Excellent post Xabir - 'Clarity' exemplified. I wish some of us who claim to be proponents and staunch flag-bearers of 'Clarity' could lay out their thoughts in the same simple ease with which you have shown in your last post.

What more reason does anyone need, succumbing to lust, other than passion? It happens to be a strong, natural force. Striving for Siddhis is a kind of lust too... so is abhorring same. Even the gods and goddesses abiding in the bliss realms can fall... gurus are no exception. That which we perceive and judge as 'human weaknesses' are none other than Nature's way of ensuring the unfailing and infinite processes of purification. Evolution would not be possible without these lessons that She bestows equanimously on us all - whether our name is John, Jane or Swamiji.

Yes it was pretty interesting, SC. I am all for raw foods/fruits... but at the same time i'd be wary of overdosing on potassium(bananas) as it can be potentially fatal, according to this article: http://www.ehow.com/about_5104024_potassium-overdose-symptoms.html Perhaps eating that many bananas a day could well be hazardous.

Considering that approx 95% of the universe is invisible, it comes as no surprise that as 'minds' evolve, an expansion of consciousness would naturally unveil new depths and heights, or dimensions, of mysticism. This is not a new phenomena though; its a process, or a loop, that is surely beginningless and endless. Those whose practice carry them to higher vibrational frequencies are initially gifted with glimpses in/out to these dimensions, and subsequently, as the practice progresses, begin to immerse deeper, and then eventually a kind of merger occurs. Those who are stable and grounded would instinctively know what to do with this 'expanded consciousness', on the other hand, those that arent, well, they just have to relearn the whole shebang wont they? Moments, or lifetimes, is immaterial, as DC says, in this continuum - Nature has its own way of ensuring purification. Perhaps this blog entry/clip entitled DARK MATTER, DARK ENERGY, DARK INFORMATION can add some topical spice to the subject: All the best, always.

Sorry Jane... I am Malaysian, and just want to say this observation is pretty outdated. May be true back in the early 60s. Malaysia is the most technologically progressive nation in South East Asia for the last 10 years. I am sure 'the locals' are not as gullible as you have tried to imagine them to be. Unless you have actually spent time in these places, it might be wise not to assume that supernatural tricksters and charlatans abound there...

Here's a short discourse given by Adyashanti entitled "The Experience of No Self".
-
"The greatest achievement is selflessness. The greatest worth is self-mastery. The greatest quality is seeking to serve others. The greatest precept is continual awareness. The greatest medicine is the emptiness of all things. The greatest action is not conforming to the ways of the world. The greatest magic is transmuting the passions and emotions. The greatest generosity is non-attachment. The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind. the greatest patience is humility. The greatest effort is not concerned with results. The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go. The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances." -- Atisha --

Discussion about supernormal abilities of various masters
C T replied to hajimesaito's topic in General Discussion
I recall one retreat i attended back in 96 at a center located in the west of Ireland. It was Christmas Eve/Retreat Eve night and the weather was calm and cold, but no apparent signs that it was cold enough for snow. Woke up at 4 the next morning to begin the retreat, and upon stepping outside, to everyone's amazement, the whole place was blanketed with snow! Its even more amazing because Ireland is not a country known for wintry snow and sleet, hence its pretty rare to see snow showers, let alone heavy snow fall. Anyway, we could put this down to sheer co-incidence. And on we went to begin the retreat which was held in the main hall of the center, which has bay windows overlooking the mighty Atlantic ocean. An awesome sight indeed. Lunch break came around at about 1pm, whereby all the retreatants were asked to observe total silence, as per the norm. After lunch, a number of us returned to the hall and sat quietly looking out into the bay, pretending to be in deep contemplation... when in actual fact some were feeling rather sleepy due to the early rising. Next thing we knew, a pod of dolphins appeared in the distance, and began playing, for at least a half hour, before disappearing back into the deep. It was a rare sight - i had been in personal retreat for six months prior to Christmas, and have been in the hall every day, looking out many times yet have never seen any dolphins before that afternoon! Two 'pleasant' incidences in the one day is quite something. I have also witnessed the sudden appearance of rainbows coinciding with the presence of certain 'very nice' Tibetan masters... -

The essence of the teaching is to accept that one cant swim in the first place. It is the non-acceptance of inherently ever-changing self-imposed conditions that create discord. As the saying goes, "Tis wise he that knows he is a fool; tis foolish he that thinks he is wise."
