  4. Anyone tried living on just brown rice?

A flatmate of mine was always talking about brown rice 'fasts'and would do it for no longer than day or so, mainly becouse he would get fed up of just brown riceing. As far as the protein is concerened as mentioned quionoa is definetly great. Personally (from expirience of eating very little of it for a while now) I think that we dont need as much protein as we are thought to believe.

Yes you got it right in some way and to add at the same time this has just happened like this ,it came - as if life taking on a new shape. Much like a growing of a plant. It is an interplay. I hear what you are saying about pain constructions. What I found out my own way that for me pain was kind of sweet(it is easy to say now, but hard to find out and especially admit)and that is the reason why I constructed more of it , it made me feel and that was the all I knew, something familiar, what I was born with and what others around me expirienced too to a degree. When I overdosed on pain and couldnt take any more and seriously said 'OK , now I had enough 'I saw that pain was actually a helper in a way that created so much psychic pressure that is needed for any big character change to take place. All this for me is much about tuning and finding logical answers to situation and not to life. Tuning rules. You have said that some traditions say the issue is 'separation' and cutting off at the root. Could be also one way of looking at it, not sure either how it would work.Becouse the beat goes on, what do you do with a root that is cut off?And also cutting sounds like such a heavy work , I already work 5,6 days a week and that is too much , so I definetley prefer to take the more relaxing route.

Yes and no. Who is this I? This is very philosophical now haha and I mean it deeply not just to be anal. What I used to percive as me is not satisfying as it used to be, it become boring ,stale and rigid. Everything is exchanging and sharing, interacting constantly on many levels ,we are doing it now too. This is fresh , satisfying and constantly renewing way of being. At this point my life is for giving away, sharing and having satisfying relationship with everything (from the air that I breed ,shoes that I wear, people I meet, food I take, wind I hear..). Dont want to hold anything. Just doing as needs to be done according to situation. So you see it is for me in a way , but its not. This as everything I say is subject to change whenever that may or may not occur, I am no authority on anything . ......... Here is my exorcist story as it is not something common for most of us. This year I was for the first time at my friends house when he performed exorcisam on one of his patient. He told about it being main thing why people come to him , but somehow I thought that he is just a respected traditional Muslim doctor/healer really and the rest is just a superstision. I was sitting in the other room and wasnt aware of what is happening when exorcisam started, and oh my god -its so freaky! Not something Id like to expirience daily. I had some chats with him about this stuff and some other wiredo stuff (like spirit catching for example)and he was saying interesting stuff that more powerfull (strong) one is spiritually that more powerfull negative beings/forces get attracted and how for example Satan and his forces start to notice you only as you grow spiritually. So in a way we are constantly put against something, and in a way that is only way to exist .That is life. He said (as CT pointed too in earlier post)that compassion is best protection. It was an interesting and is always interesting to hear those exorcist ,another world stories from him.
  9. Energy protection and Spiritual warfare

Hello Creation, Joining in converstaion.. I have had a period of intense closeness due to me getting emotionally hurt in childhood etc.At that time I COULD NOT cultivate loving-kindness, it actually repelled me as the world seemed a very cruel place. What helped me is learning to wait and stay with whatever is happening. Practising tolerance and adapting and always just kept daily doing my practise. Acknowledging that life is play of light and darkness and realising the craving for light and happines which is imbalance in itsself. What seemed a thick wall that could neither be broken ,climbed or flight over has dissapered, dissolved little by little whilst I was waiting and watching the life being life. When I started to be OK with waiting seriously and deeply without care for the outcomes the wall started to crumble. This was to point that there are other ways and everyone can find one best suited for themselves. Demons. A friend had a book called The Sky Dancer about Lady Yeshe Tsogyal and I read bits of it. The part I have read about 15 years ago stuck in my head so deeply and served me as first aid wisdom in many situations. It was how in her practises she is letting all the demons through her, she doesent fight them. I thought how can she do like this? This is crazy? This pondering led me to some deeper understandings within. My life is not for me , it is for sharing.

  11. Yoga Sutras -- Chapter 1

Hey people , found a good article on nature of mind according to yogis, and remebered this thread(should anyone be interested). http://www.yogamag.net/archives/1995/fnov95/yogmind.shtml I am not sure about mind from personal point of view, have not figured that one out , but at the same time have other things to deal with as a priority (dont know if this is an excuse or statment ) . Maybe we should have a what is mind according to you thread. Back to Patanjali..
  12. Favourite Buddhist Books

Some of the books I have found inspiring and that havent been mentioned yet are Ryokan:'Dewdrops on a Lotus Leaf' - I love Ryokans poetry , simple haiku inspired by nature and 'The life of Shabkar'/autobiography(he was a 19th century Tibetan hermit), this is one long book and it weighs about a pound and has been my good friend for a while now:).It is simply amazing , I found it at the local Buddhist centre library randomly and few years later bought it too and some bits have been reread so many times. It has a lot of his meditations and retreats , expiriences and insights , reccomendations and instructions for his students together with a refelection on the Tibetan society at that time which is also very interesting. That is all I can think of for now.
  13. horseboy(documentary)

  16. "Light on the Path" by M.C.

I can see your point about fellow Baltimoron practicioner and resonating, it makes sense . Just to make clear - what I was doing by writing above was not judging and trying to cast the stone or pick him apart ,but simply pointing out the fact that the guy lacks serious depth(IMO) and discussing my view(this being a disscusion board). There is a difference. Purley becouse if he is going to discuss the nature of the mind and keep on coming with examples as mentioned previously(plus some other stuff I saw further on), for me it is an important part and simply invalid and it shows lack of understanding at a very important fundamental point no matter what era. At the same time this is not to diss him or to say that there is no wisdom whatsoever coming through him and that he has no understanding. That I dont know as I havent read him enough. There definetly is some good stuff written too , so plenty to pick and choose from if one likes the flavour. I guess it is about resonating as manitou said(not only with dead guys, but with everything).
  17. "Light on the Path" by M.C.

Just had a quick browse through the first half of the first book. It seems informative , but lacks real depth and insight. Check out at the bottom of the page 32 where the author talks about lower and higher counsiousness and mentiones something like brute counciesness which can be found in animals and people of lower forms like Bushman ( !), continuing to say how some domesticated animals are far more developled than Bushman becouse their mind has sophisticated by hanging around us 'uber people'(not!). Further mantinong about that it is not only some savage races that has not learned to do their own thinking , but some 'civilized' man too. Some 'savage' races are far more developed , and moving in the rytham with universe than us civilised dried up instant potato, making love to the computer, work home work home work home.. nations. In my opinion the author got some good yogic info together , wrote a book, but lacked serious depth of a caracther (which would have been developed no matter what era )and understanding of basic cultural differences . Not to mention lack of real yogic wisdom .
  18. Beware the Mother's Curse

I hear you Tao Meow. This post speaks a lot. Yesterday I was reading something about how all matter is alive and anger of the earth.
  19. Yoga Sutras -- Chapter 1

Mind focused on its own nature is a very Buddhist approach. And just this very statment has been a centuries of dispute and discussions between the two. I get what you mean, but it is worth while to point that definitions differ between two schools of thoughts. Just for the sake of mentioning. That is all I have time to say , got to go for now(might comment on the verse at some point when back). Later, sun xx.
  20. Sex and Karma

  21. "Light on the Path" by M.C.

'There is the right time and place for everything.' Gosh it took me long to let this concept gain its voice. Acting accordingly to situation as oppose to emtotional drive or idea, hard to separate , but not impossible. I love what you said 'He would let the opportunity come to him'. This works wonders and is something that I have employed since always to a certain extent and has always been a great source of security. I like the mention of Toltec tradition above, becouse if intent is indeed on highest good - that is it. In that case even if there are worries they are not Worries. Highest good is a fantastic source of nourishment.
  22. "Light on the Path" by M.C.

Thanks for sharing dwai . These personal experiences and thoughts are very inspiring. Lets stop at 'darker, deeper thing lurking in the subcounscious'..and struggeling with 'demons' and in my case with demons and demons? . Not just repressing as with me ,but living in the dimension that none ever tought me how to live in. Dealing with that and some stuff that could be straight out of the fairy tale plus the rest of the transformation of the whole belief system . This life is not what we were thought to believe it is, it is truly a wonder.
  23. Considerate Christian Women Abort

Christianity had produced some deep thinkers who are not necesarry emotion-gripping , but have utilized emotion as their main tool in order on the path and manage to transform that emotion as oppose just grip. What I am saying that any way (IMO)has its gems however rare or prehapes even hidden(that I dont know , but it is an option I suppose). Also it should be taken in consideration that Christianity in the West is very wide spread and common belief system ,the issue is much deeper than just a 'no brainer storyline ' you have mentioned. And it appeals to enormous amount of males too. I dont buy into the alpha theory , there is something to it but it is too limiting belief IMO . @Vortex: '.. Buddhism, a pretty drama-free, impersonal, "nice guy" belief system that facilitates DIY self-liberation - repels most Western women like household chores due to the lack of any tribalism, male domination or apex magic genie.'.. How we see Buddhisam here in the West is not exactly how Buddhisam is practised in Asia on large scale at all. I have witnessed Budhisam on a mass scale to be more of a temple going /devotional (in particular in places like Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India), definetly not a 'nice guy' religion as you mentioned .I have also noted arranged marriages over there still widley practised , as well as many people strongly adhering to the rules very similar to the Christian rules that were mentined in original post to keep women in place. This is another debate . What I am pointing is that things are not always as they seem on surface and cannot be easyly defined and categorised. And definetley not looked down at or brushed side as stupid , but met exactly where situation is at and dealt with. Shades and colour.
