Do you improvise in Qi Gong and Tai Chi?
RiverSnake replied to oranssi's topic in General Discussion
I would say....do your research and find a system that resonates with you and stick to it. After practicing daily for many years and developing your own intuitive "knowing" capacity....then you may wish to start improvising....as you will actually be able to tell whether what your doing is healthy and effective.....or not. Each system is "VERY SPECIFIC" in what kind of flow it's attempting to trigger in the body....even small adjustments can cause unintentional non-beneficial shifts in it's effectiveness. -
Practicing Chi Kung is about as Daoisty as you can get. Welcome to TDB.

Just detoxing and adjusting. Keep going at a moderate pace and these things usually work themselves out.

Here's a good instructional video on Breath meditation.

Many practitioners use necklaces of beads (mala beads) so they can count there errors. So every time your concentration deviates you count a bead. When your done counting at the end of the meditation session you take note of how many beads you counted. Everyday you count and thus you can see your progress over time. Eventually you want to reach the goal of 0 beads counted. One of the primary points of meditation is to focus the mind. By meditating on a flame your using an external object as a point of focus to sharpen your mind. Another common tool for concentration is the breath, a mandala, a single thought (love, peace, emptiness....etc). By focusing on something you develop the mental tenacity to wrangle in the mind and then eventually use it for positive purposes or just to exist in a completely non-dual state. Hope that helps.

Light a candle and meditate on it. Count on beads every time you loose focus. Very basic, but very important for developing concentration. Your concentration needs to be relaxed rather than strained. Best of luck.

Heart Cultivation Practices Against Your Most Hated Enemies Who Betray You Every Nano-Second
RiverSnake replied to D.EVILGOD's topic in General Discussion
Opening the heart is a long process. It seems to me that you need to bring a type of standard balance into the surrounding primary channels before the heart can fully open. Just my observations so far. -

Another good video. There is a whole body of knowledge on psychic self defense, research it.

Some people are naturally empathic, others open up there sensitivity via training. Useful techniques in the video, there are others. Cultivate and protect your chi.

Looks like a good one.

The best way to alert the mods to a series of posts/pattern of behavior rather than report just one post?

If peoples posts are bothersome you can always put them on ignore. -

What have you learned from this forum that you consider invaluable?

Another thing i've learned from TDBs is how to handle trolls. It took me a few years of getting into internet battles but it was really good training to learn to handle that kind of attack (emotionally, psychologically, and energetically). This is a skill that most people on the internet lack and thus are easily manipulated into being fodder for keyboard jockeys. It's a key skill for basic PSD. -
An excellent book for men learning to face the challenges of manhood (Women, Work and Sexual Desire) and also for women who desire a deeper understanding of what makes a man tick. I like the kindle version but here is a free audio book of it.

First learned about Chi Kung from this forum. -
Yes to everything Brian just said. Look past the thin veneer of titles. There was nothing Patriotic about the Patriot Act and there is nothing "world saving" about the Paris Accords.

"You want a quiet, smooth-running brain that allows easy access to what is stored there. A cadillac engine of the mind. You don't want a sleepy, moody, ignorant, slow, or jerky brain with a bad memory as a result of not knowing how to do basic preventative maintenance. It's time to change the oil!"
