  7. Anti Aging - The China Study

i was completely vegan for 7 years so i understand perfectly how you feel. i have no reason to be offensive or disrespectful of other people's choices, especially vegans. of course healthy veganism is not impossible. but it is very difficult for certain types of people (certain ages, certain body types, for example) and for people living in certain climates. veganism can without a doubt make someone imbalanced and unhealthy, but it doesn't mean that it always will. that's the bottom line. this is the only reason i even wrote anything in this thread to begin with, because too many vegans seem have it in their mind that veganism is infallible, which it is not. that's all i'm done!
  8. Anti Aging - The China Study

no, i do not know what the optimal diet for every human being is, nor was i implying that humans "need" meat. again, you are putting words in my mouth. for some, veganism may be optimal, for others a meat-based diet may be preferable (speaking only from a health perspective). this is what i have said from the beginning. i am and will always be vegan or mostly vegan. right now i am maybe 90% vegan, and feel very healthy this way. i know that as things change in my life, i will probably go back to complete veganism. that's just me listening to my own body. i am not pushing these beliefs on anyone, just sharing my experience and trying to include some words of caution to those who may think that there are no potential shortcomings to the vegan diet.
  9. Anti Aging - The China Study

i am far less concerned with what is "ancient" than with what is natural and optimal for a human being. period. some people can be vegan their entire life and be in perfect health. some people can eat mcdonalds their whole life and live to be 90. does that mean it is the best diet that they could have possibly eaten? i do think it matters where the nutrients come from. vitamins that come from a pill or from enriched foods are not the same as those we absorb when eating fresh whole foods. my main point in this this thread has been that to get all the nutrients that one truly needs from a vegan diet is not always as simple as some people make it sound, especially in more northern climates. for example, if you have to rely on pills & supplements to get all your essential nutrients then your diet is lacking. you are putting words in my mouth. environmental issues have nothing to do with "human incapabilities". the weather we live in and the latitude at which we live affects our health, that's just a reality. diet should be simple, accessible, local, fresh, and whole. that's my personal belief.
  10. Anti Aging - The China Study

assuming that veganism is the optimal diet ethically & spiritually is entirely subjective. that's a whole debate onto itself. if we keep placing technology between us and our health and the food that we eat, and relying on it more every day, our society is simply going to continue on this downward spiral of destroying the planet and us, as human beings, are going to be more disconnected from our roots and from our true nature. is this what we want our future to be like?
  11. Anti Aging - The China Study

paul, if you read my response i tried to be more descriptive in explaining what my diet was like as a vegan. i ate much better than most vegans i knew, ate very little processed foods, mostly organic, whole foods, etc. it wasn't perfect, for sure. but better than most vegans i knew. at this point, with the many years i was vegan and experimented with variations, it is more than just an unfounded opinion, i have experienced the ups and downs of the vegan diet and can speak about it with knowledge. my opinions are based on direct experience only, not on ethical or environmental issues. that's a whole other thread. when speaking about veganism as it relates to health and nutrition only, i firmly believe now that it is not an appropriate diet for almost anyone to have on a permanent basis, especially for those who never eat wild foods, and especially for those who live in places where there are winters. paul, how long have you been vegan? how old are you? and what climate do you live in?
  12. Kundalini

question for shaktimama.. when you say kundalini awaking.. are you referring to the kundalini potential being awoken, i.e. the lower chakra being full and bubbly, so to speak, and feeling some warmth beginning to rise? or are you referring to the kundalini energy having fully risen up to the crown chakra, to that column being fully open? it was my understanding that these two things are not the same, and that furthermore, people who have had a full kundalini rise are few and far between. it seems that these two things are getting mixed into one in several conversations on this forum. you said in another thread, i believe, that kundalini awakening is not rare, it happens to people somewhat regularly, people have an accident, a woman gives birth, or another physical event causes this energy to bubble. this does not mean that this person has actually fully "awakened" their kundalini potential and that their chakras are open, etc etc. i would like for you to expand on this please.
  13. What is your perfect training shoe?

the easy answer is to get some traditional black taichi shoes with the cotton bottom. those are pretty nice, but don't last long outdoors http://www.aquariandreams.com/productcart/...mp;idproduct=31 i would love to hear if anyone has other suggestions. i looked and looked last year and couldn't find anything. i found sandals that were entirely made of hemp, including the soles, but they were all out of stock. can't remember the name. there must be shoes made entirely of hemp somewhere? no rubber or synthetic crap?..
  14. The Tao/Way/Power/Magic of Women

i hope you will consider what i wrote about lower estrogen / menopause and how it is a form of kundalini awakening. feel free to PM me if you want more information. anyhow, it doesn't matter if you are 80, it is never too late to experience an orgasm for the first time, whether alone or with some handy help also, i did want to mention that i have not awakened my kundalini and have not specifically attempted to do so. i don't really want to do it for many years still, until i feel i have a solid enough foundation for this potent energy to sit on and eventually be unleashed. as it stands, although i practice yoga a lot, i work with the microcosmic orbit more than the chakras when it comes to inner work. i feel my chakras awaken often, because of different experiences, especially sexual experiences. i feel my heart bloom often, and it is amazing. but when i do actual focused practices i focus on the microcosmic orbit, not on the kundalini energy per say. in my humble opinion, there is a bit too much obsession on this forum with kundalini awakening and doing that alone as a practice.
  15. Haiku Chain

  16. Anti Aging - The China Study

i could go on, and on and on about veganism i will try to keep it short, i promise.. i was completely vegan for 7+ years. i ate pretty well for a vegan, mostly organic, very varied diet, lots of soy though. felt amazing the first 2 years, felt ok for another year or two, then there was a definite slow decline in certain aspects of my health and it took me several years to really understand how much it was linked to my diet. in my case, some of these things that i now directly link to my veganism are problems with my reproductive cycles (nothing major was wrong, just imbalanced hormones, probably very much exhacerbated by taking birth control while being vegan), low endurance, low sex drive, overall feeling like i had low energy. definite kidney deficiency, and underactive/taxed adrenals. i think unknowingly this is why a lot of people join the vegan bandwagon for a few years and then totally drop off and give up on caring about their diets at all, assuming that if the vegan diet didn't work, they didn't feel good, then why should they care at all? a lot of people idealize the concept of veganism, but i firmly believe now that veganism is simply not optimal for most humans on this planet. personally, i have now included wild meat and wild fish to my diet, not regularly, sometimes once a week, sometimes only once a month. i listen to my body about when i need animal proteins and fats. i eat raw, organic cheese several times a week and organic butter or ghee. i recently started cod liver oil supplements as well. i have felt a huge difference from these good sources of fats and proteins, most vegans don't get good fat at all in their diets and this is a big problem that is often overlooked. most vegans are also imbalanced enough that no matter how many supplements they take their body/digestion is not able to fully process all these vitamins and minerals. a good example is vitamin D, which one can get usually readily get from the sun and animal fats. but in northern climates it is harder to get, especially in winter. you can take vegan vitamin D supplements, or assume that you are getting enough from vegetables, but the reality is that most likely your body is not actually transforming and absorbing those vitamins properly. i don't have time to look up and link articles or studies. i think there is good information on this website http://www.beyondveg.com although i don't agree with everything that they have to say. i live in the north too (are you from montreal steam?), and i do not believe that anyone living in this climate should be vegan, at least not year round. i try to follow a diet that is in balance with my climate and my environment, that flows with the changing needs of my body according to the seasons, which are so very different from one another. i also strive to have a diet that is as wild as possible, where i rely on refined foods as little as possible. i think local wild food (be it wild plants and roots, or wild game, wild fish) is the best food one can eat. the only other thing i want to add is about soy. i did not read the whole thing about the china study. however, my understanding is that most asians who eat a lot of soy usually combine it in meals with meat, which automatically makes it more balanced. they also eat high amounts of soy from a very early age, and come from parents who ate fairly high soy diets, so their genes are naturally a bit more adapted. here most of us who are 25+ did not grow up on diets high in soy, this is a fairly new development in the west, so our bodies are not as adapted. i know that for me, i went from never having barely eaten any soy, to drinking gallons of soy milk and eating tofu almost every day. the vegan diet is cleansing as it is, and cooling, all the soy makes it even more so. most importantly though, asians usually eat fermented soy, which is a completely different story than eating fake sausage and drinking soy milk. fermented soy, such as tempeh and miso, is far more balanced, it is not as cooling and yin, and has a lesser effect on the body from its phytoestrogens.
  17. The Moscow dragon

my first guess was the woman on the far right, sitting on the floor. my eyes were drawn to her as soon as i opened the picture. after reading your post about the man that gave you rides, and after reading other people's guesses, i still think it is her. but, if not... my close second guess is the third person from the left, the shorter woman, on the top row. we should start a "find the tao bum" thread haha this is a fun game. i do hope you give us the answer!! and its making me wonder what other bums would think i look like.. hmm...
  18. The Tao/Way/Power/Magic of Women

i will definitely consider purchasing the book in the future. i am also considering purchasing a gyneflex. although i already exercise those muscles with jade eggs, that device would probably a whole different story. thank you for the link to that thread. well, although i do take fish oil (i take cod liver oil right now), i haden't realized the amounts of EPA and DHA you recommend are so much higher than what i am currently getting. i still feel i am getting benefits from the dose i am at right now. i also already take calcium/magnesium. i am not willing to pump myself full of really high amounts of supplements much beyond what i am already taking. so i will have to pass on this experiment for now. i have been working hard at increasing my health naturally through gentle supplements, acupuncture and inner work, and this kind of "extreme diet" simply isn't for me right now. also, about the porn. it isn't that it is outside the boundaries of our relationship, we have watched some together before and it is very exciting. but neither of us is a huge fan of porn, ethically or otherwise. i simply have no interest in including that in my/our life, i don't believe it to be beneficial in the long run and i view it as a crutch when trying to enhance one's sexual abilities when one's goal is spiritual dual cultivation. that's just my personal belief.
  19. The Tao/Way/Power/Magic of Women

soundhunter, wonderful post, thank you for sharing. i am in my late 20s, so i know i haven't reached my peak yet, i think that is what you are experiencing, and is probably part of the reason that witch has been able to achieve what she has as well. i think various stages of a woman's life will have different strengths and magical powers. i am trying to embrace and utilize what i am today to its maximum potential. its so beautiful hearing about how deeply transformational and spiritual pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding is. i really look forward to experiencing that one day. so yeah, this so called fierce sexual power, perhaps i have no idea about any of it since i am still young and haven't reached my peak. i only know what is true to me now. i can't wait to get there though witch, as for your proposition, my husband says i should try it of course, haha! like i said, i have been started on some of the supplements for the last month. you might have to break down the diet for me again; i just bought tons of books in the last few months and need to read the books i have before buying more i understand what you are saying about watching porn awakening your root chakra, but i have no interest whatsoever in watching porn, even for that purpose. i am in a committed relationship and am wondering if there is something else i can do that would equally awaken this sensation.
  20. The Tao/Way/Power/Magic of Women

well, i disagree with witch. furthermore, my teacher says that menopause is a kundalini awakening, and can absolutely be experienced as such if you are aware enough to view it in that light, instead of the western medicine view which treats it like a disease and gives women estrogen, even though the lowering estrogen has a very important purpose in the female body. she compares a lot of the symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, mood swings, insomnia, to the experience of kundalini awakening. i think this is fascinating. worth giving some thought to for sure...
  21. The Tao/Way/Power/Magic of Women

yes, those foods are yin in nature i guess, and i consume a lot of them. but in your thread you told people to eat red meat and drink beer. very yang. that is mostly what i was referring to, not the diet from your book per say. on a lower level, some men might do that. the practitioners i know would never do that to arouse yang energy. since women and men are completely different creatures to begin with, i would tend to think that arousing the yang energy would not come from the same place for both, that men have a much more outward focus, while women are more internal. personally, i get absolutely nothing from staring at naked pictures of men or watching big cocks in porn. useless. doesn't arouse a thing. well like i said, it is not my place to issue a warning anyhow, which is why i wanted to discuss this stuff with you "to the side" so to speak, not in your thread. and yes, men love it because they are hornballs haha but i disagree with you about your statement of a "perfect world". there is a reason men and women have those very opposite tendencies, and it is because men and women's sexual energies are very different, and very complimentary. they should not be reversed, and i don't think attempting to have a male-like sexuality is something to strive for. having a high libido and being omniorgasmic, sure! but that's different than being driven to watch porn. either way, porn and romance novels are both pacifiers and i would encourage anyone to stay away from them if they want to achieve higher spiritual bliss. ok i get what you are saying. interesting. i read big parts of your book for free online a while ago (sorry ). i realized that most of the diet stuff you recommend i am already doing! i'll have to get all the juicy details though. i am not against having a healthy, increased libido. i have definitely seen an increase in my sexual energy since taking fish oil! good stuff
  22. The Tao/Way/Power/Magic of Women

i have been really hesitant to post in your kundalini thread because i don't want to say anything that is outside of my personal realm of knowledge and experience, and because i don't want to be come off as mean. but i do want to say this. if your brain is so different than others, you acknowledge this through your own experience of reversing your usual brain function to that which you consider to be the more average female brain waves and such... why would you advise other women to take your path? yes, it is left hand path, but furthermore i still can't get past feeling like everything you are advising women to do is purely "manly" and super yang in nature instead of working with the feminine nature and more natural inclination of women. perhaps that is what differentiates the usual taoist alchemical inner work with left path work such as this? i don't know. part of me feels like i need to write some kind of "warning notice" in your thread, but that is not my place. and i am getting off topic. i did have one question for you though. you seem to usually equate the kundalini awakening with opening the heart. if one has a true kundalini awakening, then i imagine the heart chakra and all other chakras would be wide open. but it seems that what you have done (and are advising women to do with the meat and the porn) is bypassing all chakras and opening the kundalini head on, with no preliminaries, so to speak. i keep thinking that the heart would not by default be open in this situation. what is your thought on this matter? kundalini = open heart?
  23. The Tao/Way/Power/Magic of Women

to be clear, i am not dismissing your experience as lesser or anything like that. every woman's point of view and experience is valid and should be shared. i completely understand that pregnancy changed the magic inside of view. i just wanted to share with others that i personally feel that pregnancy is not necessary for this process, all women, with or without child, have access to this, it is always present, just easier to access at certain times in our life. also, i agree strong energy is strong energy. however, the techniques you use to attain this strong energy are all very, very yang (from reading your other thread, eating a very yang diet, having a male-type sexuality that is very focused on porn and on the orgasm alone, etc etc). this is not to say the energy you build up isn't deeply feminine, but the way you have explained how this makes you feel always seems to have a male slant to it, and i think this is in part due to who you are as a person and your own personal preferences, obviously, but also due to the process that you use, that puts you in a more yang and male-like mindframe. that was my observation/impression, be it correct or wrong. feel free to correct me. absolutely i have experienced this as well. when you are able to relax everything in your body, only gently guiding the aroused sexual energy upward, there will be a great rush and you will experience a completely different type of orgasm, "beyond the orgasm". this is a much higher form of sexual energy in my experience, much more beneficial to the health and to the spirit. there are different practices one can do before and during orgasm, where you push the energy up the spine with more force, so-to-speak. but if through relaxation you are able to let the warm energy rise by itself, it is absolutely incredible i hope you don't mind me asking, did you experience this during orgasm, or just during the whole exchange? and if it was during orgasm, what type of orgasm was it?
  24. jade woman qigong

i ordered this book recently, should be getting it in the mail any day now: Jade Woman QiGong - The Healing Power of Taoist Medicine for Every Woman i was wondering if anyone had read it, or better yet, if anyone had studied at the Ling Gui School of Qigong? any thoughts? and if anyone has other books or teachers to recommend that have programs or practices that are women-specific, be it qigong, neigong or taoist alchemy, do let me know. there is a lot of talk on these forums about the benefits of finding a teacher, a master, and i would love to one day become someone's student. that path is still kind of blurry to me..
  25. jade woman qigong

my husband just got done reading opening the dragon gate, i am about to start it. in one of the last chapters, the author does say that wang liping just finished writing a book on women's practices (opening the dragon gate was written in 1996 i believe) but says that it has not yet been published. so the book has already been written, it is just not printed apparently. i would love, love, love to read this book. better yet, i would love to one day have an opportunity to study with master wang liping someday... a girl can dream..
