Emptiness as potential. Its impossible to deny the existence of potential, yes? Without emptiness, we can never hope to stack spoons one atop the other. Or build anything worthwhile. Or even brush one's hair. Trees would not grow, and babies wont have the capacity to cry. Its the space between things, and gaps which allow non-things, like thoughts, to manifest. But since its not a 'thing', i guess the opening statement is absolutely correct. So, well done, everyone!

Tsem Tulku, himself a vegetarian, once said that people misunderstand that going vege means no more karmic accruements in relation to food consumption. There are consequences, just not as heavy. The key is abstinence and mindfulness. Vegetarians can be desirous, selfish gluttons too. Its the intent, the thoughts, that count in the end. Most vegetarians dont do so well in the work place. They are usually the first ones to catch whatever bug is present, and go on sick leave, for longer than most others. Shouldn't they be the healthier group?

Bluemonk, Plant new mind-seeds. Its the only way to cut the ties with the old. If you dont plant new seeds now, this moment, when will you start? One new positive seed a day is not too much to do. Perhaps this clip would be a good incentive to bring about a renewed sense of meaning and uncover some of the hidden brilliance which is our true nature.

Compassion is not the mere practice of being kind and giving and learning to accept things as they are -- its these, and much, much more -- reaching out to pick up a glass of water and drinking it when its needed is also an act of compassion. It appears there is motive, yes, thirst, one might say, but one must also see that the hand is not thirsty, nor the water has to give of itself, yet without their participation, its not possible to quench one's thirst. The whole process is one birthed from compassion, nothing else. Compassion is simply the fulfillment of the wisdom of natural sequence, the unalterable yet ever-evolving play of nature itself . It underlies and oversees all of existence, and all of the associated movements and recessions of beings and also non-beings... it is always impartial, always in accord with prior causes, and always effecting the next set of causes. Only when this is fully grasped does being kind, giving and accommodating become enriching, self-replenishing engagements 'n experiences. Partial understandings will only lead to feelings of inadequacy and depletion of energies, of the constant feeling of helplessness and not being able to do enough nor have enough. This plants seeds of discontent and puts money in gurus' pockets. Strangely enough, such feelings arise also from within the sphere of impartial compassionate energy. From such feelings, one eventually learns, even if it takes lifetimes, that the wisest thing to do is to simply allow for the movement of compassion to fulfill its own mysterious purpose. No amount of philosophy nor analysis can hope to unravel how this noble principle never, ever fails to deliver on time, every time. In actuality, there is really nothing for one to do or not do. Stop encroaching on your own potential. Let it be. Be. ~ . me . ~

Sometimes, when i watch something spontaneously joyful, the true meaning of impersonal, universal compassion at work becomes very clear, more so, when its expression becomes vivid away from the human realm, and, very often, i am reassured that if animals have no concept of what death is, why have we, the supposedly intelligent species, chosen to allow it such dominance over us?

Dzogchen's pinnacle is the utter and complete realization of the inseparability of wisdom and compassion. AV does not seem to encapsulate the truth of compassion in its impeccable search for wisdom. Hence, in my opinion, Dzogchen takes one further. Unfabricated presence is meaningless without compassion as its basis.
