  1. Zhan Zhuang

Thanks! Yes, Im very happy with my standing! It a magical practice! Totally unique! Nothing like it! Just gets better and better! Your english works very good(said the guy who has problems with his own english...) Im not shure I understand the Earth posture though. I cant see any reference to it in the Way of Energy book. Do you mean that the hands and forearms are parallell to the floor with finger pointing towords each other like the top of the pyramid? There is not so much information about Zhan Zhuang other than what is presented in The Way og Energy Book.

What is Water and Earth Posture? Do you mean Standing in the Stream?

Thanks Little1. I was hoping for your answer And I hope you will continue this discussion a little bit. Sensing is also sort of visualization, from my perspective. It is creating something out of your own conditioning instead of letting it happen naturally by being in stillness, like mentioned in the quote. From my perspective it looks like with visualization(including all 5 senses), we still have to wait for the union of breath and mind to take place. But in addition we have a lot higher risk of getting stuck in delution. I can visualize whatever I want, and I allways use all my senses to make it a physical sensation. My teacher calls it "perseptering" in Norwegian, translates to something like "percepting" or "perceptation" in english. Its including all senses, emotions and everything to make it as close to the real experience as possible. I can get the MCO going with visualization in no-time. And Im shure if I spend one week visualizing a cauldron steaming in my stomach it will "feel" very real. But is it real? I suspect it is not the really real thing. And then what is the point? How many years have you been doing the Fusion forumlas, Little1? And how do we know when to move from first-Fusion to the next Fusion-level?

  6. Love is Necessary

Yes, but you know, when you love even your own anger you can kick the killer in the balls and break his neck and still forgive and love both yourself and him while your doing it But it is difficult in the beginning. We are so stuck in our own conditioning and patterns that it is difficult to see anything else. We are simply not able to understand anything that transcends our own patterns and conditioning. The remedy for this is stillnessmeditation, thats my opinion and experience. Stillness is the only thing that quiets our conditioning and makes us able to recieve new impulses and develop our selves. It is the only practice that makes you able to really transcend. Visualizations for transcending would still be created within our conditioning and therefore will never be able to transcend it. You can not transcend the physical reality by building a plane. But with stillness we open ourselves up and transcendence happens naturally, almost like diffusion.
  7. Love is Necessary

Its the opposite of "emotional love", yes.
  8. Kunlun Portland 2008

Oh but we care very much about YMWong contribution. He is one of those rare but precious gems that make taobums worth hanging around for us interested in taoism more than just regular spirituality.
  9. White Skeleton Meditation

Like always with these abilities, it only works on those that are open to it. That is their long term students or people sensitive to suggestion. But I have yet to see anyone marketing their (extremely divine super-high level)abilities with this understanding...
  10. Dr Wayne W Dyer Book on Tao

I have the audiobook and listen to a few chapters it every now and then. It just inspirational and uplifting. Not much more. I dont think it is an introduction to the taoist way at all. It is just his personal interpretation of TTC and how he use it to bring joy, health, and an emotional positive view of life.
  11. Love is Necessary

Well, you are not wrong, your understanding is just not complete. We might say there are two kinds of love. One is the human and emotional love that make us connect to eachother. The other is the divine and spiritual love that make everything connect to everything else. The spiritual love transcends everything and is independent of everything. Even anger. When you connect to the spiritual love it affects and increses the emotional love. But because it transcends it also accepts everything. This way you can be angry and still feel this love. You can look at someone you dont like, and still feel spiritual love. And you can see your own or others flaws and love them.
  12. Love is Necessary

No, there is no opposite of love. Love just is. If there is something not worthy of your love, you are not really loving wholeheartedly. You would instead be putting limits to your love. And thats not what we want, right?
  13. Love is Necessary

It is possible to love anger aswell So it is not eliminated, just loved.
  14. safe moments

dude, now you make ME cry too... These moments are what makes life so good. I have them all the time. Yesterday I took a plane and as we lifted a thought, or a state of mind, just grabbed me and made me think of my girlfried and the moments we have where we are close. The fact that it will all pass away someday makes me really appreciate the moment and my situation. And when the moment opens up, or when I open up to the moment, there is nothing but deep appreciation and like you say it, a sweet soft pain. I crave this kind of pain. Your post made my day Hagar! Thanks a lot!
  15. Is this to be understood literally? Does the breathing through lungs stop completely, like in no diaphragmic movement, or is it just slowed down to the point that is "looks like" or "feels like" it has stopped?
  16. Why is payment necessary for learning the Tao?

Wow, this comment should not drown in all other comments.

  20. Only Stillness Meditation anyone?

Stillnessmeditation is the only meditation that lets the body, mind and spirit do its job, which is healing, evolving and rejoicing in life, properly. Stillness means that the body, mind and spirit wont get distracted by our conscious (and unconscious) constantly confirming limitations and illusions. When are still we let our natural, immanent intelligence take over. And this intelligence is endlessly more intelligent than what we are able to imagine in our little illusory mind Just look at nature, look at our fysiology. The complexity and perfectly syncronized activity of every single molecule, to every single cell, to every singel organ, to every single organism, to interaction of emotions, to mind, to spirit, to tao, to... to... to.... It is just amazing. And it all works without our illusory mind directing it in any way. And as suggested by all the research being done on meditation, this whole organism we are, including body, mind and spirit, works BETTER when we dont interfere(by being still)

  23. Compare Dan Tien to Chakra?

But when we recognize it as different systems alltogether, the confusion ends
  24. Compare Dan Tien to Chakra?

Oh we have a lot more trouble than that I have never heard any daoist say that the Dan Tiens spin. Not have I heard that the say they are vortexes either. AND, we have a lot more than 7 chakras. The 7 are just the main outline of the chakra system, not the whole system. So actually, I guess that if we go into detail with this we might find chakras that correspond directly to Dan Tiens. But the hara, heart and third eye as it is being used in the west, is not the same as the three dan tiens cultivated in qigong and taoism. Yes we might get approximately the same experience, and masters might give you approximately the same descriptions of them, but still, there are differences so big that we cannot say they are just different words describing the same thing. They are different system just superimposed in the same physical area. I learned Thai Massasge a few months ago, where we use nadis instead of meridians. Now the thing is that in Thai Massage you press really hard. I never understood why they did that. But after working a little bit with it, and doing it pretty lightly so I didnt hurt the patients, I met a muscle that needed some more pressure. So I pushed down really hard and at that moment I realized that this pressure was needed to activate the nadi. I could see how the whole body adjusted and I felt the flow of energy activate. So you see Thai Massage and Meridian massage work with two different energysystem. One with the nadis, another with the meridians. But still, most textbooks and even proffesional Thai Massagists say meridians and nadis are the same. There is truckloads of confusion out there...
  25. Compare Dan Tien to Chakra?

But Xuesheng, dont you think there are several levels to this reality? Is it so strange that maby different cultures focus on different levels as an expression of their own level and karma? That is why I am fairly confident that the chakras and dan tiens are different. They are working on different levels of reality. The chakras are more related to the consiousness spectrum, and the dan tiens are more related to the body. It reflects the general difference between buddhist and taoist practice, buddhists work with consciousness first and foremost, taoists works to bring the body along. Also, based on my own work with the chakras these last 7 years, and the dan tiens this last year. The feeling of water running from lower Dan Tien to the heart has never occured in my hara chakra. A lot happens to my dan tien that does not happen to may hara. To me they seem like two very different systems working with two very different levels of reality. But if we look at the reality as a whole, like looking at the body as a whole, then describing each system(nerves, blod, etc.) by it self in an attemt to explain the body would be very limiting. So viewing it from that perspective, they would just be part of the same ONE reality.
