I totally agree, it is not a MUST. But it is not horse shmock either. Its a wonderful meditation posture and something I certainly wouldnt scare anyone away from, but rather encourage anyone who is interested to learn it in a balanced way. Your campaign really looks like it is AGAINST full lotus.
-
So you are anti-full lotus. But are you saying that full lotus is to be avoided or just that is shouldnt be over-estimated as tradition might have done? When you do full lotus, do you feel no difference to sitting with a straight back?

Yes, rain! Every embrace and expression of love is important! Very important! But still not any more important that expression of not-love, if we look at the big picture. If we look at the fact that we are souls being reborn again and again in different personalities with different fates, having eperienced every aspect of life, both good and bad... the love we then feel is not an emotional love like "Oh my God my heart is so full of love I need to hug someone now because I feel they need it! I need to tell them they are loved so that they dont feel their pain anymore!!!". Its more the kind of love that is accepting of everything, realizing that all is passing, both good and bad. I can watch the news and accept what I see, instead of doing all I can to pour my fantastic amazing Gods love on to the whole world believing I am doing the world a favour. I can meet my friends and accept their pain and help them deal with it, instead of trying to pour them full of my love so that their pain is lulled like a benzodiazepine. I can do that too, of course, there is nothing wrong with that. But to believe that loving in that way is the answer to all problems, that is a fantacy and a trap too many new-agers fall into. When ego feels loved it feels good. But that good feeling is not neccecarily what we need. Maby we need to get our ass up get a job istead. Maby we need to tell that stupid neighbour to fuck off because that might be an even better expression of love if it could help the neighbour to see what he really is doing to those around him. Maby we need to eat more healthy to heal ourself instead of sitting projecting our love on those who dont really need it. I used to spin my merkabah 33000 trillion times the speed of GODHIMSELF into unconditional eternal wonderful love and I burst it out to the whole city and all my friends and all the world. You can imagine the love I felt! It didnt help at all. People still had the same problems, issues, etc. But it helped me when I stopped projecting because then I realized that kind of love is not for me to control.

I wrote a little about how I feel about love in another thread. Ive spend so many years filling my heart with love, radiating love to everyone I met, lovelovelove all day long trying to understand the love of God. But after I realized God loves both the rapist and the raped, the killer and the killed, the grain of sand and the galaxies, I see that there is no need for me to push my love onto other people or things. There is more than enough as it is everywhere. And because it is more than enough everywhere, at all times, through all eons, and still people go through hardships, pain and death, I see that the love I give is so small and tiny it is like adding one single drop of water to the ocean, within the ocean. I dont feel the need to fill my heart with love anymore. Or to push my love onto those the I feel need it. Who am I to decide if it is my love they need? Maby what they really need to wake up is a good slap in the face or a kick in the butt? Ive seen so many people use love just to continue rambling in their old illusions.

Its amazing that you come here with a willingness to share and answer questions. Im also pretty amazed that you havent been flooded with questions allready... maby because you said you dont want to participate in the usual forum potato-couch But thanks a lot for your offer to answer questions. I have a few questions that I hope you would like to answer. There are many that blindly search for the Mo Pai methods after seeing the John Chang youtube-clip. But if John Chang dosent teach western students anymore, is there any use for anyone to pursue the mo pai methods? Even if you give us the methods for level one and two, can we get anywhere with them without a teacher? And if we cant get beyond level 2 without John Chang or an other Mo Pai teacher, do we gain anything from level 1 that we cant get from other meditations? And last, maby a little too personal question, are you still developing in the Mo Pai levels beyond level 3?

Welcome back man

Thats right. Im just revolting against religious concepts and emotional spirituality. It might be that Im in a little "dark night" at the moment cause I dont see any purpose to anything. I dont need love in my heart, and I dont need it in everybody elses heart either because there is more than enough around for averyone all the time. Everything is perfect just as it is and there is no need to do anything to get anywhere other than where you are. But Ive spent so many years doing all I can to get somewhere spiritually, only to discard illusion after illusion. I might still be totally off here. Thanks for your answer winpro.

I can see why that was banned from childrens tv... it might even freak out grownups... emptyness is like death for most people.

Ive been wondering about this religious misunderstanding a while. It is used in many religions to create a distance and a feeling of being not enough just where one is. I want to ask, not just you winpro, but as a general religions concept, who is missing us? If the answer God, the all-present, all-knowing, all-powerfull, creator of every little detail in all levels of existence, how can he miss us when he is in evey part of us allready? If the answer is the female formless awareness, how can she miss us when she allready is formless and therefore has no need to be anything else? I dont think anybody is missing us. It is a trick of the ego. We are creating a being, a God, that is sad and waiting for us, just to make us feel special, to make us feel loved, and make us feel good about our religion. We are projecting our own limitations and only see ourselves, not God. The thing is, once you fiind this being, once you join with the prescence that you missed, then you see that there was noone missing you in the first place because you where allready there. You where allready loved. Even if you dont know it or dont feel it. So to everybody who thinks we have to work to get back, where are you getting back to? If it is to a place that eventually will tell you that there is no where to go, why not just realize this right now and save yourself the stress of trying to be anything else?

Yea, you're right, its very relative. That actually gives more fuel to the point I wanted to make, entities are not "negative" if we see the bigger picture and take responsibility for our own spot in it. We are all part of the big game

The Kong Jing videos is freaking me out a little. They have no style!!! Have you tried these practices Adam West? Or has anybody else done it? If so, what do you think of it?
-
Ive read the two first chapters of the text. It was very good and packed full of information. A very nice tip for the meditation was "to avoid electric storms, earthquakes and floods when meditating". I will take that into consideration

Sounds very healthy!

Here are some who do darkness retreats: http://www.sacredtrust.org/shamanic_darkness_retreats.html But I fear it contains a lot of drumming and chanting and ugga bugga...

It seems there are many different definitions of what ROOTED is. Im with you on this one Taomeow. Rooted is a lot more that what visualizations, affirmation or other pratices can do for us. Its more a way of life, an integrated part of you that is visible in every aspect of your expression every second of the day. If you need to eat meat, visualize roots, do physical work, etc to root yourself, you are not really rooted. I would also take it as far as to say that if this is the case, then maby you are not yet ready to do the spiritual practice than unroots you. A few yeas ago I had to stop all qigong practicing because I totally flew away. Now Im a lot more rooted and can do high flying energywork without any problems and as much qigong I want. Even if my whole life falls apart and changes, I can still go to work as normal. Years ago I could hardly speak and saw angels, spirits and energies all over the place. But Ive spent a lot of years building my foundation and life.

Hey, thay would be great! wait... lock me up??? you make it sound a little scary too.... But if you look like that on your picture it would be a real fun! allthough not so dark....

Ron L. Hubbard had the same kind of imagination and he made a lot of money from his stories. You should go for it VCraigP!

Yea, I would very much like to know, thanks for your effort Ian!

Hehe, yes, but you're right, I MUST do it! Im certainly gona do it some time. But I would like to find other alternatives than Chias. To stumble upon people, hit people in the face, talk alot and stuff like that seems to make it hard to really get into the retreat. I would like to do a stillness retreat at the same time and just spend the whole days in meditation and silence. Is there any other darkness retreat alternatives around the world? Many years ago I saw an internet site in Norway doing darkness retreats with only 10 people at a time. That sounded very good, but I cant find the site now.
-
Thanks for sharing Rain! Ive dreamt of darkness retreat for many years. But it seems it would be better to do a silent retreat at the same time.

I might join you in twiddling. I had one experience a few days ago that shook me off and left me very emotional and excited. Later on I tried twiddeling a littlebit and sudddeny it was ok in just again, my energy centered and calmed just after a few minutes of twiddeling. it worked amazingly well.

Most EFFECTIVE form of Meditation?
sheng zhen replied to Wun Yuen Gong's topic in General Discussion
Yea...why is that? -
Thanks! Its what I thought. People make their own definitions and make it sound like it is only them that knows what to do with it. Thats the reason there are so many religions... and methods... But emphasizing the concept of rooting, as opposed to grounding, could be good for many people because the normal spiritual understanding of grounding is not enough. Spiritual people can boast about doing grounding practices, eating meat, doing physical work, bla bla bla, but still they dont get a millimeter more grounded. It just gives them an illusory feeling of being grounded, rooted, or whatever we call it. It just fits their allready ungrounded beliefsystem. In early Kabbalism they didnt allow people to study with them until their life was in complete balance, with a stable family life, carreer, etc. I think that is a very good policy. That is grounding, rooting. When you are strong enough to have a balanced life and still go through serious spiritual transformations.
-
But Vajrasattva, what do you mean by ROOTING as opposed to GROUNDING? You keep telling everybody how important it is that they root, and that grounding is not enough. So please, would you like to explain? I totally agree with you, it is not allways light and love out there. Truth hits hard as rock. It hurts when you are faced with truth. And if it dosent hurt, well then you are not in touch with truth! The human mind is notorious to make up illusions, about everything, its in our genes and permeates our whole existence. Truth sucks, but after a while we tend to come to the conclusion that illusions suck more But rooting, Varjasattva, could you explain what you mean?
