In the 60 Minutes program they say that Resveritrol switches on a gene that is also switched on when we are hungry. So fasting would probably bring about many of the same results. Though in this modern world Im sure most people are more than happy to get a pill that counteacts their bad lifestyle so they dont have to change anything

My friend said there is a big difference between trans- and sis-resveratrol. If I rember correctly it was the trans-resveratrol that was effective.

There are many "too good to be true" cure-all products out there. MSM, MMS, Oliveleaf extract, etc etc. Even vitamin D as mentioned in another thread here And all who market them say their product is revolutionary. I do not doubt Resveratrol at all, it most certainly is just as great as the other cure-all products. Im gona try it out too soon enough. But I dont think it is revolutonary in any sense. Im waiting for feedback from a friend who has just started using it one week ago and was almost high on anticipation.

Yes it is! The work Tom Meyers is doing is totally amazing. His book will probably soon be a part of all anatomy and bodywork educations throughout the world. -
Myofascial Tensegrity and Zhan Zhuang
sheng zhen replied to sheng zhen's topic in General Discussion
Oh but please dont disagree silently... dont forget we are at taobums! Where did Fuller steal his ideas? I dont see Castanedas exercises any more relevant to tensegrity than any other exercises just because he named it Tensegrity. Tensegrity means a balance between all tension forces. In youtube videos of Castanedas tensegrity there is a lot of tension and breathing, and maybe there is a balance. I dont know. But that it has anything more to do with the actual BIOtensegrity than any other exercises(Yoga, qigong, Zhan Zhuang, aerobics, whatever) not true. So I said "NOT Castanedas" to try to crush this misunderstanding before it appeared. -

Nutrient density is the key to good health
sheng zhen replied to Smile's topic in General Discussion
Yes, I see that. Im not dissing(like these guys do: ) was just surprised to see someone with this wonderful workload behind his presentation include these strange points. Where did the 0,5 number in Cola come from? What nutrients are in Cola??? Sugar and water is not considered a nutrient, right? -
Nutrient density is the key to good health
sheng zhen replied to Smile's topic in General Discussion
Had some computerproblems so I couldnt see the whole clip. But what I got to see was very interesting. I was very surprised to see olive oil be all the way down the list next to cola! This makes me not quite trust his research... He must have been very selctive in what olive oil brands he included. I was also very surprised to see that Cola actually got a number higher than 0... Also, I would very much like to see superfoods like Spirulina and Kamut grass compared to his list! In norway we have a general government guideline for people to eat at least 2 portions of fruit and 5 portions of vegetables a day. I just calculated the nutrient ingredients of one teaspoon Purely Greens(from Pure Planet) and realized this was enough to get all the nutritients from the governments guidlines. ONE teaspoon... -

Tucking the Tailbone in Taiji & Zhan Zhuang
sheng zhen replied to DaoChild's topic in General Discussion
There are special kind of muscles involved in posture. Postural muscles. Which are slow twitch muscles that are evolutionary made to withstand long hours of work. They are made to be tense(sort of) all the time. And they dont give us the same sensation of painful and energydraining tension as the more superficial fast-twitch muscles. When we use the postural muscles correctly it will actually feel as if we dont use muscles at all to stand upright. This is the feeling of Song. Like the body is gone. So one secret to Zhan Zhuang is to connect to these slow-twitch postural muscles, and relax all the rest. The psoas and deep spinal muscles are especially important for hip. The psoas is a spine/hip stabilizator so this one is the real treat to experience deep relaxation in ZZ. When the psoas is used correctly, the whole rest of the spine can pretty much align on top naturally. There are two part of the psoas. The top and the bottom. The posas is actually the only muscle that can counteract itself. So when we find the right balance between the upper and the lower psoas-part, we have a stable and corrected spine. Usually for people it is the upper psoas that needs more attention. This is the one that tucks in the hip correctly. As opposed to using the gluteus, rectus abdominis and rectus femoris. The psoas is the secret key! Fun thing, that I just noticed, the psoas connect the Ming Men part of the spine, goes pretty much through Dan Tien, and connects to the hips... -
Tucking the Tailbone in Taiji & Zhan Zhuang
sheng zhen replied to DaoChild's topic in General Discussion
In my own practice I feel it is better to relax the hips and let the tailbone just sink downwards than to tuck in the tailbone. If I tuck I use muscles and that is opposite of the relaxation I want. But when I relax and sink, the whole lumbar spine lengthens and straightens naturally. -
Integral Taoism. Heaven / The I Dimension

Very interesting thoughts about Kan and Li. Thank you -
Tien Shan Qi Gung is a correspondance course from the 80's or 70's that is available as torrent now. Its a long time since I read it but I think it is a 3 year program where you get new excercise every month. Mainly teaching techniques to control the breath. I think it was Adam West that gave us the link some time ago. I dont know much more about it.

Just want to add this to conclude my Kan and Li thread.

Integral Taoism. Heaven / The I Dimension
sheng zhen replied to shenchi's topic in General Discussion
Very nice article Shenchi! There is one thing I'd like to point out regarding our personal evolution through these levels. We can experience every different state through meditation and inner work, but to actually stabilize in one of the higher states is extremely difficult. Ken Wilber have said that people hardly really stabilize in more than one or at most two levels higher than what they are born into. Most people need hundreds of lifetimes just to evolve to the next level. So when doing meditation and exepriencing these wonderful states of consciousness, we are easily fooled to believe we have attained something high level. While in reality it is just a limited experience and we will soon enough fade back to our stabilized level. I do believe the age old jing-qi-shen framework is Integral allready long before Ken Wilber presented his thoughts Creation. In the way I have learned to work with these bodies we see every body with the same anatomy. Its a fractal system where everything is contained in everthing. Like a hologram. Every little piece contains the whole. So no matter how subtle it gets, you still have the chakras, auras, channels, meridians, levels, etc. -

Thanks Exorcist! I knew there was something more to Kan and Li than just visualizing fire and water together in the stomach This was the level of Kan and Li I have been searching for in taoism for over a year now. Now Im at peace Thank you so much! The only thing left now is the actual work of doing it...
