I second this statement, this is very important.

I'm not familiar with any system of magic, however, i am on step 1 of Hermetics, besides that i don't have enough knowledge to be more specific.
-
I'm not really interested in learning any new forms of Qi Gong since i already have a full plate. However, i always enjoy hearing about other practitioners journies and experiences. -Thank you for the reccomendation. I will definetly put it on my list.
-
I'm curious does anyone know any books that explain the dangers of magic?
-
I have copy of Initiation into Hermetics and am taking my time on the first step, but this does sound very interesting.

-I've recently become interested in an author named C.W. Leadbeater and his works on dreamwork, philosophy, and the esoteric. -It's also come to my attention that he was a proponent of Theosophy(this is a new ideology to me). -I was wondering if anyone here has recovered any gems from his work or even studied Theosophy: based on what little i've read it does have some concepts in common with Taoism and would like anyone else's opinion who is well read on the topic as well as his books. -Thanks

A very simply, well researched, and down to earth book on Taoist sexual practices. I highly recommend it. http://www.amazon.com/Tao-Love-Sex-Compass/dp/0140193383/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_1

If that's your perspective then you should read this book. It will change your notions.
-
Thanks for the input everyone. It would appear that C.W. had a questionable character.
-
I concur with the above

I agree with the above statement. -On top of that i'd explain to your companion the various health reasons that you mentioned above (if you haven't already) and how you still orgasm even though you don't cum and enjoy you're time together. -When a man doesn't cum women may take as a sign there not doing something right and that can hurt her self esteem. Might also want to suggest to your chick some Taoist literature on sex so she can better understand your perspective. -This is how i would personally handle the situation, however, you must do what resonates with you.

Meditation turning me into a nice guy wuss
RiverSnake replied to Birdoftruth's topic in General Discussion
Might want to contemplate meditating on your root and solar plexus. -Peace -
Breath Sweeps Mind is the book that introduced me to meditation, and a good introduction it was. You can buy it on amazon for very a couple of bucks. http://www.amazon.com/Breath-Sweeps-Mind-Tricycle-Book/dp/157322653X/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top -However, meditation must ultimately be learned through practice, though good tips do help the process.

This is an excerpt from Daniel Reid's book on Chinese Medicine. It's designed for beginners like myself and i picked up some interesting tid-bits. These qualities can really add a depth to your practice. Enjoy The Eight Qualties of Abdominal Breathing Silent -Make your beathing as silent as possible. This requires that you breathe slowly and smoothly and keep your mind focused on your breeath. Fine -The stream of air flowing in and out of your nose and throat should be very fine, like a gentle breeze, not a coarse and choppy like a rustling wind. Slow -Each and every inhalation and exhalation should be performed slowly and deliberately, without rushing on to the next breath. To do this, your mind mus also be completely calm and unhurried. Instead of watching the clock, watch your breath. Deep -Draw each breath deep down into the abdomen by letting the lungs push the diaphragm downwards. This does not mean filling the lungs 100 percent full, for that would cause the chest, shoulder, and neck muscles to ense up. Inhale up to 70-80 percent capacity, remaining as relaxed as possiblewhile the abdomen expands, then switch slowly and smoothly over the exhalation and draw the abdomen inwards as the diaphragm rises. Long -Make your inhalations and exhalations as long as possible without straining or tensing the chest and abdomen. This requires that you breathe deeply and slowly and keep your mind focused on your breath. Soft -Cultivate a feeling of softness and smoothness while you breathe by keeping your muscles relaxed, your breath slow, and your mind calm. Continuous -Each inhalation should flow smoothly into the next exhalation, followed by another inhalation, and so forth, wihtout pausing or retaining the breath in between. Let inhalation and exhalation follow one another naturally and continuously, like the pendulum of a clock. Even -Try to make your inhalations and exhalations even in length and duration. This requires emotional equilibrium and mental quietude. It also provides the mind with something to focus on during practice. Daniel Reid: The Complete Book of Chinese Health and Healing

As important as it is to help get rid of the blocks in our body, i believe it is equally important to change the life-style we live so that we don't cause them again.

Hijacking Threads - New Policy Under Consideration

Yes, this thread needed to be done. I've noticed a degree of strife on the forum that could be easily allocated to nothingness with simple self moderation. -
Stillness Movement Neigong and Michael Lomax's 'Light Warrior's Guide' Book
RiverSnake replied to mjjbecker's topic in General Discussion
I'm usually pretty good at smelling bull-shit and from what i've read Michael Lomax seems like a genuine cat. I've not tried the still-ness movement qigong but am learning the Gift of the Tao from his DVD and am enjoying it. -I also believe it says in his book that Michael works at an alternative medicine hospital and has been healing for years. It would appear that he not only talks the talk but walks the walk. -I also recently read the book and very much enjoyed. -
When i don't feel like practicing i do it anyways and it's never been conter productive, i'm always glad i did it after. -Persistance in everything is key.
-
The most powerful technique for meditation is practice. -The more you do it the better you get at it.
-
-Step 1 in Initiation into Hermetics has a very good meditation tutorial guide. -It's on pg 35: http://www.spiritualsatanist.com/books/initiation.pdf -Good luck

Looks interesting. -I buy a ton of books from amazon. I reccomend reading all the reviews from 1 to 5 stars and then make a judgment. Start at the bottom. -The people who give a book 1 star are either very knowledgable professional on the topic or immature haters. Either way you can determine whether a book is a worthy read.

Cool stuff man, i enjoyed your videos. It's nice to know that their are so many masters and great teachers within Tao Bums.
