i recently went to a seminar with a wonderful qigong teacher name liu he, from the ling gui healing qigong school out in oregon. their lineage teaches a form called sleeping buddha qigong http://www.linggui.o...iu-dongs-method sounds really wonderful and exactly what you are looking for. i know there are teachers certified to teach this form all across the US, but i don't know about germany. its worth doing a search online. i also found this when i was searching for sleep qigong http://www.qigongchinesehealth.com/sleeping_qigong i don't know anything about this teacher, it just seemed interesting, thought i would pass on the link. as for darkness in your room, yes get cardboard, or really thick fabric and cover up your windows completely. i know it sounds like a lot of work, but its really not that complicated. i bought thick black fabric that i doubled up and then nailed over my windows, over my blinds. it works really well. if you have light coming in from under your bedroom door or anything like that, either stuff the bottom of the door to block the light, or turn off lights in the rest of the house.

there are a lot of incredible teachers in the US, you do not need to go to china in a remote mountain for this. saltydeath, you just need to keep looking, there are so many teachers out there really. it all depends on what you want, what kind of teaching are you looking for, what is your goal. the internet makes it so easy to find people nowadays. best of luck!

qigong would definitely help. there are many qigong forms out there specifically for sleep/insomnia, though i think most of them you would need to learn directly from a teacher. i have one other recommendation. make your bedroom completely dark. do this by completely covering your bedroom windows from any outside light. remove any light sources in your room, such as alarm clocks, cell phones, etc. you ideally want your room to be pitch black, to the point where you cannot see your hands when you hold them up in front of you. why? because your body requires a certain amount of melatonin in order to regulate your circadian rhythm properly. your pineal gland depends on darkness to send out signals for melatonin production. if your pineal gland (yes, your third eye, it has been scientifically proven to react to light) is exposed to light, it can affect melatonin production. this can also affect health negatively in a number of other ways, but thats a whole other discussion. long story short, if you are doing other things to work on curing your insomnia, this will be helpful too. i know it sounds like a lot of work, but its really worth it. it can also be helpful to try to reduce your exposure to artificial light after 9pm. either use fewer lights, or use candlelight in the hours leading up to your bedtime. this allows your body to receive the signal that it will be time for you to fall asleep soon. melatonin production should normally slowly start around 9pm, but this is often not the case for city folk who are exposed to light 24/7.

mullein is probably one of the best herbs for this, read up about it, see what you think. it would be beneficial in tea or tincture form, but could also be vaporized. mullein is often smoked in traditional native american ceremonies and rituals, and used as medicine as well. mullein can be beneficial when smoked too. but depending on what kind of lung damage you have, taking it in other forms may be better. from my personal experience, and from what i have read, it seems that vaporizing can sometimes be harsher on the lungs than smoking. but thats up to you. either way you should read up on mullein. my teacher says that mullein contains the lungs original imprint, that it helps the lungs return to their natural healthy state. sounds like thats what you need. hope that helps!

we have played around with magnetizing water, vortexing it to increase ormus, etc. but i think ultimately nature knows best. you don't need to do anything with your water if you drink real spring water, collected at the source in glass bottles. not a seapage spring, a real natural spring coming up from deep in the earth, at about 45 degrees. this water will naturally be vortexed and contain ormus. not all springs are the same, some are high in minerals, others are pure like crystal. see if you can find a spring near you: www.findaspring.com i guarantee that the extra trouble of collecting water yourself is well worth it. the difference is unmistakable.

Level of Chi/Relaxation and the tone of the voice
immortal_sister replied to hajimesaito's topic in General Discussion
last year, an acupuncturist friend of mine called our house and got the answering machine, with my voice on the recording. he hadn't seen me or treated me in over a year. he left a message and at the end said, "oh and by the way, whoever recorded that message is kidney yin deficient". i was surprised, as i didn't think of myself as kidney yin deficient. sure enough, when he came over and treated me, my pulses confirmed it. i couldn't believe he knew right away from me saying a single sentence on my answering machine! -

yes do in hung gar and a few other systems. not unlike using healing sounds. -
like agharta said, ormus is everywhere, its just not usually visible. if you drink real spring water, collected yourself from a natural spring that comes from deep in the earth (not a seepage spring), you will get all the ormus you could want

ovarian breathing can technically be used toward the purpose of stopping menstruation, as do many other techniques. used alone, i don't think it will by default have the action of stopping menstruation, but perhaps as part of other practices... the point is not to trick your body, but to redirect the energies inside your body so as to not "waste" so much energy toward the production and maturation of eggs for ovulation to occur every month. the same way a man may practice semen retention in order to reduce the amount of energy loss in ejaculation (both practices aim to retain jing in order to use it to transmute into shen). now, with both practices, it can have negative side effects if not done properly... i am only assuming menstruation reduction can do that, i have never spoken to anyone directly who has practiced that, but from what i know of female fertility, it is a given. that is why there are many precise techniques to go along with such practices in order to properly redirect this new energy, that was previously used for the reproductive cycle. many hormonal imbalance can cause menstruation/ovulation to stop, or be greatly reduced, and this is not something to aim for, as it can cause long term health problems. its all about how it is done. and i imagine this balance is very fine when it comes to women, and is probably why this is not a practice that is taught widely or that you can just learn from a book.

All right, you don't believe in astrology...
immortal_sister replied to Taomeow's topic in General Discussion
wonderful post, thank you for writing it! there is so much more that influences us than most people realize. astrology has a really bad name, sure... but it doesn't discredit the very real effect our universe has on us. blessings! -
thank you for the information. i am familiar with the female deer exercises. those have always been said to increase fertility though (as is also stated on the page you linked to), not cause infertility / stop menstruation. i practice a variation of that regularly, and love sitting in siddhasana. would the deer exercises help release enough oxytocin in of itself to stop the hormonal feedback loop? hmm seems like the amount of practice needed to allow this exercise alone to trick the body into thinking it is pregnant would be huge. i can only assume the herbs often taken by women who practice "slaying the red dragon" must play a significant role in this too. i have personally experienced the early stages of beginning to reverse that hormonal process via herbs alone; it was an accidental discovery, but it was highly effective. either way, at this point in my life that is not a practice i am interested in - i am trying to enhance my fertility, not diminish it but thank you for the links, i would certainly consider learning this and even going to china to learn someday! let me know if you ever plan a trip, i'm in!

zOOSe, i have heard of such things, fascinating isn't it? i wonder what that means in terms of energetics!!... jK, yes buddhist nuns and taoists too know practices to stop menstruation. it appears to be a fairly well guarded secret, i have been trying to learn about it, but information is not easy to come by. it seems that a combination of qigong practices and certain herbs help attain this state. i have pondered what that meant on a physical level, what fluctuations on the hormonal level occur for this to take place in a "healthy" way (as lack of menstruation could be a very unhealthy state).

i have felt like a different person for the last week. i think this full moon is really affecting me (in combination with a really potent acupuncture treatment a week ago too). my menstrual cycle has decided to change completely, and my emotions are all over the place. meditation has been difficult, but i have managed to do some full moon meditations the last few nights.

one day...
-
yes yes, the first day of the menstruation is day 1 of the cycle. i'm sorry i didn't read your post properly, i thought you meant she was ovulating on the full moon, not starting her period on the full moon. so you are saying she is now starting a few days earlier than before, right? got it. ok, i have several thoughts about this. many things in this short post are wrong, actually. not all women menstruate or ovulate around the same time as each other. and it is not uncommon for cycles to vary slightly from one month to another, have a few more days one time, a few days less the next. this is not inherently a bad thing or a health concern. it can be, but many things can cause a cycle's length to chance, stress, diet, travel, etc. the idea of the perfect, never changing 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14 is far more rare than most people realize. i have no idea where the statement that a woman peaks 7 days after the full moon comes from, but it makes no sense at all yes, by default, if a woman is very regular, she will most likely ovulate/menstruate around the same phase of the moon every month, simply because our cycle is about the same length as the cycle of the moon. however, most modern people are affected by far too many environmental factors to actually feel the influence of the moon on their menstrual cycles. in a completely "natural" setting, where a woman is never exposed to artificial light, women actually ovulate on the full moon and menstruate on the new moon / dark moon. the reason for this is that unlike most other mammals who are solar ovulators (meaning, they become fertile according to the length of days), we are lunar ovulators. we are actually affected by exposure to light during our sleep, not daytime; our pineal gland responds to light while we sleep and produces hormones accordingly, starting with melatonin (people who suffer from insomnia should consider sleeping in complete darkness to increase healthy melatonin production, for example) and down the line to all our major sexual hormones. and in a natural setting, the only time night lighting would occur would be around the full moon. so, as the moon waxes, a woman's fertility would increase and would peak at or around the full moon. the statement above about a woman's fertility being highest after the full moon is incorrect. none of this means that light exposure is necessary for ovulation, or that a woman is by default fertile around the full moon. but it does mean that we are / can be sensitive to these things, that is how we are built, but this knowledge is mostly lost in our culture. sorry for the long post, i warned you this was one of my obsessions like the previous poster wrote, shift work, bad diet and stress are a far bigger concern than a varying cycle length. and could possibly be the cause of any cycle changes that are occurring. having a "late period", or early period for that matter, is not a cause for concern, unless there are other things going on, or unless the cycle length is extreme (really short cycles all the time, or 50+ day cycles, etc). i would disregard the statement about the declining health and the later periods. in fact, most women approaching menopause have shorter cycles, not longer.

Best book for learning TCM?
immortal_sister replied to JustARandomPanda's topic in General Discussion
the web that has no weaver is a good place to start learning the principles of TCM. that would be my first recommendation. "the taoist i ching" translated by thomas cleary is excellent, i reference it almost daily and use it in combination with another version of the i ching when doing divination. i would also recommend "the tao of the i ching, way to divination" by jou tsung wa. more in depth, in my opinion, but also not the first book i would recommend for someone who isn't familiar with the i ching. -
this is something i have studied quite a bit in the last year and experimented with myself. but you ask many questions in your post and i could go a thousand directions and write for hours frankly, because this is one of my favorite topics if you ask a few specific questions i will gladly share what i know and have experienced! blessings.. ps. funny that you mention knowing someone that was ovulating on the full moon for several months but now started their cycle (their menstruation) a few days ago. this just happened to me too!

The Tao/Way/Power/Magic of Women
immortal_sister replied to Trixter Streetcat's topic in General Discussion
yup, i feel the same way, like it would be a cheap replacement of the real deal. plus, the energy put into porn movies and the like is almost always very negative. i also want to add that the focus being on a man ejaculating is not the right thing, personally, for me to be focusing on. reminds me of the white tigress book i just finished. too left hand path for me, shortcuts, without the real deal. i know not everyone is able to have a great partner to do dual cultivation with, but i do, so i'll stick with that -
harvesting wild food i think is essential for someone who wants to be truly vegan and healthy that way. it it such a lost art though, its unfortunate. we try to teach people in our area about edible wild foods and wild medicine as much as possible. i eat a lot of wild food, and my diet is probably 98% organic i talked about it in my first post. i pick a lot of wild food, things no on else in this region eat or even know you can eat haha. i also eat small amounts of wild fish or wild animals, depending on what i feel my need is. i eat a fair amount of raw food in the summer, less in winter. it just makes more sense in this climate. i also eat eggs from a friend's chickens once in a while.

i think paul's post was fair and balanced. i think it is important to emphasize the point he made about how someone needs to be truly grounded for the vegan diet to work really well (for most people). most people are far form grounded to begin with, some grounding foods like animal proteins help them stay somewhat grounded. i know that living in a major city as a vegan i felt totally ungrounded, and then switching to living in the country made a huge difference for me. my energetics were different and i felt a completely different connection to my environment, my food, etc etc. because of this, i think i processed the food i ate differently as well. yet for me, i don't think it was sufficient for me to feel as healthy as i could eating a purely vegan diet. which is why i have been modifying my diet for the last two years. it is still a work in progress, but the basis i always at least 90% vegan.

smiling energy is definitely good i wanted to add a note to my last post. i was thinking about it after i wrote that, and if you are not used to working with sexual energy, then i wouldn't advise using this to rid excess energy in any area, it could make it worse. i don't know what your experience with circulating the orbit or anything like that is. my experience has been that running my orbit when aroused is easier and more powerful. but for someone who doesn't work with sexual energy trying to control energy in an aroused state can actually be more difficult. anyhow, the simplest answer is often best. breathing down to the abdomen, smiling, relaxing, there you go
-
this happened to me a few weeks ago after an intense session of meditation, yoga, and reverse breathing. too much concentrating on the chest. i couldn't get rid of it for two days, had uncomfortable pressure in my ribs. personally, what helped was to raise sexual energy, and then breath it down to my dantien. deep breaths, with the tongue to the roof of the mouth, swallow the breath down into the abdomen. i did this during dual cultivation, but it could be done alone as well. the reason i think sexual energy made it easier for me to move this excess energy was because my orbit runs more easily when aroused, and that energy is sometimes easier to "sense" and redirect.
