  1. Is Gardening Evil?

If we take our cue from nature, there's nothing wrong with gardening. Leaf Cutter Ants garden, they farm fungus in their nests, by feeding them grass, and keeping away moulds that would kill them, and then the Ants eat the fungus. In this case, the ant is the gardener, (Marblehead in this case... sorry ), the fungus being his flowers and the moulds being the weeds. The only problems begin when we look at the fact that the ants need to farm these fungi in order to survive, it is their main source of food. Don't pick the daisies! Sam
  2. Tao And Science

I liked this, I found it very entertaining. As a Taoist and a biologist, (I have a week left before the first year of my degree ends), I have to say that science seems to provide more and more evidence for the existence for the Tao, (though I gather that the majority of you need no proof of its existence ). The more I study biology the more I see a nearly perfect world that functions without the intervention of any man. Everything works perfectly and it is only when man begins to play about with bits and pieces of it, and perceive himself to be apart from it, does it begin to fall apart, (Chapter 39 of the TTC illustrates this for me, when taken literally). It is such a shame, that our societies take an affected view of themselves, to assume they are above the plants and animals, and thus are content to watch them perish. Shame on them. On a happier note... Hope y'all have a good day. Sam
  3. Tao 101 - If you could recommend only ONE book ...

It's The Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet for me. It's simple, and it's fun to read.
  4. Hello

Hello! (three times!) Been a taoist for hm... about wow.. four years now.. didn't realise it was so long. I'm not always the perfect Taoist, and usually throw wuwei out the window, but I reckon if I perservere I'll get it one day. Steady wind disperses more clouds than intermittent wind and all that. Have a nice day guys! P.s. it's not necessary for me to talk in rhymes/poems, is it?
  5. Hello

Thank you very much, it was entirely unintentional
  6. The god(s) in Taoism?

hmm... my mistake. I was being a tad more litteral as to the direction though, I meant a website or book, or person who knows about the Taoist gods that I might contact. Much love people.
  7. The god(s) in Taoism?

Where did you get your information, Om? Can you point me in the right direction? Sam
  8. The god(s) in Taoism?

Although I'm a Philosophical Taoist, I'd like to learn about the deities of Taoism, and, like Taomeow mentioned (sorry if that's wrongly attributed), their areas of "expertise" rituals, food offerings, prayers, colours and what not. Any where that I might learn these things without actually becoming a priest? Are they listed in the Daozang? I've read somewhere that rituals and other things are described in the Daozang, so can anyone recommend a translation (even if I'm completely barking up the wrong tree, I'd like one all the same, just out of interest =]). Much love people. Sam
