umm, is that a lure in the water? hashing it out can be informative, lets just remember that we are not the historic figures we are quoting and very few of us have permission from a lineage to teach for them in public or privately. thus an imo or an in my understanding preface and attitude will or should nip a lot of unfortunate arguments in the bud. -

mixing up Buddhist and Hindu concepts just adds to the confusion, and speaking as if one were a lineage holder Satguru or the historic Buddha is mucking things up even more!!! -

is MH a personification, like trillions of other beings, of a partial degree and variation of Dao... -
another tip: if you see a tool that you can not live without wait at least three days before you buy it... (unless it is on sale )
-
the only problem with hiding your tools in a safe place where no one can see and then ask to borrow them (and who also forget to return them), is that you forget where that safe place is and have to search every inch of the house or shed to find them again...

I didn't say that, and I far as I know the widely accepted definition of Hinduism includes belief in Lord Ganesha and other gods and devas, importance of Guru, the Vedas, several other major aspects like reincarnation, dharma, and karma which are recognized across most all schools or sects, along with some commonly accepted spiritual/cultural practices that may not all be written in religious stone but have been in effect for a long time. (like certain marriage traditions, vegetarianism, alms for the poor or Sahdus , festivals, temples, etc..) Of course I'm only speaking as an outsider looking in through my small window. -

I'd say there are many general and important meanings, besides just concepts and symbolism - also the feelings and meanings are not the same for all individuals or everyone. (and should not be attempted to be made so) -

ah, I remember a rock fight that started out with an agreement among all of us neighborhood boys that per team and as individuals we would only throw semi-hardened dirt clods, thus only be able to cause slight pain to one another but still have the thrill of the fight.. (located in a small nearby canyon) well it wasn't long until the dirt clods had bits of rock in them either unintentionally or intentionally, thus the agreement soon changed into throwing only small rocks that still wouldn't cause much harm... (lol and you probably know where this headed) but in the heat of the battle bigger rocks started being thrown and getting in a hit without taking one yourself was what it was all about. I was doing well and more or less sticking to the small rock agreement when out of nowhere a large rock with lots of speed behind it hit me right in the solar plexus, it hurt like hell and knocked me to the ground. The other boys didn't take much notice of me and when I looked up I saw the one who threw the rock with a triumphant grin on his face... after that I never got into a dirt clod or rock fight again. (knowing it could have been far worse if I or someone else got hit in an eye) -

speaking of schools, some of us may have been part of or in a school for and 'x' amount of time and reached an 'x' level... but if we left or were ejected from that school then it does not compute that we can represent them in particular, for at that point we are on our own making our own summations. (as in whatever variation or quasi type of mix we have arrived at, which I'd say is ok as long that is recognized by ourselves or others during discussions about schools) -

we can carefully demonstrate the use of axes now and then, but to continue grinding on them harder and harder is a foolish demonstration. -

As far as I know Dwai has mentioned being part of and a student of certain schools, and we are fortunate to have someone like him from a school or schools (along with his growing up in Indian Hindu culture) sharing information related to same, regardless if it is not of our school or our wana-be school... Btw, if any of us happen to quote texts that are co-opted from a school or schools that does not mean we are part of or given permission by that school as a devotee to represent them - and that is a big difference as everyone should understand! Granted some sharing and bouncing around on an introductory level when we have had some introduction to what we are talking about can be given and taken with a grain of salt... (minor edit) -

hey Karen, your following of recent interactions is one thing but I think Dwai may be or is probably feeling several years+ of problematic interactions...A pm would have worked here - imo... (in the Hindu related sub-forum) -

well, and why not add fully developed mystic vision for all parties, thus not just of the astral but of the divine realms - which could nip a whole lot of debate in the bud. (which is what some the advanced folks do anyway) -

and when a soul is finally satisfied with being a particular somebody - will they then one day only be satisfied with the ocean? -
Jonesboy, you do know that the KS lineage holder Swami Lakshmanjoo bluntly and without beating around the bush rejected and refuted Buddhist summations and conclusions, don't you?

does that mean you prefer the fundamentalist Buddhist take? Anyway anybody can take it or leave it as they want - -

umm, the ocean (Self) does not change, but agreed that a particular soul does change/evolve. -

inspiring and poetic everything, - although I'd say the ocean does not expand more. -
well if the Grace factor was not taught by the historic Buddha and or recorded by his on the scene followers before his passing then just how "Buddhist" are certain schools of Buddhism that you mentioned? No need to answer or speculate on that , it is up to Buddhists in their own schools and forums to figure it out.

If Lord Brahma (the creative aspect) does not last beyond the grand cosmic cycle (although repeats later) then neither do any other immortals... What lasts is hidden in plain sight and revealed through of the Grace of Self to the Self in the small lotus of the heart* of beings - which is not limited to those or any particular beings. *Chandogya Upanishad
-
btw, it seems we only have until the end of the cosmic cycle (aka the 'lifetime of Lord Brahma or creation/manifestation") to get our act together and realize enlightenment, and after that only enlightenment remains until the next cycle comes about with all new veiling and manifestation...thus if your doctrine goes along with that interpretation then all souls at the end of this cycle are going to enlighten/merge whether they want to or not...
