  1. Ruthless Truth

  2. Ruthless Truth

Why do i do this? A Taoist site populated by angry Buddhists, insisting they are the keepers of the 'right way'.. i am pleased that you find your judgement of others so easily, and with such compassion.. but, a "cultivator" of Life (i am not limited by Taoist labeling) simply expresses understanding.. Be well..
  3. Ruthless Truth

Greetings.. I've been banned from the site for asking questions Cirian couldn't answer, and which caused his mindless puppets to waver from his control, but.. feel free to check out the exchanges, same handle as here, tzujanli.. Cirian will not address the critical flaw in his belief.. if there is not a 'you', why are there nearly 7 Billion of them? Be well..
  4. The Nature of Self

Hi Marblehead: I like my Tea hot and plain, to chase the Cointreau on the rocks.. Be well..
  5. The Nature of Self

Greetings.. Comparing Taoist thought prior to its Buddhist and Confucianism influence with it after the influence, is like drinking tea.. there is the original Tea, then you add sugar and milk.. describing how much you like Tea with sugar or Tea with milk, or with both, is not the same as the Original Tea.. what flavor is your Tea? Be well..
  6. The Nature of Self

Greetings.. The nature of 'self' is to be very curious, to take itself apart and find-out what it 'is'.. then, it becomes curious as to why other selfs don't think they are like the personal self thinks it 'is'.. then, especially based on this thread, the selfs decide to try to take each other apart to prove to the other selfs they are like the personal selfs think they are.. it's an odd dance the selfs do, taking each other apart and disagreeing with what they see.. i don't quite understand it.. Be well..
  7. The Nature of Self

Greetings.. It seems disrespectful to the simple principle of Life to 'not care', because it is clear that we are the catalyst of our own outcome.. without each individual's contribution to its own existence, there would be no 'outcome'.. the truth of this is simple honesty, not intellectualized complexities wherein desire is disguised as truth.. Be well..
  8. The Nature of Self

To be brief and direct.. no, it is unacceptable to lecture conscious individuals on your version of 'isness', while holding your superiority with a practiced leisure.. the only thing you "must" do, is Live.. and all you can do with that is over-intellectualize your self-image.. so, "stop being right", just stop.. there is post after post of 'rightness', of 'i know and you don't'.. Be well..
  9. The Nature of Self

Greetings.. The forum is not "devoted to Asian Studies".. as it states, it is "discussions on the way", 'way' being the literal translation of 'Tao'.. it is interesting, as i visit again, that Buddhists are still insistent that their perspectives should be the topic of discussion.. but, in fairness, it is their 'nature'.. Unfortunately, it's always about something other than the 'way' things 'are', it's about how we 'want' them to be.. and, so it is, endless debates about wants, precious little about 'is'.. Be well..
  10. The Nature of Self

Greetings.. I visit this forum infrequently, now.. it has been months since i last visited, and.. while Life evolves and changes, the same people are having the same discussions on this forum.. there are a few people whose opinions here i feel are authentic and worthy of attentiveness, but only a few.. as a forum based on Tao, there is little evidence of its understanding, so.. i would ask, what is it about the simple living of one's Life (Tao), that inspires such attachment to matters of fantasy, and second-hand descriptions of other people's fantasies? don't tell 'me' your answers, have a sincere discussion with yourself.. i have no illusions that my post will make a difference, but i can speak with unconditional sincerity.. Be well..
  11. The Nature of Self

Greetings.. 'You' are the sum-total of your experiences, including the socio-religious conditioning.. in the instant of creation, the continuous unfolding of 'Now', you are either separated from the 'now' by engaging the 'you', or.. you become the relationship with your environment, allowing the relationship to redefine 'you', a continuous process.. punctuated by intervals of reality. Be well..
  12. Taoism Today -- The Controversy Continues

Greetings.. Tao Te Ching is brilliantly crafted, having the cadence and form of prose, the efficacy of an epiphany, and a practical simplicity.. while Chuang Tsu is like listening to Garrison Keillor trying to make a point, the 'point' is lost in the story, but you still 'get it'.. i favor both. I sense Tao.. in the silence between sounds, when i'm neither here nor there.. i spent much time studying Taoist 'thought', only to understand that as soon as you start practicing it, you stop living it.. I am most fond of a particular understanding of 'Tao': The word 'Tao' was used to avoid 'names' that might be formalized into beliefs, it simply means the 'way'.. from which i have come to understand Tao as, the 'way' things are.. so elegantly simple, such complicated relationships.. my later years are spent admiring the intricate relationships that are Life.. I am so grateful for Bums like Stigweard, they make my study of the relationships that are Life both easy and profound.. i am content, now, to be present for the experience.. to listen, adhere, and follow, not insisting nor resisting, feeling the essence as it manifests in real-time, integrating 'with it'.. i am also grateful for Marblehead, the occasional feedback giving me hope that i'm not as weird as i am.. Be well..
  13. Poems

Greetings.. Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. Be well..
  14. YMAA qigong material

Greetings.. I began training with Dr. Yang in 2002, he adjusted 15 years of misunderstanding QiGong and advanced much of my practice and understanding.. the Taiji Symbol/Diagram training, including the two person set is excellent.. Dr. Yang's Taiji Ball training is another whole dimension of the Taiji/QiGong experience.. and yes, Embryonic Breathingexpands the QiGong/Taiji experience exponentially.. Dr. Yang is an excellent teacher with a gift for actually transmitting the knowledge through experience.. as you might suspect, i highly recommend most of his material.. Be well..
  15. Taoist things to do

Greetings.. What's a 'Taoist'? Be well..
  16. Greetings.. The world's greatest martial art is... clarity.. not deceiving yourself about stuff like this.. more that the art, it is the artist that reveals the depths and usefulness of the art.. the art is useless without the artist.. Be well..
  17. Greetings.. "in each beginning there was One".. and the One experienced and knew only its Oneness, no other with which to experience itself, for feed back, or see itself in the eyes of the other.. There was only Oneness, alone, singularly existent in the infinite and eternal playgound of potential with no other to share.. The One, is capable of only 'one' awareness/thought.. 'I AM'.. the change that created the Cosmos was curiosity, "What AM I"?.. We/us/Life are that, we are the change, we are the answer to that first primal self-awareness, "What AM I"? there is only 'one' purpose, to experience "What I AM".. 'I' is both One and Many, a simply matter of how we choose to focus awareness.. the physical vehicle, the body, is the the artist's brush, which paints the answer of Life upon the canvas of infinite and eternal potential.. this is the clarity and simplicity of 'purpose', it is to experience.. Be well..
  18. Tao and Why.

Greetings.. It's all Tao, and everyone's a Taoist.. awareness of it is the issue.. if we care to notice, humans are indeed different in the reasoning capacity and creative uses of their physical bodies.. affording Tao it's dues, there must be a symbiotic function of these differences.. as in the human 'issues' you lament are no less Tao than the human issues you embrace.. Marblehead's rendition of the Serenity Prayer, is an excellent awareness.. as is the wisdoms of the Desiderata.. Life 'is', and so are we, so.. Live it with unconditional sincerity and gusto, and appreciate the quiet and still moments.. Be well..
  19. The purpose...

Greetings.. HI Twinner: For many years i have found the following to be consistent and without valid contradiction, it is very similar to your conclusion.. The One became many (we/us/Life), so it could experience its own existence.. Experience is the purpose. Be well..
  20. Cigarettes

Greetings.. To echo a point made by Taomeow, i find colognes, perfumes, and such fragrances to be as offensive as cigarette and cigar smoke.. i use naturally occuring and fragrance-free mineral salts to control perspiration odor.. Be well..
  21. The "True" Tao

Greetings.. I cannot find that which is not Tao.. but, i can find that which will see the Tao it believes, and believe the Tao it sees.. the most realized Taoist i've known, did not know they were 'Taoist'.. Be well..
  22. Is your Method really working?

Greetings.. I don't understand.. (seriously, i don't understand).. why would Truth be dependent on 'transcending form'.. isn't form the vehicle through which Life experiences Truth? Be well..
  23. Is your Method really working?

Hi Rene: Yes, it's flippin' brilliant!.. by the way, is "blush" the same as Rose? I don't know if it's a result of disciplines from earlier in my journey, but lately it seems that there is less chatter than stillness.. i tried setting-up an Excel Spreadsheet without engaging the mental activity, the client was amused.. briefly.. There's a time and a place for everything.. Be well..
  24. Modern Life

Greetings.. Occasionally, i go to a local mall, get a nice cup of coffee, find a isolated bench and just sit and watch the people.. i look into people's eyes, i look for signs of Life, Taoists know what that is.. usually, is just the mechanized maddness of meat-puppets, but.. every now and then, you see that spark of Life.. sometimes it's only a desperate spark, but there's hope.. sometimes, recognition is returned, a smile or a nod, or a passing kind word.. but then, there are the true encounters with Taoists that don't know they're taoists, yet.. they sit and chat and they are alive and vibrant.. ithen, i return to my solitude and practice with hope.. Be well..
  25. What is Tai-Chi?

Greetings.. I have only recently come to appreciate the profound wisdoms of the ancestors.. Taijiquan IS "Stillness in motion and motion in stillness", when you "stand like a mountain while you flow like a river".. Taiji is Life.. Be well..
