Hempel and "perverts" and apparently being one
C T replied to elliotmtl's topic in General Discussion
Elliot is trying to resolve a split in his well-being, which he has been carrying for years. He has identified what he deems to be one of the chief causes, and is trying to ascertain if there are others here who have had a similar experiential result from their interactions with Drew. He has taken care to explain himself clearly, articulating his words with due consideration, and more importantly, accepts that he shares responsibility in this matter. I dont see anything negative about this. -
Guess not.

Simple answer to your question, HE. No John Chang in Buddhism. Jokes aside, MPG's idea of ending rebirth is quite different from the Buddhist one. At least, that is what i have picked up from reading some of his assertions together with the logic he has placed behind them. Moreover, he places heavy emphasis on siddhi cultivation, places great expectations and demands on himself, measures others by way of those expectations and demands, and finally thinks that those who try to hush hush this aspect of spiritual accomplishment simply haven't the faintest clue about what it means and what it takes to end the cycle of karmic returns. C'est la vie.. What he does not realise is that there are a handful of Buddhist tantric practitioners here who have actualised certain siddhis, but like their masters, bound by samaya, do not speak about them openly. Its an oath which authentic teachers expect students to keep. Maybe the mindset in the West are by nature more suspicious of those who tend to keep quiet and are not prone to dramatising the effects of siddhic accomplishments. In the East, this is the norm -- there, the creed is: Cultivate quietly, conserve precious energy, be prudent, and exercise maximum restraint when temptations arise to show off, both in deeds and words. The funny thing with Buddhist tantra is how each individual student approach the practices involved. Teachers often mention affinity and karma when asked why two students who are given the same set of instructions do not reach the same result. What i have learnt is that fundamentally, Right View and motivation are the key determining factors in this process. Those considered to have the correct motivation are usually found to have little to no desire to gain power for its own sake, and would have no hesitation to have such powers neutralised at the slightest hint of attachment to said powers (some masters can do this, its like debriefing, only a little more mystical ).

Welcome to the forums, Elliotmtl. Your post was appropriate, imo. Its a serious matter to you, and only right that you are trying to seek redress. -
Good explanations take time. Time can, in one way, be measured by number of breath cycles. Better to conserve energy than to indulge analytical curiosities. Benefits are derived from conservation, not so much from taking positions regarding good and ordinary. What is good will become ordinary; what is ordinary will become good. Be natural, like the clouds and the blue mountain. Just do it.

Thats really wonderful, Adept. The Mani is truly all-encompassing. It contains the essence of the entire Buddhist path, according to Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. In his book 'The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones', which was recommended by one of the posters in the above DW link, Rinpoche goes to great lengths to delve into the intricacies of this particular mantra with very practical application guidelines. Its a classic commentary, and i would recommend it highly.

Its cold out there, what are your thoughts on Tummo?
C T replied to thelerner's topic in Daoist Discussion
Im not negating/denying the power of tummo. Its part of my tradition too. Instead, im highlighting to the general readership the potential dangers of trying practices simply by watching some video, or reading from some on-line material, or what they read in forums such as these without having a reliable source to verify and clarify if what they have read/heard can be helpful or not. For someone who have been practicing tummo for years, naturally they (as per the clip you posted) would develop a certain level of resistance to elemental exposure -- however, individuals of that level of resistance are few and far between, so as a general guide rule, i have pointed out the caution to be taken when attempting to expose oneself to unknown elemental intrusions (in this particular instance, wind element) in the pursuit of esoteric forms and energetic manipulations, especially without a reliable guide or teacher to assist. I think the rationale behind this caution is concurrent with the practices of TCM, Tibetan as well as Ayurvedic medicine. As long as one has the foreknowledge of the potential dangers involved, by all means devise a meaningful cultivation plan and follow that until the desired results are in the pocket. Hence, all im saying in the last few posts is.... take caution. I hope that is reasonably clear for you. -

A bad TB tendency: We Chase away teachers
C T replied to thelerner's topic in Forum and Tech Support
Lin Ai Wei is still around. I know why he is very much respected and welcomed here. He is full of virtue, and more importantly, very humble and helpful in that fullness, in the sense that he is able to practice what he preaches. That could be the main reason why he is able to remain here and contribute positively to the growth of the community. Those that had left... well, they have work to do still. Usually, some 'teachers' come and see if they can find a vibrant 'feeding ground'. People can sense this, its like a lion suddenly appearing at a zebra watering hole. Thats how i see it. -

Are you speaking from experience here? Have you even practiced any of what you have written above? Have you spoken to any Chinese energetic cultivators, teachers, doctors, and asked about what 'wind invasion' is? If not, its just speculative talk. -
if i was thus gifted, i would use it on myself to reach buddhahood in the fastest way.

magic and possession. not always connected. an exorcist is not necessarily a skilled magician. a skilled magician is not necessarily an exorcist. so, do you suspect that you are possessed by magical beings? if that's your feeling, then you would need someone who is skilled in both fields. perhaps you might now want to consider re-phrasing your request towards the end of your post. this is to help you derive beneficial solutions from the right source(s). its crucial that you get that. Why? Because there is a likelihood that you will encounter here, to your dismay, contributions from all different types of opinioners. Are they all legit? Who knows, maybe they are all legit in a limited way, but then, maybe their legitimacy does not mean what they opine here will bring ease to your specific dilemma. By that, i meant Solutions from the right source(s). Its crucial for you to discriminate wisely whose advice to give due consideration, and whose to discard. Unfortunately, i have no practical advice to offer in relation to your problem, for i am neither a magician nor an exorcist. But if its merely moral support you require, hmm, this forum is a good place to get it.

Thats at least 30 'gate keepers' who were interviewed. Not one nipple could be seen anywhere. -

I already have, a few days ago. I anticipated this in advance. Just go to 'Book, Film and Media' section. You'll find one video where a handful of lineage masters were interviewed and demo'd. There are at least another 5 or 6 videos under the same name, each containing similar interviews with different lineage holders and propagators, showing the origins and history of energy and martial cultivation in China. -

the point of the discussion is whether or not excessive exposure to wind can have a detrimental effect, not how to qualify an authentic neigung master. What is your point anyway? That you can, and i cant, is that it? -

My grandfather is a TCM doctor (specialised in bone healing) from Guangdong. Where is your grandfather from? I am speaking from an authentic background, not something i learnt from a western disciple of a Chinese master. -

i can forward 8 clips of authentic neigung masters from China demonstrating their art, practicing or teaching, and all of them are fully clothed, from the neck down. can you show 4 clips of Chinese neigung masters doing the same, but bare-bodied? i dont think you understand what harm excessive wind exposure can lead to, even for those who have regulated inner fire. -
haha... you bet! i was only having a bit of a laugh with MH. Our notoriety are mutually known by now, so we get on ok. Happy Christmas night, Soaring Crane.

Has anyone ever tried to concentrate ones mind into ones Dantian?
C T replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
You can dive in, but you still have to come out. Then you want to dive in some more, just for the sensations available from that exercise. This is a common theme for most beginners, but this comment is not directed at you. Just that such experimentations come in all shapes and sizes, and their aim is nothing other than to cause distractive possibilities.
