Where would you like to start? I have accounts going back to 2011, covering sexual misconduct & harassment (payoffs too), white supremacy, alternate facts (more like unsubstantiated claims) to stoke his base, dubious foreign dealings, both before & after office, staff & administration, family business shady deals, policy, environmental cock-ups? Not to mention going down in history as the president who's got 3500 lawsuits to his name. There must be thousands. Im sure at least a handful must be real. What you think? But I can already hear Joeblast's mind working.... lol so maybe none too productive to enter into too many details.

I think its easy to stoke the fire of discontent, borrowing Stosh's honest admittance to further your own battle. Are you feeling a little insecure lately, bruh? But your comment about attachment is spot on! lol As for being a neutral & unbiased critic, its pretty simple to explain why such an assertion was made (speaking for myself) - I don't entertain notions of any hypothetical scenario where another individual or party is assumed to be a more effective than the current one. Biasness is associated with preferential arguments, which is basically what you & some others espouse here, whereas I care not if Trump stays for another 6 terms, as candidly mentioned by Aetherous lol Its easy to be neutral critic when there's no personal gain or loss at stake. If I say a person A has an immoral stench, thats a neutral view based on direct observation of his character - but if I add a perspective endorsing person B, saying he/she possesses greater moral aptitude and therefore will be a better alternative to person A, then that is the definition of bias as per this argument. Actually its not necessary to rely on msm to form certain opinions about Trump. There are plenty of valid incidents about his past to draw from, and if you insist on maintaining that narrative about being fed solely by msm, I think you're giving msm too much credit, and not enough to the real scandals surrounding this man who is the subject of this thread.

How did Stosh go from being a genial bloke here on TDB to an angry sonofagun? If you pattern your responses to include taking criticisms of trump personally, and then attacking those offering their views according to the scope of their understanding, then maybe opening this thread isn't such a good idea since the message and vibe being promulgated here is felt to be very non-friendly. Please make clear your preferences. If all you're wishing to achieve with this thread is to resoundingly sing the glories of trump with your band of like-minded thinkers, maybe you should included a bolded message of such intentions at the start - just to avoid misunderstandings. Otherwise it might appear, as it seems to be happening now, that you are baiting for opportunities to feel justified in your anger. None too wise.

Appreciate the candour. Personal insights are infinitely more valuable than bashing posts. Same goes to LiT & other contributors along this vein.

And I take that to mean that your quality of life has improved, meaning you feel confident in this style of leadership, and would like to see a second term? It should be quite obvious, but I just need to ask. In the eyes of many, there is massive effort to whitewash his scandalous past, but its fine if you want to call that a difference of opinion. Thanks, appreciate the response.

Thanks for the frank replies and for humouring me, some of you ... special mention to the OP for the candid but empty lecture a few posts up. Dawei presented some interesting points worth noting. It appears there's overwhelming interest to whitewash this president's apparent inadequacies, but thats understandable - its quite normal to expect deliverance from each transition of leadership. Hope it works out for the benefit of the country as a whole.

How is expressing my view about some president, who, in my opinion, displays habitually the hallmarks of someone unfit for office considered a phony argument? Granted, he may have his appeal to a percentage of the population who have been waiting impatiently for this current upheaval, and hoping that finally all thats wrong for decades will finally be put right, but its clear, as an observer that have no dog in the fight, that such optimism may be short-lived, and if you believe otherwise, more power to you, and to others who want to maintain that same level of dogged determination to take the side of a leader who will go down in history as the most divisive and partisan the US has ever, and probably will ever see. As far as I know, a leader who commands the respect of only half a platoon is an abject failure, or is that too naive a statement? No leader worth his salt wilfully seeks to divide a country the way this current one is doing - and its obvious that should any major crisis of destabilisation were to occur within the next couple of years, its not hard to imagine where the blame will be directed, judging from how things are unfolding, not only there in America, but all over the world. This president is weakening the very foundation that made America great in the eyes of the world, and is being applauded for it. This in itself speaks volumes as to how the future of your country is going to unfold, sadly. Its easy to blame the dems, and whoever else for the mess and make them out to be the bad guys, but in effect, if Trump is truly dedicated to what he says he wants to do for your country, and if he's running a tight ship, he sure has a funny way of going about it.

Seeing, Recognising & Maintaining One's Enlightening Potential

slander? projecting much, Stosh? lol

I am a neutral observer as I have nothing to gain or lose whether Trump remains or gets booted out, other than a bit of satisfaction should it be the latter. You have your reasons for believing otherwise, and I have mine for putting forward that position, but you don't have to buy it. As stated, Im not really interested in the oneupmanship and other political games being played by both sides, other than to study this interesting character that is now the subject of this thread. And if you can't tell the difference between judgement and opinion, thats something you need to work on, rather than reacting to criticisms directed not at Trump as an individual, but his capacity, or lack of, from the eyes of those who do not have any vested interest in the affairs of the US. It is like watching House of Cards all over again lol, only this appears more real.

Seeing, Recognising & Maintaining One's Enlightening Potential

~ BUDDHA SPEAKS ~ Mahamati: World Honored One, how did the Bodhisattvas and Mahasattvas abandon the view of an absolute arising, dwelling, or dissolving? Buddha: They abandoned it in this manner. They cognized that all phenomena are like an ephemeral illusion and dream, that they are detached from the duality of self and others, and that they are therefore unborn [emptiness.] They focused on the mind's manifestations and cognized external reality as unreal. By perceiving the unreality of phenomena, they brought about the cessation of the outflowing sensory consciousness. Because they cognized the unreality of their psychosomatic aggregates and the interacting conditions of the three planes of cosmic existence as originating from their deluded mind, they saw external and internal phenomena as devoid of any inherent nature and as transcending all concepts. Having abandoned the view of an absolute arising [of phenomena,] they realized the illusory nature and thereby attained insight into the unborn Dharma [expanse of emptiness.] -
Just one among many... Lindsay Graham then: "He's a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot," Graham said. "He doesn't represent my party. He doesn't represent the values that the men and women who wear the uniform are fighting for. ... He's the ISIL man of the year." Lindsay Graham, the sworn defender of conservative values, in real time after he got the lollies promised.... “I am like the happiest dude in America right now,” a beaming Graham said on Fox & Friends. “We have got a president and a national security team that I’ve been dreaming of for eight years. I am all in. Keep it up, Donald,” Graham added. “I'm sure you're watching." Open to individual interpretation, but people are not deaf or blind. The former president of Trump Plaza Hotel, Jack O Donnell, confirmed Trump's unabashed liking for racist & discriminatory slurs, stating, "“Donald Trump makes racist comments all the time. Once you know him, he speaks his mind about race very openly."

I was driving home from work one early evening when I saw the flash of a police camera. I figured it went off for exceeding the speed limit even though I knew I wasn't speeding. Just to be sure, I went around the block again, passing the same spot, driving even more slowly, and again, the camera flashed. Now I began to think this was quite funny, so I drove even slower as I passed the spot once more, but the camera again flashed! I tried a fourth and fifth time with the same result, and was now laughing in between muttering unutterables as I rolled the car past at a snail's pace. By that time, I had almost forgotten how preoccupied I was as I left work, trying to make sense of an internal audit that was taking longer than it should. Two weeks later, I got five tickets in the mail for driving without a seat belt.

Yes, its obvious from my earlier allusion to pandora's box that i can sense some great dismantling happening. Traitors are one thing, but spineless, gutless, and hypocritical yes-mens are almost the same thing, and there are a few buzzing around Trump. Why not call them out for their hypocrisy?
-
This meltdown's not just coming from one side, right? I mean, this thread and its predecessor screams the obvious. But i get what you're saying.
-
A three legged horse may be entertaining for a while, but thats all there is to it. People don't expect it to win races, and those that do are being unrealistically optimistic imo.
-
Perhaps there was exuberant curiosity to see whats in pandora's box... now that the lid is being lifted, I can see that the future for all is rather bleak, and I don't think Trump has the intelligence to actually contain at least some of the madness being unleashed.
-
Just because I keep to the topic it will appear as if im not neutral, but i assure you, there is no love for anyone who displays the kind of flaws that Trump does, regardless.
-
You forgot to mention that the call outs were met with equally furious and even bizarre push backs, and then some. lol
-
Not really keen to engage with justifications, however, its good to note i cannot be anything but neutral - i'd be as critical if a dem president were to behave as ghastly as this one. As for being an observer, not sure what else can I be since thats all I do.... observe how uncritical you guys are to one side.
-
Thats just my opinion, not an accusation, based on what he publicly uttered wrt the latest spat with the dems.
-
Thats your opinion, and you're entitled to it. The same could be said of Trump, but of course, in your eyes and others here, he can do no wrong since there's so little objectivity present, making one wonder what the real purpose of this thread is, other than to vent how crooked, ignorant, biased, incompetent, corrupt everyone else is, when the focus, if done objectively, should remain on Trump, evaluating his strengths as well as weaknesses in equal measure, minus some of the irrelevant conspiracy theories which has nothing to do with the topic at all. I wish one of you will call him out on his uncouth remarks even once, but like those immediately in his circle, you guys cant seem to bring yourself to acknowledge his imperfections. If this is not an indication of bias, and even maybe a lack of courage, I dont know what is. Being a neutral observer, i suppose this really irks me some, and please dont misunderstand and attack my position.
-
Its so easy to ignore the president's gangsterish & downright racist outbursts by demeaning and poking fun at the people who's at the receiving end. There are options to embellish your point without the need to diminish another's character, or maybe because such is being normalised by Trump it somehow makes it okay?
