Bagua , I have asked a spiritual teacher that once and he told me : "Well , you have to fall in love with that "feeling" , it has to fill you in so that there is no room for anything else ." It depends what we connect to with words , thoughts and deeds , what kind of relationship there is . Also cultivating virtues of heart like patience , forgivness , loving the challenges and all boring sounding stuff really rocks and make life so much more beutiful and easy going . By the way my life has changed a lot as years are passing by , but by all means I am not connected 24/7 . Just sharing some thoughts.. edit : there seems to be the point that one needs to pass through and this requires either a lot of skill with energetic practises or virtue ,or combination . It is detangeling of a belly ,once this is done everything becomes easier and energy levels are higher .

I honestly don't now , don't even know about Sagehood , I mean I just mentioned it for the sake of being understood in the context of the thread ... I don't think that I will eliminate fears per se as they are existing as a possibility , but will try not act upon them or claim the as mine and embody them unnecessary . Some of them . Or most of them . All of them ? We will se how it goes ...They definetly feel like my psychological shoe is too small most of the time . Unfounded and some twisted socially conditioned fears don't rock my world . Due to being more or less further away from the center of the being ones own fears are more or less imaginary and/or twisted . This type of fear is dangerous for ones own well being and even physical health . I do not believe (OK never say never though ) that it possible to exist 100 procent TOTALY fearless all the time.That kind of person is not a person and I dont see how could s/he have physical body . Maybe the question should be what does not constitute Sage ?

Yes, I also think that if he had chronic fears than he would not be a sage . But than again I wont know until I become one ... In Yoga Vashista there is a beautiful story about Demon who gained enlightenment after a lot of realisations and hardships , he felt compassionate and really wanted to stop being Demon . However regardless of his enlightenment the best form he could take eventually was that of a Virus . Being a Virus is much better than Demon because it would do malice on very , very rare occasion . Whereas as a Demon he would need to do harm most of the time . So he lived as an enlightened Virus (or bacteria --cant remember correctly ) and did his viral infections whenever duty called . Maybe it sounds funny as I write , but it is actually a very deep story that shows that Nature is so colourful and full of different possibilities . As well that everyone has a role to play in keeping Life Alive, sometimes an unexpected one .

This could also depend where Sage is .. If he is in Sri Lanka and has a massive poisonous spider on the bathroom wall , fear would be appropriate signal in order to take action and remove it . Fear of crossing the red light in the middle of busy traffic is also appropriate etc .So fear is a warning , but I do agree that most of our fears are useless and actually in a way we as individuals are defined by fear . Can Sage be having fear of spiders ? I don't know , life is full of suprises .....OK not I suppose if this fear is chronic . Is Sage Perfect ? If so by what definition ?(just some questions that came up as I wrote this , indicated to whomever feels to answer it )

The thing is that with this stuff -- making progress and achievement is just not the correct mesurament for this kind of metamorphosis , infact it can be something like a spiritual virus . It does not belong to the realm of peacefulness . Achivement in this sense would not be Peacefulness , but false satisfaction . . Whatever happens is there for a reason, it is individual way of being . Individual is a sum of many circumstances and not just "doing" and every individual has a unique and important role in co-creation . Every little thing is important . Taking easy and go through everything toroughly . Also sometimes what seems like a lack of progress turns out to be a tool or a necessary pathway in order to be more relaxed . Cultivating patience , perseverance and fearlessness helps me a lot . As well as using the opportunity for practising entering stillness in the middle whatever chaotic demanding situation may be happening . That's where I am at . Not easy , but hey ..that is life .

Yes , you right Harmonious -- cultural discrimination . This goes so deep -- into our identity here in Europe that is shaped by mainstream Christianity . Just had a thought , wonder how would the similar type of bans look like in India for example ? So it is a desire for domination and not freedom . It is -- an inherent nature of perspective . Never to behave in a way that is disharmonious to society -- are wise words . Interesting question would be : what is harmonious to society ? Hey Zeros , You Tube blocked too ? This is crazy . All we can do is make sure to be human conduits for the right kind of stuff to come into being through words , thoughts and actions , be responsible in that way . Well yeah , its terrifying . I have lived through dictatorship for 17 years and know it when I smell it .. The real motive ? That is why clear communication on this is SO important . Why do we exist is -- a not an aprporiate question in long term , it could lead to good pointers that may lead to further discovery-- but cannot be answered with the full stop at the end . If it has to however be answered ,it would most satisfactory be so by silence or maybe even another question or prehapes by laying down on grass outside and looking at the clear summers night sky .

The way I see it is that Free Will comes to fructation only when the Time is right . In that sense it is not Free , but depending on the right time . Otherwise one may try and try to free will as much as they like , but it is not going to manifest . Or one may say Free Will is useless , unless the circumstances are right . This shows interconnectedness and interplay of many , many circumstances that co-create a human being and universe just as it is .

I really liked the story of the book "Cave in the snow ", so interesting .(recommended to those who haven't read it yet ) Jetsun you do have a point here .. I know one woman who spend 2 years solo deep in mountains and she had amazing meditation experience , infact so much that at the end she could not handle it and deschiper between waking , dreaming and meditation . Which of course is the goal , BUT ones whole physical system , including the nervous system must be prepared for it otherwise burn out happens OR experience simply remains an expirience and not a new way of being . Anyway the woman loved it and is a risk taking sort of person and is doing well , still working on integrating experience into daily life . Another girl sat in her cave and she told me all she could think of was her home country and nice food for days , weeks , months on end .. Another two old silent sadhus I know of who didn't speak for sooooooooo many years even a word , live in neighbouring cave and are at war with each other . Literally . Neither of them talk , but just furiously write threatening messages to each other , its mad and hilarious at the same time . Just writing this gossip to say that people live and learn and if someone has to do something than someone will do it no matter what cicumstances .

Yes it is not heavy . Infact it is so extremely light that it can be unbearable . That what is heavy is disspearing and usually dearly missed due to lifetime habits that crave deep connections and ways of relating to life . We are used to carry psychological lagguage -- mainly because that is how it is and it is normal and everyone does it and even if we are different still mostly we like to carry " I am different " sort of lagguage . So in this case one commits a sort of (psychological ) suicide ( yes it is terrible dramatic term ) in order to get reborn more bouynt , interconnected .

Michael , there are cheap places in India and Nepal ,there are places that if people know that you are there just for sadhana (as in for real , not just a cheapskate ) they let you stay for free . There are also many people in some types of organisations who are so beautiful and honest and non manipulative too and really willing to help when they see someone came and took so much time out of regular life just for practise . This is not on the internet or advertised , you get to know much things from people and other practicioners , and than many doors just open .. Otherwise huts vary in price depending how simple they are , usually if it is a meditation hut food would be available over there as often it is a complex with few huts . (edit after rereading ..) Whenever I go travelling I try find out how does a person of same/similar job do in another country , which means similarish needs and lifestyle and align myself with it (hope it makes more sense after editing , not sure though ..).
