It is worthwhile to mention that before this Voodoo Doctor does reading for people he first consults the spirit guide , and this usually means that white people ar not allowed for reading . Interstingly spirit told him that I have black blood in me ( well not to my knowledge and dont look black at all ) and that it is OK to come for divination . So just saying this as example , becouse you never know the reasons someone may have for not initiating ... Besides lets not forget about Colonialisation and the atrocities white people induced on African people and continent . AAAaand lets not forget converting people in Africa into Christianity , which is still so dominant and done in such SNEAKY ways . Sick, sick ,sick . Naturally precoutions and strong defense mechanisam have been developed , plus with certain initiations a person must undergo certain rituals which are suitable for certain type of psyche , plus a lot of voodoo stuff is oral tradition -- no internet initiations , no written stuff . One good book to read is Patrice Malidome Some 'Of water and spirit' and get idea about initiations and whys . In the begging the book is good and OK , but it took me a while to read first 20 , 30 pages . Afterwards it is really good , couldnt put it down . He writes a lot about initiatiation he undergoes as a rites of passage in Burkina Faso , something that used to be only oral tradition before . Initiation is hard core rigorous and extremly interesting account to read about . P.M.Some has been one of those unfortunate kids who are abducted as small boy into Jesuit mission school , where he was brainwashed for 15 years and SEVERLY misterated . He further talks about sexual , mental and physical abuse going on in the school and torturous means of disciplining and teaching . Anyway he was so scared and totally changed on psychic level that when he finaly did manage get back to his people they almost did not accept him back becouse in order to stay with them he needs to undergo transforming adulthood initiation and there wrer strong chances that he may die during the initiation . Just had a thought -- why not ask around Afro Carribean comunity , even in Capoeira places some people practise Candomble . Candomble is pretty open to all . -

Not in depth expirience over here . Have been to a vodoo 'doctor' (thats how he was called although I went for divination only ) reccomended by Jamaican friends of mine about 17 years ago and it was interesting and a bit wierd . Wierd in a way that I found out that he does really wierd style healings . Where are you based ? So peolpe can give you some suggestions . For example if you go to the place like Benin surley you wont have much troubles finding a Vodoo priest . Here is a documentary that has some interesting basic info on Temple of Python in Benin: In Brasil it is not hard to get into Candomble at all , same Haiti and Vodoun .. but it depends where are you and how far you want to travel . I find reading about African traditions really interseting , but all this animal sacrifice is not my thing practisewise . -
Hi , I am researching tummo. Cant find any teachers that teach it , especially that have gained from practise themselves(situated in Europe or Asia prefably). My reason is probably very shallow in some peoples eyes , but Ill be honest as I dont really care for coolnes factor. The reason is becouse I am trying to figure out how to keep warm at low temperatures without fire or five sleeping bags. This would be particulary usefull to adopting living or staying in nature for longer periods when cold. Any reasons not to undertake this practise? Has anyone taken it up for longer? How long? What did you get out of it?

Hey Vmarco , yes too right keep some tissues handy !!

yes i watched her several times , there was definetly an 'event' going on , it was so alive . Dont know if she was from North Korea or South . For her spreading the legs -- there were serious objections from some shamans about it , almost an outrage ..
-
In Korean shamanism - shamans are usually women and yes it is still very popular over there (at least in South Korea that is ), but not necessary cool if you know what I mean . See if I can find a super good documentray someone posted on here a while ago where right at the end there is a healing session with a Korean shaman and session is ALIVE . Found it . If you want to see her only (it is really good watch) go to 01:00:10

It is good to get informed and buy sustainable seafood if that is what you like to eat , becouse we are losing spieces and ecosystem with it : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7142053.stm .... 'Wild salmon on Canada's west coast are being driven to extinction by parasites from nearby fish farms, a study claims. Wild pink salmon around the Broughton Archipelago are declining rapidly and will die out within 10 years if no action is taken, say researchers. They say the data, published in Science, raises serious concerns about the global expansion of aquaculture. ...' ... Marine life extincion -- serious dangers as well as rapid rise of different fishing restrictions all around the world : http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2011/jun/20/marine-life-oceans-extinction-threat -
Actually my mum caught a Brahmin eating a pig , telling me afterwards how they pretend . So funny that I am actually posting this . You know that Kashmiri Brahmins are not necesarry vegeterian , as well as a lot of Bengalis of whom many claim to be veggie but eat fish . So in Orissa they joke saying that Bengalis think that fish is a vegetable .

Just like to mention personal expirience of realxing the belly being a hard job where a practicioners gets to know so much about how organism works -- interconnection between mind and body . It is complicated and a lot of people get some digestive or similar problems on the Way , the matter may or may not be purley physical.

Booking a councilor is great move , as well as volounteering with people going through same issues . You have to let us know how it goes after a longer while too , dont forget . Come back and report .

Anyway how you feeling today Blue Monk ? Any more inspired ? Or ?

You do not need to walk on other peoples properties -- google fu . Put an ad in one of the sites I mentioned above . 'I am so broke and in dire need of plant food seeds that will grow into food and feed me. Any help much appriciated .' I understand what you are saying actually becouse there are ceratin fields in my life where I feel so confused and mentaly dislexic and to everyone else it is the most common knowledge . OK to give you exapmle of how I learned gardening skills . I decided I d like to have 6 weeks off in the summer somwhere in amazing nature as well as trying out how does it feel to live in wilderness but in a small comunity setting . I did not have any money except around100 Euros for a ticket money to wherever. So I googled volounteering in certain places and tried volounteering in spiritual communities . They can be dodgy places , but thats the flavour I like if it is the good place . This amazing place came up , I wrote to the and offered my skills and they welcomed me . I worked 5 days a week as it was my own place ,with whatever needs doing and was part of life there . Met some really lovley people , learned gardening and enjoyed loads of time in nature alone , meditating in the pine forest till dark , walking and swimming in the river . Just be creative and daring . As to your spoiler and occupy movement , no I dont appriciate mad attidudes eithers at all . However nothing is perfect , but some things are in general better than others. edit ,there you go my lovley : http://garden.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Free_Vegetable_Seeds

Get on the gardening forums about free and exchanged seeds as well as check your local 'green' community for any excahange of the skills program where you may be able to learn about gardening or volounteer somwhere locally. I have learned my gardening skills within a month of volounteering/living/sharing in a community in Europe . It is a real treasure. See if you can swap skills locally with someone . Research in that direction -- there is so much stuff out there , I know as I lived it . For example I am organising a sewing (making clothes ) workshop soon , think of something you could do and maybe swap it for another skill/seeds . Maybe try and offer to work on someones farm for a day for loads of seeds . Most probably they have some spare somwhere . Try these sites http://www.freecycle.org/ and http://www.justfortheloveofit.org/freeshare When you get going let us know and it will be big influence in this community . Get involved . Occupy depression !

Yes hello ! Where have you been all this time ? Definetly internalizing that point . It is such a natural meditation that can occur to anyone , a point and aliveness beyond thoughts and words . Something we used to do naturally as kids .
-
Involvment in community projects and volounteering is the way to go in this kind of situation and feel abilty to give and recieve , contribute , support and feel suported . It gives natural opportunity to retune in desired frequency and rebuild our world into a better place . A place that is more all inclusive and caring , make home better place to live .

Spiritual Eye (Blue Pearl) in Taoist literature
suninmyeyes replied to SecretGrotto's topic in Daoist Discussion
I forgot to mention this site http://www.yoganiketan.net/ which has some good free books to read , mainly explanations of yogic scriptures . Yoga Patanjali as explained by Lahiri Mhasay is my favourite , even in very first verse the star is mentioned as setteling into the state of samadhi.- 26 replies

All this ocean talk reminded me that at the Buddhist monestary set by the ocean shore , I have visited recently the Guru /Teacher gave a contemplation on horizon -- a point where ocean meeting the sky as a one of the main meditations/ teachings for people to practise .
