I watched about 6 seconds of the youtube film and decided it was bollox. Sounded too much like a bad plot for a sci-fi movie. I don't think the government is that organsied to make perfect conspiracies. Simply their greed and the way they treat the international community is enough to put terrorists on our streets. The people with the balls to blow themselves up are few and far between and are largely unconnected to any 'terroist organisation'. They are just disaffected muslims who cannot sit by as we conquer their countries and torture them all in the name of 'freedom' and 'democracy'. Most 'terrorists' that are arrested in the U.K. are largely just terrorist sympathisers. They are not planning anything at all. The recent arrest of a man in the UK reported that he taught his children to say things like 'death to blair, kill, kill'. He will now stand charge for terrorism. What they fail to say is if he was actually planning an attack. So it is reasonable to say there is no evidence that he was planning an attack. He was arrested on evidence from bugging his house. So the secret services are bugging people and charging them with terrorism based on what they have said in their own home. When I think about that happening in my own little world it becomes frightening. If I was having a conversation with my father and said 'yeah, fuck bush, he's and asshole'. Then the secret services bash my door in and charge me with terrorism. Then the media absolutely destroy me by publishing photos. It would ruin my life for an off the cuff remark said in my own home. I am sure there are many terrorist sympathisers here in the UK that are saying similar things but have no intention of acting upon them. If we are arresting them for 'thought crime' its just going to make the whole thing a lot worse.

Great video. Nice to see members/founders posting videos of themselves. Gives us a much better feeling of who they are and more of a community feeling here. Are there other videos of members? I could spend hours watching youtube!

It is certainly more respectful to celebrate their life than morn their death. I have always found that selfish. We morn because they are gone and we cant see them. You see us crying because our self interest cannot be fulfilled. We can't have more time with them. If we celebrated their life. We would celebrate their achievements and contributions to the world. A celebration of their life not a morning of our loss. I have always found mourning to be a selfish act. 'I didn't do this, or say that' borne out of our guilt for the mistreatment we served whilst they were alive. Speaking to people after funerals it is normally one great act of contrition and self interest that they mourn. For me death is as natural as taking a shit or being born. Yes I feel sorrow when a loved one dies but I know that to hold on will cause great pain. So I let go and celebrate and remember the joy of the time we spent together. Thankful for those precious moments. Because I know too that I will eventually die and I hope people celebrate my life and remember me fondly rather than mourn.

I believe there are aliens out there. No doubt. It would be stupid not to. After all, there are billions of stars with trillions of planets orbiting them. But to say they are here and kunlun has a secret about them they can only share with you for $1,000,000,000's is probably a load of bollox. But I could be wrong as Kunlun seems to know and do everything except be a cult. Psst don't mention cult, the sheeple get upset here. I actually believe there are creatures here on earth that we can't see or detect. Because every creature thinks it is the centre of the universe and in one respect its correct. You see my dogs know they have masters but if they see a frog out in the garden its toast. So from their point of view they are in the middle of all life. There are things above and below them. This is true for humans also. There are humans more and less developed than ourselves. But we as individuals see ourself in the middle. Its natures way to have higher and lower life. We see ourself higher than dogs but lesser than god or aliens. So in the universe we see ourselves as in the middle of life. So its not a great leap to think there is higher life living on this very planet and that we are in the middle of it. So the highest forms of life we cannot detect or see. And they are probably unaware of us. Its no different from an ant meeting a human. they cannot possibly grasp what they have met because its beyond their comprehension. And we of course are barely aware of them. I think they are not supreme beings or any crap like that. Just another life form living here that is above our comprehension/sensors at the moment. Who knows, we might build detectors that can pick them up in the future. I just know I am not top dog in the universe. It simply doesn't work that way

By the realisation that there is no death, just change. With this realisation you are 'immortal'. There is nothing that dies when you see it is all from the same dao. If a leaf falls from the tree and rots, does the tree die? People get a little confused with that one and go off and study all sorts of weird and wonderful practices in the hope of living forever. I don't want to live forever. It would be very boring as human form is quite limiting. Two arms, two legs, mouth etc. Imagine that for eternity. Didn't the first emperor of China die because he was looking for immortality? He was drinking mercury that sent him bonkers and eventually killed him. To seek immortality will only cause you pain and suffering. Its like swimming against the tide. All that struggle for nothing. Realise you will die. Then ask what is 'you'? And what is it that actually dies? What are you doing here and why? If you can ask this and get an answer then hopefully you can help others in this world too. It is much better than chasing your own tail. Taoist, Buddhist, Christian, Moslem, at the very heart they are all the same. Don't confuse them as different. The prophets were sages no different from lao tsu and boddhidarma. Just their teachings were misunderstood.

Of course business and the military use NLP. I have a degree in business and we covered this topic briefly but it is basically the foundation for all sales technique. I was quite disgusted with it so rejected a career in the corporate world. I am waiting to start my new job as a support worker in a Hostel. Its far more rewarding. Business and military use mainly pattern interrupts and anchoring. I will give and example: Car commercial: handsome bloke driving along a road surrounded by mountains - already this gives the association of car = freedom, exploration and liberation. Because mountain regions are normally only visited on holiday or people dream of seeing them. Then he has a bit of a flirt with some dolly bird who likes his style and they drive off into the distance - association with sex is one of the strongest motivators to purchase. car = bird = getting laid. Sex is probably the easiest anchor because its a strong motivator. That's why magazines have so many scantly clad women in them. Its a motivator to purchase. It also makes you frustrated and willing to work harder and do longer hours in the hope that it will make you more appealing to the opposite sex. This is why working class newspapers have so much sex in them. They make a male frustrated and promise them success if they buy this or that product. So they work harder and longer hours to buy the products they need and believe will help them to get laid. With middle class people money is a better motivator sometimes. So the newspapers normally tout fear of financial ruin and exotic holidays to impress the ladies. I don't know if it has all been carefully orchestrated by sinister people or gradually developed from trials. But pretty much all media is designed to create opinion and stimulate economic growth. What Derren does is a bit of NLP and magic. NLP on that scale is a bit hit and miss. But on national or global scale its far more effective. I also used to work in a call centre and used NLP with some pretty good success. It made me feel like crap using it to take peoples money. So I got out. Its basically a tool for excellent communication and persuasion.

I never get tired of these. Just priceless. Kiai (chi) has its place and that's for health benefits. outside of this in terns of zapping people. its not so great! We should get a forum dedicated to Jedi dreamers. So when they come here claiming levitation, and lightning bolts from their fingers we could politely direct them to the forum. Maybe it will save them thousands of dollars and years of wasted time and effort.

I shared xenolith's thoughts as I was reading all of the posts. $ paid is not proportunate to attainment level Why do people think they have to pay for attaining dao? what is attaining dao anyway? Sattori? Sattori can't be paid for by any currency. Education can be bought. I went to university will quite a few people who shouldn't have been there. But they scraped though by cheating and got themselves a degree. It was their money which paid for it. Not their character. How can anything spiritual be bought? It can help you along the path by reading books and attending seminars. But what you get out of this is entirely up to you. Someone once said: 'people have intellectual freedom to read and believe what they want. Simply because most people have no intellect'. The truth is that the path to Dao can only be yours. You can't walk others path and paying people won't get you further down the road. Hard work and commitment wont even get you there. Because when you get it, you will realise it was there all along. It was just your mind playing tricks on you. Exploring zen has helped me in this realisation.

I never understand why people insist they can do taoist magic like floating and what not. We never seem to be short of them here on the forum. If they can, come out and prove it to science. You will change the world overnight. No bullshit like it creates yang energy in my pinkie finger which will result in global war. Simply go to your nearest university science department, introduce yourself and say 'look what neat shit I can do'. They will get research grants for life and you will be rich beyond your wildest dreams. This is a topic I have thought of often. Do I retire from the world and find my little space where I can forget about the petty squabbles of humanity or do I take what I have learned and try to make the world a better place? Is it selfish for me to run off and leave the children to argue and fight? Or do I try to teach them to play together nicely? Or would my interfering be just part of the problem and I would only get tangled in the web? Personally I prefer to be in the world neck deep in the mire because occasionally you will find gold in the goodness of people.

Yeah its pretty hard to get excited about a black or woman president when they are just the same puppets that are going to push the same agendas. Its quite interesting to watch it from the UK because we are looking which direction the US will go. When 'hope', 'honour' and my favourite 'freedom' is all that has been touted. We don't need to worry about any radical change. Pretty much same old, same old. on a positive note at least the US should get an articulate and intelligent president this time around.

Dr. yang jwing Ming has excellent material on taiji and Qigong including meditation. He has books and DVD's that are excellent. He has also been voted 'kung fu man of the year' by Inside Kung fu at least twice. Once in the 80's and this year also. This is awarded for the most influential and contributive member of the martial arts industry so you can be assured he is legit and quality. For me QiGong is used to keep me healthy and build my martial arts. Not sure what the internal alchemy is. I have read a few posts here about ejaculating from your third eye. Not sure about that as i only ejaculate from one eye Try not to get bogged down in too much confusion and crap. If you go too deep you wont leave your house on a crescent moon because your yin chi will be too strong creating a deficiency in your spleen making you liable to spontaneous combustion on said days. Like I said 'keep away from the crap'. Start off with taiji, yoga, meditation. Taiji is good for helping with depression. Get some hypnosis cd's that will lift your mood. I recommend anthony robbins.

I have 'To Be Human by Jiddu Krishnamurti' on its way to the UK from the US after Steve's recommendation. So this would be my preference. Alternating between theory and practice books is a great decision as I lean more to theory but this gives the best for everyone. If the book is chosen, I will make a real effort to write down my thoughts and views on the book and compile them into something readable. It might help other people reading it and also people here could answer questions that I may have. I think interacting this way between ourselves is really healthy. Its great to post in the forum but that does get a little dull sometimes. I haven't had the opportunity to share my thoughts about the books I read so I am looking forward to this.

During a deep hpynosis I experienced a rolling and pulsating movement. I could feel forward motion and travel. It was a similar motion feeling to being in a car but there was a rolling, changing, rocking, repetitive motion. I had no idea what it was but decided to let it run its natural course and just experience it for what it was. Slowly the physical experiences solidified form loose movement to directed motion. Quite hard to explain. It was only when the movements solidified that I realised I was a horse I was galloping. it was quite a pleasant experience but slightly scary as I had no feeling of my human body but was completely experiencing being a galloping horse. It was very weird as I have no interest in horses what so ever. I never intended to have an OBE and didn't realise what it was until the last few moments. I was listening to a relaxation hypnosis CD and it happened.

When I first joined Tao Bums it was an open discussion forum that was for me a valuable resource. I felt I could ask questions and there were a lot of people who were a valuable help to my learning. I see we have over 7,000 members now and the atmosphere is turning a little sour. A review of the forum is much needed. Perhaps the "Taoist Discussion" forum needs to be broken into separate sections so it is easier to navigate if you are looking for information or help. This would be better than the run of random posts. Different interests will hang out in different sections so we are less likely to offend each other. A forum on Yang style Taiji can be separate from Kunlun for example. this will cater for all different tastes of Taoism. The forum structure from when I started has changed little but the membership has grown massively. We need to adjust to this growth otherwise the forum will stagnate and die. This is already happening as I see there are a lot of arguments and random posts that aren't relevant at all. What are other peoples thoughts on the future and development of the forum?

My consciousness awoke once whilst my body was still sleeping. It was absolutely terrifying. I was in a black space and only existed as thought. I couldn't feel anything physically. What was most terrifying was that I couldn't feel my breathing. So I thought I was dead. Existing as nothing but isolated thought in darkness was not a pleasant experience for me. And I wouldn't want to go there again. I have also tried OBE every time I get close I can't let go of that final connection with the body and I am overcome with fear. It feels as if I would die if I severed that connection. People have mentioned other entities in that realm. I certainly would rather not be meeting anything there with bad intentions so stopped practice. It was a little too intense/high risk for me. Because I don't know what is on the other side. Maybe a guide is needed.
