  1. Prajna is 3-fold

Not accusing him of breaking samaya. They dont have to be broken to be repaired you know? We periodically take stock of past actions and strengthen vows where and when needed. That is a form of mending of samayas. Thats what Malcolm had done based on what he recently wrote on DW. Its a good practice, and one which serious tantric students do all the time. But if its still being observed as part of one's practice, one has not progressed on to the third-fold. Thats what i was asking. Me, im still at below one. Chill out guys.
  2. Prajna is 3-fold

Malcolm Namdrol is fervently repairing samaya now. He has not gone beyond the second-fold, has he? Perhaps after his second 3 yr retreat he might.
  3. adding all the digits = 12 = December. So you were spot on. add 1 + 2 = 3, so you were close on the date, but no cigar. its actually 3rd December of that fantastic year. Better get it right next time.
  4. Haiku Chain

i've hit upon that art thou, thou art that, art thou now i am confused.
  5. Prajna is 3-fold

"they are not two separate things". Ringu Tulku i still dont get how prajna can be contaminated.
  6. Cool places members live

I moved to Ireland 21 years ago. Ireland has this -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newgrange this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinness and this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheep oh, and not forgetting this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliffs_of_Moher its a lovely country, very green, and if you like plenty of rain all year, its a perfect retirement destination. and... Obama has ancestry here, if that means anything. Who doesn't, come to think of it.
  7. Prajna is 3-fold

Contaminated prajna? Never heard that before. Wisdom is wisdom. If there is contamination, its not wisdom. I have heard of relative and absolute prajna, but relative in this instance does not imply that the process of moving from ordinary to supreme is somehow suffused with taints and therefore inferior. It makes no sense to see it this way.
  8. What has been your most humbling experience?

Yup, that came to mind yesterday. Standing there and seeing my boy coming into this world would count as one of the most humbling experience ever. Awesome to be frozen for a while in wonderment. Really awesome.
  9. A dog tried to kill me today, why?

Let it go. Go even further... send the best wishes to that dog that it will obtain a more favourable rebirth in its next life. This is to increase your own merit as well as the dog's. You may, however, not believe in rebirth. In this case, just take what i said as an attempt to humour you, and nothing more. And please dont assume that its an asshole dog just because Rongzom Fan said there are many of them around. Only irresponsible people who don't have the slightest clue about what it means to raise a dog properly.
  10. A bubbling sea below my navel

I have often experienced, and still do, a bubbling sensation around the heart area whenever i do certain tantric practices (sorry no details). Some say its the result of the welling up of bliss. Maybe it is, but i don't analyse it anymore. When its there, i tend to just go with it, and watch it with mild interest, until i get distracted by some other sensation. The duration of it varies, sometimes it lasts for a few seconds, at other times it could last for a lot longer. It does not mean anything special. I think infants get a similar sensation, which is why they smile and chuckle quite a bit, even without being cajoled.
  11. A dog tried to kill me today, why?

Look at it from a more positive perspective -- it was a karmic event that had to happen, and now that it has, its over. Please try not to fret over it too much by reading into it more than what the event actually was.
  12. Its not really that absurd. In some Asian countries one gets to read or hear of women who engage the services of bomohs to hook guys they fancy, without the guys having the slightest clue they have been targeted. Its the same thing. Such services could vary in severity, from concocting mild love potions, to drawing up talismans or 'fu', to hard-core black magic done with the guy's personal things, like hair, nails, photo etc. Maybe such things are practiced in the West too, but not as spooky i think. Bomoh = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bomoh
  13. What has been your most humbling experience?

thank you for the lesson. deeply appreciated. _/\_
  14. If there is nothing to resonate with, that particular energy typically don't even arise, let alone go into attack mode. If you perceive an energy arising, and starts pondering whether its malevolent or benevolent, its already too late to then form the mental idea that there is actually nothing there for the energy to hit against. You know, as they say in the highest yogas, whatever thought arises, know that its already liberated. One does not have to do anything in particular to liberate thoughts. They already are primordially liberated. Now, sustaining this realization is the practice, and one which would take years to meticulously prepare. Same here with respect to the arising thought of being attacked by negative energy. Since all is mind, the doubtless confidence that mind is empty is good enough as a protective shield against any perceived attack. In fact, one will not even form the perception of an attack in the first place, post-realization. So one does not even need a shield, or protection from any harm. Why? Because in Dzogchen, for example, everything is a display of empty cognizance, thats why. haha. The problem could arise if someone fails to see the work involved in getting to that level of spontaneous wisdom-knowing emptiness. Its easy to point it out, a bit harder to lay a strong groundwork for the initial glimpse (into rigpa) to take root. And some people actually cling to the belief that since all is already pure (pure as in primordially unstainable - which is like saying, buddha nature) there is nothing to do, except chop wood and carry water, or eat when hungry, sleep when tired. But they dont deeply understand the subtle distinction between one who performs these actions while identifying with a self compared to another who performs similar actions without self-identification. In both instances, action takes place, but one accrues karma, while the other does not, and the reason the latter does not is because the idea of self has been deconstructed, without the slightest trace, and firmly established thru right effort.
  15. Easiest way to end friendships too, in some cases.
  16. Hm, Brian was being unfair/unkind with that statement he made, because what he said was 'slipping roofies', which is 'premeditation', entirely different from actual rape.
  17. In soap operas... haha... that, Creation, is not cultural, its fantasy. In real Asian culture, the everyday girl never gets a second glance. Thats why glamor sells, BIG time!! Cosmetics, fragrances, clothes, shoes, lingerie, surgical procedures, multi-million dollar ad campaigns with the most 'adorably gorgeous' models... you get the picture, right? I think this applies across all cultures... i could be wrong, mate, but i have travelled a bit in my life (except i am half ignorant when it comes to the US, never been, but have met a few in my time) to notice the glaringly wide commonality. Generally speaking, every sane woman, at some point in their life, wants more than anything to believe that others find them attractive (not just physically at that), nothing wrong with it, but really, those who do not know how to think right opens themselves to exploitation, and this is like a field day for the industries mentioned. (There is the porn market as well, but lets not go there cos 'there' is not your everyday kind of behaviour). I like what was mentioned in your post, except i am not sure if adoration could be used as tool to get a woman into bed straight from the off. Funny thing is women loves attention, but when they get it, hey, they switch off, unless of course there is a kind of mutual feeling happening at the time. What i said above was more like thinking out loud in response to Yabyum's post about the ginger fellow, how he is able to get a string of girls on a regular basis. In my mind, he must have made the first girl very, very satisfied, and word got around that he knew something the other so-called 'top dogs' at campus were cluelessly fumbling around with at the time. Maybe he had a brilliant uncle who passed on a few secrets for him to test out. Who knows. I can see that he made it happen rather than being held back by certain perceived disadvantages, which obviously proves a point about certain learned behavioral criteria having to be met before one can score with women. Personally, i have experienced many times that the way to woman's heart (not for longterm, since the OP deals with the onset of a fling, where 2 people potentially exchange chemical reactions to see if they can get together for a bit of nookie) is not really difficult at all. One has to learn quickly how discreetness can be a good thing, with a good dose of respectfulness thrown in, but maybe such requirements are less emphasised nowadays. Haven't been doing the rounds for a good number of years now, so i can not really dig this whole game the way Sloppy Zhang and some of the other younger bums can, so i do enjoy reading some of the stuff here. Thanks to everyone who has made contributions!
  18. 'Ginger'... brings to mind Micky Hucknall of Simply Red. Not especially alpha, but he was fancied by many women, i think. Perhaps this cute guy was the creme de la creme when it comes to knowing how to please a girl where and when it matters, to make her feel totally adored. Most normal women love that very much, being desired.
  19. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

A new monk arrives at the monastery. He immediately gets assigned to help the group of monks responsible for copying old texts by hand. He quickly notices they are copying copies, not the original books. Puzzled, he made his way to have a word with the abbot. He points out that if there was an error in the first copy, the same error will simply be continued in all the other copies. "Its a tradition here, and we have been doing it this way for hundreds of years, but you do make a good point, my son". After a while, the abbot took one of the copies and went down to the archive room to check it against the original. Hours later, he had yet to emerge from the basement where the archive room is located. So one of the monks quickly went downstairs to see if the abbot was ok. He hears sobbing coming from the back of the basement. Walking mindfully towards the muffled sound of someone who seems to be quite distressed, he found the abbot leaning over one of the original books and crying, full of grief apparently. He puts one hand reassuringly on the abbot's shoulder and asked what the matter was. With tears in his eyes, the abbot looked up to the monk and said in an almost sorry tone, "The word, son, is 'celebrate'...."
  20. So says author Toni Bentley, "There is virtually no female sexual problem -- hormonal, menopausal, orgasmic, or just plain ol' lack of interest -- that will not be solved by **ta da** a new lover." Agree or disagree? According to Dr Marta Meana http://www.unlv.edu/people/marta-meana , being desired is the real female orgasm. As per the research findings of this Dean, men often fantasizes about giving satisfaction, not on receiving it, that men somehow feel more complete if they have the 'magic touch' where they have this super ability to bring a woman to orgasm. Should this theory be close to the truth, then men are really not that selfish after all, something which has been overly and overtly suggested across the great divide. Men want to excite women, period. Women? They want to be excited by men. Problem solved. Women get what they want, while the men pines for the next lover to bring them ultimate erotic pleasure. Silly men. (the above are not my views, btw. I just found it interesting, coming from a learned female professor of psychology)
  21. Haiku Chain

you would never be said teacher of a kid's wish to emulate Thor...
  22. With the thread titled the way it is, one would expect some very direct, in-face-like opinions. Being opinions, we can hopefully remain open enough not to take it personally to the point of being offended.
  23. Instant effect on non-conforming, unaware subjects are unlikely. In fact, i doubt its even possible. Harnessing and utilising for inner transformation is a possibility. The common outcome of having transformed oneself is the feeling of being somehow grander or more advanced than others, thus the karmic need arises to seek, announce and display one's ability, which presents its own challenges, as evidenced in many places, and people that are involved in such endeavours. There would be less of these challenges if people were to cultivate quietly, building their field like a stalking leopard honing in on its prey. Human nature demands excitement and stimulation due to a need for sense gratification. Such afflictive habits can be addressed/transformed thru directing attention inwards, beyond the sense doors. imo.
