I have expirienced pain over period of 3 years constantly, all my energy went for healing . Lost will for life and was meant to be dead. Life has its own way and kept me going for some reason. It was awful and wouldnt wish it on anyone. Couldnt afford healing except few times litearlly ,so in order not to drown in own self pity and remorse and sourness and pain I have decided firmly just to love. I dont care whatever happens I will do my utmost not to close down and start distorting in dislike and impatientce. Love is my most powerful weapon. Love is fuller and more potent than anything else. It is easy to love when loved and everything is going smooth , but it takes courage and constant dedication to love under all circumstances (by the way I am not there yet ). Love heals. Would I learn this lesson otherwise or was pain nesesarry? I dont know , I like to think that yes I would, but maybe not . As it this seemed to be a sort of a battle in the inner world too with the result of a big change in astral alighment. Some big psychic block was uprooted in the process. Pain is necesarry sometimes for some people to learn something. Some people get used to learning through pain (mental, emotional or physical) , so that subconciously they are always seeking it and become disorientated without it.

Rainbow ,yeah the connection from head to the rest of the spine is luminous ,when I found out about it it gave such sense of security and lots of courage.

Some really good insights in this thread. Neck is difficult one and most peolple do hold it stiff without realising it. When the stomach really starts to open and feel very pleasent and relaxed neck opens up too in my expirience so far. This is going above emotions and wordliness , different area of being. It is when neck opens that one starts feeling real bliss/melting. I do pay attention to medulla oblongata and sort myself out there a lot and watch connection with heart and lower dantian, whilst relaxing my jaw, holding stillness on top of the head . Sounds difficult maybe but it is faster to do than a thought. (edit to add: while relaxing a jaw making sure that back teeth touch each other lightly and are in the right position helps a lot)

I feel the same with my life especially today when my goal was to take 2 months off and was meant to be flying , but was already on the airport and had to turn back and find myself at the moment in the wierdest and not most pleasent situation ever. Not my will. 6 months ago I was meant to spend 4 months in Asia , a big unavoidable obstacle manifested totally unaspectedly and I ended up loosing ticket and not going. Not my will. However I am suspicious now and trying to listen very carefully as this is getting out of proportion. One way or another outer world is reflection of inner world and something is obviously calling to be adressed.

Enjoyed your post Steve. This is interesting about arising of the thoughts , they seem to be almost elemental to me . Yes it is impossible to control ,but to lessen attraction for certain thoughts and that way being able to choose thoughts more wisely and weave ourselves into existance more elegantly. This process is indeed fascinating on many levels, life is not what I thought it was. Especially when being becomes more magnetised and less linear. There is absolutley no going back to old thinking, just dancing more skilfully with massive amounts of abondament. As if life rips us wide open , life is living me . Control? My will? I dont know actually, dont care to know it either - it is just an extra lagguage.

Just remebered reading this years ago 'Kundalini Upanishad' http://www.yoga-age.com/modern/end.html Dont know the website above in my link and havent really checked the translation , but Upanishad itself is intersting to read . A lot of yogic practises are mentioned in it.

I also feel that you do , but you dont have free will. I really like what R.Balsekar says about it in this clip,

Would you like most women to cover up their beauty?
suninmyeyes replied to Everything's topic in The Rabbit Hole
I disagree as this does not always apply and there are many misreading of the signs in play too. For example I am about to go cycling across Medditerenian Europe for few months and it is going to be hot . This weekend I am packing and thinking as to what am I going to wear, so that I am not hot and at the same time that I dont look too revealing and get all the guys checking out my ass and getting unwanted attention. It is actually a real hussle . In the ideal world this kind worries should not be present. Guys could easily go in shorts and shirtless, can you imagine a woman doing the same? -
Oh yes I had old issues flaring up. Not very pleasent. Working on old issues is best adressed from every possible angle (this is what helped me): -physical : watching the food/drink intake and regulating it as needed individually, keeping the body reasnobly fit and healthy. Relationship with money/job. -mentally/emotionally: reflection and being aware and present as much as possible which in turn allows better relationships and easy adjustment to enviroment and situation as they occur -spiritually doing whatever cultivation one usually does and also keeping that in check and refelecting werther it requires some adjustment Letting go of concepts of what the things/life/relationships should be like and adjusting to the circumstances as they develop - flexibility. Letting go mentally, emotionally, internally relaxing instead of clenching . Willing to enter unknown and be more led by/operated by life, instead of my ideas of life. Allowing for perspective to be completley changed and a sort of gentelness to take over life that is everflowing and easy, instead of old borders of right and wrongs. It seems that everything needs to be faced and adressed on all levels ,heart must be polished constantly. Being well intentioned and trying to be a decent human being is both a great help emotionally, energetically as well as a protection ,allowing for more peace to enter. This is all interconnected as well with the energetic aspect. When the neck and head start to open more the whole system starts to balance itself out , that is where and why preferd energy practises are helpful and do work. Watching for breath to flow evenly in the both nostrils heleped me too. If finaces allow visiting a super expirienced bodyworker would be helpful too.

Would a Bodhisattva own a dog for protection?
suninmyeyes replied to Vmarco's topic in General Discussion
Depends on the Bodhisattva and circumstances I guess. Yes it is compatable with Taoism ,why not ? Taoism is not exclusivly orientated on cultivating pure goodnes alone as little as I understand of it. It does not teach to become an angel , acting appropriatley in given situation may require the whole spectrum of actions. This may require owning a dog for protection at times. What may seem appropraite and best for one situation may not be such in the other situation of slightly different shade. I can see where you are driving at , but this kind of ideas are not flexible enough for infinite possibilities of life. Any kind of fixation will prove to be harmfull at some point. If you would to say 'in most cases' or 'in general' I might have be agreeing with you more, as personally I disagree with keeping any animals as pets whatsoever for myself and definetley disagree with any concept of a ZOO. Than again I can fully understand that everyone is in different circumstances and owning a pet may be just right for them . What you are saying sort of reminds me of Jesus saying :'If someone slaps you on one cheek , you should turn your head and offer them another'. Forget it , I am not a masochist. -
There are many Sufi schools/teachings even in Europe, just go to Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia some places Macedonia, lot of Dervishes too over there , people teaching. Just they are not so glamorous. Anyone can join prayers and learn . Most of those Sufis are doctors, farmers, shopkeepers - living in the normal world and practising. As far as practises are concerned all one needs to do is set out regular schedule for daily practise , and get on with life and lifes chanllenges. Ability not to get hypnotysed by life develops usually slowly. Slowly, slowy . Changes do happen , sometimes so slow that they are almost not noticable. Spiritual practises DO help a lot if done on regular bases as a part of normal daily life . One just must keep on doing it no matter what, this is the trick and personality patterns will surley start dissolving. The practises work as a type of fuel and 'psychological shower'at the same time. Teacher can be very useful to many people. Everything is difficult at the begging, in spirutual life is the same if not even more difficult , we must pass through high moutains , deserts ,oceans, jungles face all obstacles - alone . Sometimes mountains are super high and deserts seem neverending - so slowly but surley is a good pace. My life has been completley transformed by meditational practises . Just my 1 pence

Is the West more accepting of Death than the East?
suninmyeyes replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
Hello tulku the contraversial ! Long time no see. Actually having lived in Asia myself for some years I have noticed that these people do have a healthier attitude to death. For example one time coming out of the teahouse in Easter India I literally almost stumbeled/bumped over the corpse that was carried to the burning ghat uncovered on some sort of wood and sheet hand crafted carrier by two people in the middle of the city. At first I thought that the lady was ill but realised that she is actually dead. Noone seemed shocked by the sight of the corpse. On the beach where they burn people one can see parts of the body like hands and legs etc. that haven managed to burn yet. It is a good reminder of ones own mortality . If the people sight this in Europe it would cause a lot of issues and upheavel. Have you read Katha Upanishad where little boy Nachiketa was instructed by Death ? It is a good read. -
I am on my feet all day long at work ,so taiji comes in so helpful. A lot of dantien work - sinking whilst keeping air still on top of my and listening which comes from my yogic practise . By listening learning also to act appropriatley instead of react. This is real beuty and culture. Oh yeah and tounge up (kechari mudra)if not speaking or eating. Dont know which jobs are suitable for martial artists development, but my taiji teacher was very happy when I told him that I am on my feet all day and told me that this is will be very beneficial for my practise.

Magic and Mystery in Tibet is the very first spiritual book on Eastern mysticisam I have ever read when 16 years old and it so rocked my world - incredible much. Reccomended. Plus Alexandras D.- N. s feerlesnes on her journeys still continue to be inspirational .

Damn , the video is closed at least here in Europe, would have liked to see it. The thing with Russians and Eastern Europeans/Balkans we have the tradition of cold bathing for health , it is not uncommon. It is a very old tradition. Orthodox Christians in some places have a ice cold bath/swim for Easter . In UK some people (regardless wherther reliogious or not) have tradition to go swimming in the cold sea for Christmas day . When visiting a friend in Sweden few cold winters ago she invited me for a swim . I thought in a swimming pool , but no it was in the sea(!). They have saunas build by the sea , so they have a quick swim than run to sauna , than swim , back to sauna. It is appereantly very good for health and she has been doing it since kid. Many people have adopted to cold well and can endure it. Scotty wrote:'As luck would have it, an American kid trained with Wim Hof and published the techniques in this book recently: http://www.amazon.co...32039508&sr=1-1' Since the start of the thread I actuallly bought that book and it is much less interseting than I thought it would be. Basically the training seems to be slowly adopting to cold from what is shared (very sort of common sensical approach), and it is quite autobiographical. To be honest enjoyed reading the bits but couldnt be bothered to read the whole thing.

No that I want to stay in cold weather, but I love being outdoors and find it impossible to live outdoors or camp out in nature if it is very cold. Outdoors life is very much missed during the winter season. Are you tummoing too Everything?

Yes to this. Cultivation is all the time, if 'you'forget start again. Keep sobering up no matter what. Cultivation can be of breath, mind, actions , keeping in mind certain inspirational texts all day long and coming back to it for a deeper insight etc.. Cultivating behaviour towards myself and towards others and enviroment so that it is just right for the situation that arises. If having two jobs is hard for cultivation and enviroment is not right just now, how will a person become open enough to embrace all humanity and nature in all its diversty with all her madness? How will tolerance be developed? These shortcomings are the actual secret tools for cultivation. Secret in a way that they are not so obvious always. More we are put up against - more we open up and get really cultured.

Really good movie/cinematic poem about the Sufi way, one of those films that sends chills down my spine and open up my being. Although I am sure some may find it terrible boring. Bab Aziz a prince who conteplated his soul here is the trailer and here is the movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xGWprIVwUU It is a part of triology appereantly, I am yet to see the rest of the parts. Just as a side note it is interesting to note that I took 2 months off and am planing on cycling through the Europe/wild camping at the end of the month and get to Marocco (depending on how life goes and if I make it on time and manage not to get lost) for the Sufi gathering with a lot of music that I like . So just tried googeling some stuff about Sufisam in Spain and Marocco and found this amazing film about various different people going for a Sufi gathereing and trying to find it! What a message.

Well human body is obviously designed to be vegan as well as it there are so many healthy vegans and has always been, actually human body has incredible capasity . As long as there are vegans in the world it must be as nature itended for those indviduals. What I am trying to say is that majority does not necessary equal natural. It simply means majority. Who knows maybe we are going to pop only some pills in future for our food, it may become our natural way of life (hopefully not ). It is worth taking in consideration the fact that everything constantly changes too ,as you mentioned yourself about modern society and humans adapt and change too. Actually as I stated before nature is not tame and one dimenisoned , she expresses her self in so many different ways at the different times through all the physical manifestations. So I dont believe in labeling things per masses as unshakable rule ,rather taking in consideration an individual. Maybe eating vegan was our frist diet too , it is a possibility. By the way I am not claiming anything becouse I simply honestly dont know.

What an interesting topic Zanshin. It would be nice to see some helpful replies. I am still too young for menopose myself, but remeber my mum at that time of her life taking up seated meditation and some breathing techniques and some yogic asanas which she did twice a day every day. Sometimes more and still continues to do. This helped her to sort herself out a lot plus cure her chronic rheumatisam too.

Of course yes! Why would someone who is ill be less spiritiual than someone that is healthy?
-
hehe no teacher would ever succeed in making me eat meat for sure. I would not recommend diets to others either, but would happily share personal results to show a possibility that exists. Talking about breaking free of fixed patterns is good and absolutely necessary, but know when and how is supremely important, and which ones at which time otherwise results could be terrible. Also replacing patterns is as important , because life goes on.
