity of what is. This luminosity is the essence of awakening to truth. It can be derived from either source -- pain or pleasure. The general tendency is to avoid pain, or do various things to alleviate the pain, to make it go away. Conversely, people tend to crave and gravitate towards pleasure and painfreeness, usually doing their utmost to make these two states last as long as possible. Eventually things change, nothing lasts without taking off in a different direction after a while. When it does, people will think they are in pain again. The cycle repeats and repeats endlessly. This is what leads to unsatisfactoriness, giving people a sense of being displaced without actually knowing why they feel that way most of the time. Pain can be used as a practice to stay present. It can also be used as a practice to transform one's ego clinging. The best help for oneself is to practice seeing thru both pleasure and pain as nothing more than fleeting sensations. Only when the actual source of non-differentiation is seen in & integrated in its proper light can transcendence of both take place. me2shillings.
  3. Don't you think the issue is not so much with New Age antics, but that mainstream people would actually fall for them? And the numbers are on the rise, as faith in mainstream religions begin to diminish. Perhaps the focus ought to be on the underlying causes why people get stuck on the level of incompetence, disillusionment and susceptibility in the first place. Then one might arrive at insight, and hopefully from that generate some wisdom and compassionate understanding. Wouldn't this be more helpful instead of directing what seems to be cynicism towards those whose practice does not align with yours?
  4. what is Buddhist sickness?

Yes, heard the same, on both counts. Sorry for your loss. Do you have another cat now? We have a black and white one back home named Mickey. After the Mouse. Haven't yet heard of a mouse named Felix though. Im sure there's one out there somewhere.

Buddhist sickness? Sure. Why else would there be a need for Medicine Buddha?
  12. I got a birthday card from my son last year -- very consoling, indeed. It said, "That's not a bald patch, Dad, its a solar panel for a sex machine". You can lock a man up, but you can't stop him from dreamin'.

  16. Is this practice dangerous ?

That list is nothing but spin. You can read a couple of books and come up with a more impressive one if you so wish. DIY from reading materials is spiritual suicide. Its critical that you take on board the kind words of concern that others have offered, and do the right thing. Damages could be irreversible. Some gates, if you open them without the correct prep, are like opening a pressured furnace. The roaring flames and the heat, once let out, will burn down the doors first , and then burn the furnace itself in due course. And in esoteric practices, its not just one door we are talking about. Its a series of doors, all connected. The Chinese have a saying about not guarding the doors allowing the demons to sneak in. Think of the consequences. Wisen up.
  17. Thats one of the main reasons why kids are closer to the Tao. Are you sure nothing happened? Look, you landed a lucrative job, didn't you?

  20. Have you tried prayer? Maybe pray and give thanks you don't have a major toothache in addition to this temporary condition. It sounds like im being funny, but trust me, prayer works, especially prayers based on gratefulness. Some people also do confessional prayers after(not the superficial, sloppy kind... here, confession means admitting to your limitations, thereupon submitting to your inner potential for betterment). Helps to realign your subtle body, which then sends reverberations outwards towards the coarse body. So, try this out. Each time you prematurely awake, start praying. Send good wishes to yourself, to your family, your relations, your friends, your enemies, animals, war zones, anything that matters to you at all -- even problematic life situations, etc. Do it every time, and before long, the intermittent sleep issue will be over. If it resurfaces, start praying again. If after 5 years the problem is still unresolved, just think all the good that came out of it... you would have sent out millions and millions of good thoughts, purifying your mindstream to such an extent that your problem could be the exact cause of your spiritual awakening. Think about it.

  23. Is this practice dangerous ?

Yes, but 'not real' does not mean 'without consequence'.
