I was in Nepal at the begging of his meditations in a jungle and at some point just some kilometers away from where he was sitting. Remeber that he very clearly insisted that he is not a buddha although locals and press insisted on calling him so. He was a kid/teenager who got strong inspiration to meditate, went into jungle and all he wanted was to sit and be left alone .That is how I understood it. Than at some point he dissapeared from that spot and went somwhere else , as he was getting crowded with large influx of people coming to visit him .

Hi manitou (this is not really all directed to you , but to clarifying my point of view too), Yes Saddam posibly did think that he was a moral man . I also remeber reading about atrocities in Ivory Coast about 12 years ago where its leader claimed that he was orederd by God directly /God spoke to him-he probably thought he was doing the right thing. However that is not what I am talking about at all. I am talking about basic human decency and common sense , need on individual and wider social level to ditinguish between right and wrong as they are so very important in order for everyone to live better life. As well as abide by certain ethics of not harming. These ethics and morals come in place when people forget themselves and act either insane and go around killing, raping , mugging... Social and personal dos and donts. Purley becouse world is not in situation now to have people just like this out of sky thinking and acting out of their heart . Not today . Not even big procenat of spiritual people. These dos and donts annoy me sometimes as well , but some are necessary for now. I grew up in a communist country , that was under dictatorship . Later on during some crisis a lot of people wouldnt get payed for doing their job. Sometimes for a month or two, but would still keep their job working daily full hours for free becouse they had no other chance of empolyment. Nowadays it has all changed a lot and basic human rights are almost in bloom. This is just one small example of how important it is that ethics and morals are employed on social level in society that we are in right now. Not talking about ideal society , I am talking about the stuff going on now. How about the women in Egypt being able to vote finally last week? These ethics and type of moral are highly important. On personal level a lot of 'seekers' are unable to listen to the depths of their being at all times. Unfortunate , but true. What to do in that case? Discriminate logically, try be as emotionally mature as possible and relay on personal morals if we cant on the inner knowing and intuition. Until one can listen deeply please employ common sense ,logic , emotional reasoning as all these are a type of moral as they are based predominantley on social conditioning and not direct inner knowledge. Thats my take on this, think I said all I can say on this for now.

Hi Chris, just saw your reply and just need to add something.. I definetley do not think that ego is a sum of impurities only .It is a sum of purities too. As well as on personal level reactions, motivations,pursuings,abilities... Maybe the whole of the nature is a type of ego too. Should we get rid of the nature? Kill the universe ? Wanting to kill ego is just an ego wearing a different dress . And maybe a ninja mask on her face, moving very skillfuly. Ego is part of being human, like having a blood or a neck. Cutivating being a good and useful human being is much better on a personal and global level. Fu Yue wrote a really nice reply.

Sounds as if it would be helpful to have a teacher whom you could discuss with your practise and its effects in a friendly and open way . As well as deeper studying of some psychology and spiritual texts and trying to put some stuff that resonates with you in practise. Research and take your time to decide how much you are prepared/interested to face and understand and draw the limits whereteher to practise or not. In the begging of such spirutal practise a lot of personal nastiness may start to surface and it is important to understand what is what and why clearly.

I was trying to portray how important use of morals can be and used Saddam as an extreme example. What I am trying to further convey is that for most of us it is more than useful and reccomended to use common sense and morals at times. Make world and our lifes a more livable place. Saying that , I do actually like the meaning of this: 'Who are you without judgement? Know that, and acceptance of all that is, lies before you' But honestly wouldnt be able to employ it at work or when buying a bus ticket, that could be just me though. Just trying to bring it all down to practical level, as from personal expirience sometimes I do feel out of whack and some morals do come handy. OK enough of moralising .Later.

Without judgment you are lost and potentially dangerous for yourself and others. Just look at the Saddam Hussein for example, he definetly did not have strong moral and sober judgment. I would further suggest not to accept everything that is in life , but learn to choose and life will become much nicer. This stuff is important ABC of Lifeism.

Where is Shakti Mama now? My suggestion would be that maybe you do need to read up on different religions and spiritual belives/views and take on some spiritual practise even a simple mindfullness kind of practise. This would in turn empower you with possibility of different understanding of rhytam of nature and your individual rhytam and its changes and interconnectedness. -
No not absolute moral code , however some morals are good to keep IMO,especially if we are not living in harmony with all the nature, all the time. They can be useful tools for wellbeing and maintaing more peace. Sometimes basing our judgment on morals, instead of our feelings and emotions can be very fruitfull depending on situation.

Of course there is something to do as long as we are alive . Ganing better relationships with everything in life is one thing worth doing as well as learning to listen and time ourselves well according to the situation. However all getting rid of ego concept just seems illogical to me - who is getting rid of it? It is not possible. I would even say that cultivating healthy ego is worth doing and very foundation of well integrated life. Recognition rather than a process as you mention sounds right to me.

Well it seems to me that you are listening to your needs and know what to do. Glad to hear you are better. Here is a really nice book by H.Inyat Khan 'Mysticisam of sound and music' http://www.sufimessage.com/mysticism-of-sound/index.html I dont necessarily agree with everything written but touches up on some interesting points about sound should you be at all interested to explore.
-
Maybe not even that ,becouse who is getting rid of ego really? Taming mind is just another doing which could be considered a 'higher' form of ego by many or a sattvic ego in yogic teachings. I am not being funny or anal . Just seeing a lot of teachings around about getting rid of ego or killing the ego which seem so illogical - emperors new clothes, so decided to add my opinion. Going to watch the video now.

This looks similar to a yogic technique for samadhi practise that is done after some other practises. Where after certain breathing , attention is payed and one hangs out in bindu/medulla oblongata - vacuum . The life force does not associate with the physical and emotional body. It is yogic chakra breathing, but strange(for me) that breathing up is going infront of the body, it is usually other way around.

jacklantegi, I mostly agree with deparadise on this. Except, I would add that hearing inner sounds could directly correspond to understanding of who and how we are and how we are coming into physical manifestation. It is something worth exploring and questioning. We are build on sound , sound is our first 'skeleton'that physical bone skeleton is bulid upon. By deeper practise one needs to learn to swim ,where shiczophrenics drown. It is a ride of a lifetime. How much you want to explore or when you want to have a break to digest is up to you. Everyone has a shizophrenic potential inside ,just that most dont notice it (just my opinion). Exploring inner dimensions requires developing clarity and courage which comes from soft loving, forgiving heart - sorting out ones mental and emotional house. I hear all sort of things and music too regulary for years. I listen to the sound of my body and can even hear hurt knee emiting different sound frequency to the other knee. Just letting you know that this things are not so unusual or as uncommon. Why not ask the person who thought you qigong about your expirience? That is what I did when just started meditating and have developed a friendly relationship that way with my teacher.

Love this thread and the flowers . So fresh.

Hi Phore, That sounds good to me. I did some research recently as I want to have mercury fillings removed too and dentist at emergency adviced that the best is to get it done by someone who specialeses in doing it or has a lot of expirience (very good at it)plus not to take out few at one time.

I clearly remeber having a war dream days before any talk of the war started in Slovenia and Croatia, it was like a very nightmerish precognition dream . I have also combed my mind for any other dreams and remebered a dream about recent devastating erthquake in Japan. In a dream I was drawn to this place that I have never visited before . There immediatley I meet man as if he was waiting for me. He is a spiritual man, fellow practicioner that I know(dont know where from)he tells me that this is the time when Japonese people need much help in any form and it is a time of so much ferafullnes and sorrow. We walk through the destroyed land , talking. He tells me some things about disaster and the feel of terror is so tangible. The morning after I find out about earthquake in Japan. Today when I remeberd this man I tried to find his connection in my heart and still felt him faintly . Can I just add that he was incredible right measure of interpersonal/spiritual qualities and looks. I dream often just as falling asleep or waking and sometimes very vividly ,my dreams are not the same as they used to be - they are infact totally different. I dont agree what Hagar said that when a certin level comes that you dont dream, as I have met a lot of meditators/practicioners who did retrets even for years and they all dream, including my teachers. It is also true that at some point it is hard to remeber dreams becouse in some states it is hard to keep awarness although duality is still present (IMO), but prehaps less than usual. There is always stuff to process/work to do if not on personal , than on global/universal level of being. Suppose this is where dream and waking reality sort of merges too. Dont know if I sound clear about this at all. Otherwise catastrophes are not really present in my dreams for all I remeber for now. What about you Tao Meow? What prompted you to ask?

Just wanted to frame this.

Reading some posts.. So it seems that what pain does is in some cases is forces us to become alert and present, adequatly responsive to life. That pointing seems to be the role of pain. While this may be more common and true in spiritual life, it is not so for wide majority of people. All we need to do is take a walk on the buisy street and look at the postures and faces of people deeply and we can recgonise how much pain of all sorts has taken toil on their lifes. Majority have not learned anything from it but, infact it has worsened their living conditions. Pain feeds on itself and it is not easy to eliminate. It can take over peoples life to extreme extent. Which in turn results in people being out of tune physically, mentally, spiritually. What really helps is learning to being tuned in, aware, this is the real teaching, not the pain. Pain just points, if we dont know how to adress what it points to problem wont be solved. Most people dont. Being tuned in, can be learned painlessly as well through being intelligent and attentive. So when pain does occur one already has skills to deal with it. This is what we as world society need. We need to heal. Personally I have learned through pain and of course it is natural to feel it , but have also learned that pain (physical especially) is definetly not necesarry to learn and choose and look for avenues to grow in ease ,allowing life to live .

There are paths where pain is considered the main way to reach certain spiritual depths. For example if we look into some Christian paths. You are considered very deep if you suffer like Christ. Or some extreme ascetism. Or even some devotional practises. Pain is not necesarry for learning predominantley IMO. However it should not be feared or histerically avoided. If pain is acute and long term I can understand someone not being able to take it any longer and wanting to find peace in death, nothing wrong with that, becouse not everyone has same strenght or ability to heal. This type of pain does debilitate life. Also the whole of our society loves pain in subtle and grosser forms, from entartainment to foods that seriously harm our bodies . We are self mutilating ourselves in a way. Pain in its many forms is our god, an image we (most of us that is)into which we aspire to grow. Seriously sick. Not to mention the impact this attitudes have on our enviroment. This is a sort of distorted version of Christan model or metamorphosised version of which is still our deep cultural conditioning. So enough pain - welcome gentelness and intuitive intelligence, we need to 'change the record' and point of referance urgently and deeply. I have also observed as mentioned previously that some people that learn something through pain few times do actually become addicted in a way maybe without even realising. This is easy to do becouse everything that is repeated few times has a superb potential to become a habit if not uprooted soon enough. That seems like a nice link, am intersted to read it properly after dinner.

Intersting to hear your story .Listening is simple if you know how , otherwise one may hear , but not necesarry understand or be able to respond adequatley. Life has unexpected ways to put her point across. I too definetley would not reccomend pain as a chosen learning path. Yuck, not my cuppa.

K you seriously make me laugh with these opinion alerts . It is true what you say, many misalighments and various illnesses are directly influnced by our mental/emotional well being. We do 'hold things' and cause the to stagnate which translates as some sort of illness/misalighment on physical level.

Sounds like your practise is going really well. Always love to read your posts about it Rainbow , it is fresh and stimulating .
