  2. Why do tai chi masters seem bored?

It is worth to take in consideration that there is a lot of fake masters and there are real ones too , and also there are different personalities , different repressions and expressions plus cultural differences . I find I learn best from teachers that suit my personality well and I that I can realte to and communicate easyly well - and of course providng they have excellent knowledge of subject too .
  3. Solitude is important

Solitude in nature is nurturing and healing . Test to the true inner depth is being able to adapt and respond to any circumstance in any enviroment .
  4. Do you practice at midnight?

Midnight has been reccomended as a great meditation time by a Sufi (!) teacher I had a chat with , some of them meditate all the way till first morning prayer and sleep much less . Helpful time to dive deep within due to natural calmness in the nature at midnight . I used to get up at 4 am for quite a few years and go sleep around 10pm without fail like a good cultivation solider , did at least 2 hours cultivation before going about regular day and honestly I had so much energy , it was fantastic . Looking back I wonder how I did it .. :D On second thought-- maybe becouse it was a begging of a love affair with spiritual practise ...
  5. hi 4bsolute, Backbands -- and lift legs up in succession . I was gonna make a therad on backbands , becouse they are soooo good . Someone wrote sun salutation -- they are good too and open up the spine really well and fast for people who already practise . Headstands , handstands , flips or just hanging upsidedown sometimes . Breath in -- making sure stomach expands nicely , relaxed , feeling like slowly 'drinking' the air . When lying down on the back putting hands upwards byside of hips , straight legs slightly apart pointing/arching feet straight as possible (like a ballet dancer foot ) , brushing energy down from navel/abdomen area . This is really good excersise . Good luck !

It seems that you know yourself already what to work on .

Hi , I am butting in conversation with some thoughts , becouse it is that sort of morning ... But you do not have to talk , talk , talk with the girls . You know your limits so just excuse yourself and go off , help yourself . When I do not feel to talk -- I do not and am not rude or antisocial about it either . It is like dancing a very elegant , yet a very demanding dance . Being responsable is the key to deeper spiritual opening . More spiritual we become , more responsable we have to be otherwise whatever power there is it will go away and vice versa . I used to feel drained after days work a lot . Than I turned my work into spiritual practise watching very alert , as there was no choice . The key is opening heart , not minding whatever life brings and getting rid of blame mentality , just acting accordingly , sacrifisng everything for that opening , making it a priority , keeping priority in mind constantly . Polishing the heart , make it shiny and warm and keep it up like that . When heart opens more , and emotions and reactions are understood and acted upon correctly the belly will unwind . When the belly unwinds and feels relaxed nice feeling -- one does not feel easily drained but actually well 'oiled up '. Nowdays workday just goes through me , no stickiness and tierdness , becouse point of view changed . This is actualy on topic as well -- it is a way to deal with energy exchange .

See you next time I am off to watch Capoeira videos now . Take care and peace brother .
  9. Taoism Vs Buddhism

Think whatever you like always on and swear as much as you want , but do not take me wrong and mistake me for having animosity towards you or Indian culture . Just an opinion that may differ . There is a lot of wrong in inheretance system , corruption and disempowered women in India , why do so many of widows end up on the street ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21859622 from another source I just stumbeled upon ..http://dayatrust.com/india-widows: 'In traditional Hindu custom, when a woman’s husband dies, she becomes a zero and all her powers are lost,” says Mohini Giri, the former chair for the commission of women in India and a widow herself. She explains that many conservative Indian families see widows as a liability. Widows are shunned from society, not for religious reasons, but because of tradition and because they’re seen as a financial drain on their families. Cast out of the family home, they live the rest of their lives in poverty and isolation. Generally, for Hindu widows, the higher their caste, the more restrictions they face. When a man dies, his widow is expected to renounce all earthly pleasures. Many widows in India have been driven out from their homes and have no place else to go. They cannot remarry. They must not wear jewelry. They are forced to shave their heads and typically wear white. Even their shadows are considered bad luck. They live in terrible poverty, often begging or singing at temples for a measly meal. Many of the younger widows are forced into prostitution. Only 28 percent of the widows in India are eligible for pensions, but less than 11 percent actually receive the payments to which they’re entitled – meaning widows are at the mercy of their families.'.. As to certain India prayers done at home I was told by a scholary Indian Swamini friend of mine that it is still like that , should maybe reserch with quatable sources ...in Buddhism there are still some practises allowed for man only for example or hugley prdominantley . No it is the brute reality that it is not uncommon to prioritse male child for education over female -- it is a fact . Actualy in some places in India people do not even put girls to school full stop . Man takes care of the family finacially , women started to work only recently on larger scale . India is so big and diverse . Maybe you dont know about many things in the same way as you never heard of Sati . I could tell you stuff that would schock you and make you disbelieve me even more , but this is not forum for this . I do admit that maybe same is possible on my side , I bet I am ignorant of much stuff about India too . How long have you lived in India ? Are you India born elswhere ? Or ? Read the pdf I pasted . Anyaway I love India and have had some incredible times , so Ill leave it at this for now . Debate over on my side as it seems that you are overheating . Dont want to cause upset further .
  10. Taoism Vs Buddhism

OK where do I start ? The whole system is so based on patriachal ideals and do not work without them . That is why a lot of Hindu scholars dislike feminist thought . Inherentance system . Sati , which involves women jumping into her husbands funeral fire to prove her devotion -- which is still practised especially in rural India . The fact women are not allowed to do some puja prayers , but husbands should do it only . The fact that male child will predominatley be given rights for education over a a female child if a family is poor . Than there is this whole image of superior womanhood portrayed by Sita and still so admired . Sita is gentle , devotional and bears all -- this is where her strenght comes from . She is cool and I get it but you wont get a Durga or Kali as a superior role model for womanhood . Woman is seen solely as a mother or at times as a saint . This are two most decent roles , otherwise she is mostly outcsated out of society . Lover is not allowed out loud . So many widows are left on the street , LOADS , it is terrible I have wittnesed this . Not to mention single mothers - gosh those are black sheep . Infantcide -- selective gender birth . The fact that a family should have a son , this is pride and joy . There is the book witten by Swami Sivananda (who wrote some okish stuff too btw ) called Advice to women or something similar . In it it is written that woman should not complain and should bear with husbands whims and be his servant . Yes the wife is the servant of husbnad . I could give you loads more examples as well as private examples and stories from women I associated with , but would be too long for now . Look where I grew up is still quite patriachal , comparing to Western Europe for example . This is how it is and I am suprised you do not see it in India as yous seem as inteligent person .
  11. Taoism Vs Buddhism

Well , you see the patriachy is gone so deep that a lot of women totally buy into it and obey and perpetuate . So it is the womens responsability as well to sober up and understund what they want and what is possible and that greater freedom is actualy OK gulit free way to be . Sometimes conditiong is so ridicilously deep ... I have lived in India for a while and some family is still there after many long years , so I am very familiar with the system and culture , plus I have Indian friends and connections . Patriachy is super alive and kicking over there and has been looong time . However a lot of tresure has come out of India . It is a land of contraversy and spirituality . It has so obviously in one way or another inspired most of todays non Abrahamic spiritual intersts , which is a real big role to play .
  12. Taoism Vs Buddhism

Thanks alwayson , do not have such in depth knowledge on subject to comment . However I am aware of this being present . Would like to clarify what I said previously is that even the general standards of academia allows elements of cognitive dissonance still due to human nature factor regrdless of standards .
  13. Maybe some traditional Yogis feel culturaly insulted/ripped off about the disco version of Yoga available these days ... Yoga is traditionally a branch of Indian philosphy . What is practised today in most places is not Yoga , but it is called Yoga . It has elements of Yoga - a metamorphosised version for better or worst depending on people involved . Anyaway , yes asanas do rock ! Just adding some thoughts ..
  14. Taoism Vs Buddhism

Here is a definition of patriachy : http://www.du.ac.in/fileadmin/DU/Academics/course_material/hrge_06.pdf Yes , there still seems to be a lot of misundrestunding and cognitive dissonance between scholars from all parts of the world , it is as cat says impossible to avoid becouse it is a common human trait . Hopefully we are improving slowly but safley .
  15. Yes , it does make sitting in meditation easier/more efortless and deeper , plus to add it makes normal daily tasks easier to accomplish , becouse of feeling more fresh and invigorating . Well , for me personally this has been a missing link in life and spiritual practise . Anyaway , you go dmattwads reclaim your strenght ! Another thought -- Buddhist qigong . Teacher I learned/learning qigong was Buddhist and his emphasis were on physical as well ..
  16. .... 'I tried not to shiver or be too overwhelmed by his physical strength - but I said - well yes I mean muscles are like stored electromagnetic energy. Qigong master Jim Nance said yes how important it was to be strong for this healing. ' ... This is what I have been finding out too , although I have never really had a real interest in fittness in past and have never even been to gym in my life . Being physically more active (on top of daily spiritual practise ) and training like running and capoeira is like a true elixir , actually very blissfull and opening me up to a new level . Not some insane hard core workouts , just upping physical potential very organically - making feel more able and comfortable within skin , like a smooth running veichle . There was a debate about loosing chi and physical excersise on TTB few years back , but it is not necessary so for everyone . Or -- comments anyone ?
  17. AA

Thanks , I appreciate you pointing out . English is not my first language . I thought that contraversial means something else . More like an unusual , slightly extravagant and different and that is why it is causing a stir .
  18. AA

dmattwads , Personally I dont think that this is contraversional at all , some years back my mum used to talk always about the energy vampires , growing paranoid and defensive , raving about her kundalini going crazy becouse of this vampires etc ... As if this is all apart from herslef , cultivating seperatness under the some utopian idea of purism . This is life -- we all share energy and energy does not belong to anyone solely . Impossible . We give and take in different ways and mesaures . By understanding this and everything becomes more chilled , it is like learning to swim in waters of Life . As Rainbowvein suggested in other therad best way is to -- take from Source . Just my thoughts , as always subject to change . Anyway , it is intersting to read others opinions on this topic .
  19. AA

Not that much I am afarid . However the tree should at least wear a raincoat in equally mesuared intervals during the rainfall , so that it looses the vamipre like gluttony for the rain . Plus this would ensure the fair distribution of rainwater to the grass and fungus growing under the tree .

mainitou nice reading you , answer you next time i am a buisy woman next few days . got to rush , xx
  21. One incredible fortune cookie

Hello Hydrogen , I like the message in your fortune cookie and certanly agree with that one . Cocreating , but not only 'every person is a creation of himself ' . As individuals everyone is different mix of same stuff . Our thoughts depend on so many circumstances . This shows that as much as person is creating himslef , he can only create himself according to enviroment including stars and planets , DNA etc .. When person becomes truly wise s/he starts abiding by different rules . That is why I said that original thoughts are rare . It is common endevour for example to want to create something -- wherther a situation , and no matter how hard one is trying -- it is just not possible . Mostly becouse the time is not right , as simple as it sound , nothing to do with individual ability to create . As embryo lives 9 months in a womb and than is born , so do all ideas and thoughts manifest accordingly to their own timing that could actually be decoded and rearranged to extent through meditation . Good that you enjoy your pretending - for better or worst , but dont understand why would or what would make you feel like a trapped bug inside the glass jar (context of ?)? I definetly stand behind that most of our thoughts are recycled and reshaped . There is nothing just so glamorous and individual , more like interconnected . Although I do like to think that I am glamorous individual sometimes , especially now that the Spring is here . A lot of inventors and scientists or artists IMO get sort of revelateions , but obviously not necesasry of religious nature . Which result in a sort of outward siddhis .
  22. One incredible fortune cookie

In a way yes and in a way no . Most of our thinking/knowledge is not our own IMO , but a product of our enviroment , recaycled and reshaped ideas we choose to mindlesly act upon . Only when we go deep within do we get fresh knowledge , and that is quite rare. In another words yes ideas translate into actions and become ones own reality , but those adopted ideas are shared property we embody in different individual ways . Now where do ideas , thinking come ? This an interesting one . It is 7am and Iam feeling particulary phylosophical , am off for my morning meditation maybe should meditate on this ...
  23. Sobonfu Some

Just found this talk and it really hits the spot about healing and the connection to the community and importance of all relationships between family , comunity , country , universe and interconnection between those circles and abilty to heal . As well as how grief and problems are collective and not only a personal issue . The way Sobonufu puts that in West people like to own their problem saying 'this is my problem ' . Refreshing perspective on how life works :
  24. Animal Flesh and the Fall of Man.

I am glad to hear that you are learning to keep passion in check , I had problems with it too so can relate .
  25. Animal Flesh and the Fall of Man.

I am definetly not proud of dominating life on the face of the globe thing . It is equals providing my family with the rubbish skip to live in . Have you thought over about what you wrote or ? I do not think man fell becouse eating meat either White Wolf . It is OK to be enthusiastic and passionate and informing ,but too much rightiousness can metamorphosise into dislike and subtle violence . Which -- if one is not careful can burn out of proportion .
