I would never have kids on my own. To adopt seems much more rewarding and noble to me, that will test a lot more things and much better in my opinion. As for marriage, dear god...it's evident that all these things are pure obsessions of the ego and pressure from society. It hides the fear of insecurity in people, of not being alone, the relief that life goes on, and the relief that you are special. To me, 90% of people getting married and having kids clearly feel that way, so they do it thinking they will get relief. Actually most of them don't even think about anything, they just do it. After all and if they are lucky they do get something, a perfect illusion. Wise people know better, they already know they are not alone, that life goes on and that they are special. They don't need to prove it to anyone else, including themselves. And of course, i'm not denying that the other 10% (i would say a lot less than that...) get wonderful and loving experiences from it! I definitely agree that family life, childs and the whole thing is a wonderful experience, but handled by wonderful individuals only. I doubt this world and most of us are remotely ready to handle it. -
I've heard good stuff about Mckenna's books before, The no-self issue, although it is mentioned a lot in different sources, it's still very controversial an hard to grasp. I personally (like many of you) can understand it to a certain point, but after all it's like understanding infinity. We get glimpses, and those in spiritual practices like us are quite certain that all is one, and there's no real ego or even soul, but the reality is that we are all individual beings, human, animals, and other, who experience emotions, thoughts, feelings and REALITY. The problem i have is that, i don't understand how without this duality one can keep experiencing it, one would become reality, but it still confuses me, someone must still experience something. I think no one knows at the end, perhaps we will when we die, or not, just infinite nothingness, like when we lose consciousness in sleep (which doesn't sound that good, that's why in my opinion there are too many religions and spiritual teachings promising heaven/nirvana/whatever...).

That's very interesting indeed! Well i don't eat fish, i'm just saying that i find it BETTER than nothing (and actually a perfect diet). I agree with you about the vegetarians, they are annoying to me and i'm one of them! hahaha. Vegans are worse of course.

I understand the Weston Price's link ideals, but there's no reason for a human being to eat a pig or a cow, period, just their appetite. They are raised and killed because of their taste only, nothing else. Fish as food...well that's a little hard for me to debate as i mentioned. The difference with mammals, as fishes are different to vegetables, is not only that they are sentient beings. Mammals and other animals, have much more interaction with humans than fishes do (they live under water after all). These are differences that we have to keep in mind (i don't eat fish though, and i used to go fishing a lot when i was young). I also agree that the whole Peta organization and hundreds of vegetarians, and vegans, are a little extreme in their views, and quite fanatical (they still have a point in most of their cases). You also have to understand that they are mocked everyday by ignorant people who couldn't care less about anything, not only animals.

Vegetarianism is one of the most annoying things to people, it directly implies mercifulness and better ethics. They know what they do is wrong. They will try to justify the killing because they LOVE to eat meat, nothing else. If meat weren't so tasty but more "healthy" as vegetables and fruits are, the world will have the same problem but reversed. This is not about health. Even if vegetarianism is not healthier than a pescetarian diet for example (i have to admit that a pescetarian diet sounds healthier, as fish meat have so many proteins and vitamins) we, the vegetarians, are aware of it, and we'll die younger for that cause, just as any obese person with clogged arteries will do for its own cause, hedonism.
-
My motto is, you should kill your own food. I don't have any problem milking a cow, growing vegetables and yes, kill them, but i do have a problem killing a pig, or a lamb, i won't do that, as i think it's not necessary. Having other people killing them for me makes me a hypocrite. Also, to quote the great George Bernard Shaw : "Animals are my friends, and i don't eat my friends".
-
Actually, only vegans have a problem with B12, your doctor is right about the animal source part, but he doesn't take into consideration milk (cheese, butter too) and eggs, that's why vegetarianism is not a problem for your health if you eat right (even without wheat, which i reckon it will be harder for you...). Look, i'm not an elitist about it, and i actually think a pescetarism diet (vegetarianism plus sea food) it's the most perfect diet to go in these days (as it all revolves around meat, we are not yet prepared as a race to go full veggie). Fishes at least live in the wild, they seem different somehow (i know they really aren't, well they are not mammals at least), and it's the only meat i would eat as a last resort. I don't see any justification in killing pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, and a large etc, just human appetite. Meat eaters don't have a point to defend at all, unless they want to defend cruelty. Of course, if you become a pescetarian, veggies and vegans will mock you just a meat eaters will do, it's stupid of course, you are only making an effort and actually care.

I became a vegetarian an year ago or so. I think the human body was created to adapt basically. You can definitely eat plants and animals, but you are not forced to do so. I think the only justification for eating an animal (even a human being, we can digest that perfectly too and i don't see anybody saying is natural) is for your own survival, and even in that situation, you still have a choice. The real problem though, is that we are killing billions of animals just for our own appetite's sake, just to add bacon to our burger. The craving for pleasure is that huge, and the killing of animals is just a tiny part. I don't agree with veganism as a lifestyle, although i find it very noble, it's just some sort of protest or activism against cruelty but nothing else. I don't see anything wrong in milking a cow humanely for example, some animals, like dogs, are so used to be with humans that they won't survive in the wild. Also, the whole B12 stuff is kinda ridiculous, everybody is trying to tell you how unhealthy it is to go vegan, but they don't have a problem eating in McDonalds and die of a heart attack at age 45...please. Even if it's based mostly on veganism, i suggest you watch Earthlings, it's a fine documentary with lots of insights of the whole industry (not only meat).

I really appreciate your time and dedication to explain me some particular points of this phenomenon. Either way, the basic problem is that i'm not interested, so i won't be getting the book any time soon. So i guess i'll lay low for the next weeks and hope for the best in the forum. Thanks a lot for everyone replying and sharing information and advises. -

Then sorry for my harsh words. Scotty, I also apologize for my words about Kunlun, but i'm being honest. I also find it incredible that you ask me to learn more about Kunlun (and that means buying their product...). All i can say about it is what i see and read, and i see lots of members writing in every topic imaginable about this practice as it is supposed to be a cornerstone of spiritual development. With all my flaws and wrong choices in words, i think no one can deny that almost 50% of the topics on the opening pages are Kunlun ones, and what i said that in almost every topic, in the third and four posts the whole thing goes into kunlun mode, no matter what the initial thread was. Do a search for Kunlun, Max, etc in google, it's all in taobums...Kunlun is not something you find in every esoteric, buddhist, taoist, new age forum or portal, it's just here. To the practitioners maybe there is nothing wrong with this, for someone like me who still can't understand what the hell is this word and practice, and why it is all over the forum, that is another story. -

Great reply, amazing. Copy & pasting a line out of context... Do i need to have something to say in every post? Sometime is better to be quiet, in my case, i don't have that much knowledge as i said, i want to learn and read about other experienced members, but all i get is kunlun nonsense, and how a guy named Max is the messiah. Perhaps i should be forced to post some mumbojumbo or reference kunlun in every topic like all these brainwashed (or salesmen) people do? That's a better behaviour? That will get me 100 more posts. Do i need 500 post to speak up? -

I don't think it's all about posting, views counts too i guess. Hell, i've been reading posts and visiting the forum for information as a guest more than as a member. My concern is that i feel, like me, many posters, old and potential new members can be turned off with this Kunlun stuff. I really think that this looks like an official kunlun forum than anything else. Perhaps i'm over reacting, or i have the wrong impression. I don't care about posting here, which is a kunlun topic after all, i feel something is wrong and this great forum is dying, i don't care how many posts i have either. Also, i really don't understand WHY Kunlun (Please don't tell me because it works...). I smell something fishy... -NLP and Max (Conman) Christensen -Is KunLun Bogus? Not to mention that almost every other topic you visit, the third or four post references Max, Kunlun, or whatever. Wake up people... -

That comparison is pretty stupid if you ask me. A more accurate would be if the bookshop i frequently visited and used to provide me books that interest me is now full of "How to become millonaire in a nanosecond" and because of this i can't hardly find good books anymore (what i think are good books of course). So, as a regular client, i would go ask someone in charge what the hell is wrong with this. Also, this is an exception, where i'm speaking up against kunlun, i never clicked in kunlun topics, but a lot of topics are full of kunlun stuff and discussion even if the topic is "What's the meaning of life". It seems that 80% of the members are into this. That's my main problem actually. That's where i found out what was all this kunlun stuff was too. Almost any topic here has a kunlun reference. Pathetic. I'm seriously thinking about leaving now, not that it will matter much to the forum owners or posters here, but it matters to me, i always thought this forum was awesome and full of insights, it really provided me with lots of cool information and experiences. So it will be very sad for me to go... -

I can say that i understand what you mean, and it's a great advise, seriously. In my defense, i didn't know about this trend stuff in the forum, however, the only thing i can say about it, is that the stuff you mention is much larger and i hate to say, "important" than this kunlun nonsense. To me it is so distracting and annoying because it's quoted as being something larger than life or something that really deserves the attention it gets, compared to all of the stuff you mentioned (buddhism, retention, emptiness, etc). I, myself question kunlun as nothing more than a scam. Call me an ignorant if you want (which i am after all, as i didn't read the book nor i think i will, i don't believe i should pay for knowledge, at least of this type). Thanks again for your words and suggestions. -

Well i won't stand behind his methods or posts, and it's not the real problem after all. I really believe in the forum description and intention, a place to trascend all of our dogmas and try to understand each other in this journey called life, as corny as it sounds. But all i can read in the last couple of months is borderline propaganda. -

The problem is that this is turning into a Kunlun forum, and it's pretty evident for me, i don't understand why it's not for others. I haven't mentioned or raised my voice on this matter until now, and my silence didn't help to stop the kunlun insanity, so i guess sharing my opinion on this won't make things worse, as i kinda feel it is all lost already, so i better speak up before it's too late. Maybe there are others, who like me, are completely fed up with it and want the tao bums back. -

I love this forum, but the whole kunlun thing it's a huge turnoff for me, i'm actually thinking of leaving, as having a kunlun subforum or whatever won't be a solution in my opinion. I know we should tolerate other people beliefs and opinions, but everyday i visit all i can read is kunlun this and kunlun that, no matter what the initial topic or thread is, and it's getting ridiculous. I won't touch the concept of being a scam or whatever, since it will be giving more relevance to it (i have no doubt in my mind that it is since the day i enter their website, that's all i will say and more than enough). Sorry if i offended anyone. -
When i meditate i seem to be able to relax my whole body except for my right arm. I always have to keep an eye for it in terms of tension, as it always gets stiff somehow. After five minutes or so that i have conciously relaxed it, it becomes tense again, like it is pushing or applying force to something. It's not that hard and i don't feel any pain at all, but i bet it hinders my ability to relax more and go deeper into my meditation. I've tried different positions with not much luck. Anyway, i have heard of people having tension in the jawline, shoulders, etc. Any advises?
-
I've tried the give attention/understanding method yesterday i can say it really helped me so far, in one session only. After a while it started to bother me less and less, and with less intensity, although the tension was still there at times, in the muscles behind my arm (i'm a lefty, and the tension is in my right arm). The problem with the not giving attention method mentioned by freeform, is that is similar to what i did before. Sadly, for me, i ended up with the tension rising, making me loose focus, and actually forcing me to conciously relax it. However, it's very interesting too, perhaps a mix of both techniques can do wonders!
-
Thanks a lot for the advises, i'll try them today, and keep them in mind in case of future tensions or distractions. It's weird to me at least, that it always happens to the same arm and basically feels the same way each time. There's definitely some kind of blockage there. Maybe it has been there for months and i only started noticing it now.

Never heard of "traversable wormholes?" Well, soon you might start hearing about them, as the world's most powerful particle accelerator becomes functional this spring - unleashing forces, capable of distorting not only space (just like gravity distorts space around Earth), but also TIME. http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/03/ti...t-particle.html
