Tao of Yi Quan by Jan Deipersloot The Power if Limits The Limits of Power

Look around your neighborhood for the parks or schools. Might be harder out in the burbs but there are the wetland preserves out there as well. As for your room. It's up to you. Whatever your comfortable with. I would keep things as simple as possible and not worry about calling the bat cave for special mojo, do what you intuitively feel is right.

What Does Yin Energy Feel Like? How Do You Cultivate it?
Spectrum replied to mwight's topic in General Discussion
yin and yang chi as they flow and exchange inside the body are far from relative or subjective experiences. There is a 100% chance that two people suspended in universal post will feel the same things, just in various orders of physiological experience. This isn't saying that they're internal dialog or structure is the same, it is saying that a core exists under the layers of kinesthetic patterning that is similar, familiar, and the mind body response to the most foundational postural load bearing creates a medium in which the the disintegrated mind-body integrates as a result of the practice. The question remains, what comes after the burn, after the tremor, etc... the way to answer this question is to practice. Chi Gung amplifies awareness to all the energy in your body, not just yin or yang, perhaps yang first because of it's active nature, and yin later because of it's passive nature. More should be said on the extremes meeting in the middle because the more active yang practice you have, the deeper your resting or yin practices can go. As for the experiential nature of yin there seems to me a few fingers pointing through the thread. -
Balance point on foot in Taijiquan and qigong
Spectrum replied to Cloud Tiger's topic in General Discussion
That's because the well won't bubble if all your weight it on it, it might hiss but you want a slow percolation... The foot is a supportive bridge, you need your arch to lift the kua properly. The heel outside edge and ball are yang surface, the inside edge and arch is the yin surface. There is a triangle between the heel and both sides of the metatarsals. The foot is a support bridge. When you sink your center of gravity align the heel with the shoulder (have a friend hang a pendulum off the tip your shoulder). S center line forms between the softsport to the perenium downward to just behind the center of the foot, but forward of the heel. So yes the heel is used in alignment but all your weight is not on your heel. And yes k-1 is a part of the equation, but all the weight doesn't go on k-1. The weight is "suspended". The wells "bubble". -
Be sensible about the matter. Sex is a massive release of energy at a specific point in time. There are other activities that collect and release energy, but none so pronounced / profound in the average persons life such as sex. Maybe climbing a mountain? Before you decide to practice with, practice without and see. My first instructor suggested syncing chi gung practice with your daily chi cycles (bio rhythms) for maximum benefit. Ie morning & evening. When first experimenting with your bodies most primary cycles it's beneficial to start with simple coordination activities and simply note your level of energy / motivation / inspiration. I'll reflect a personal experience here. As I have a natural inclinaton towards writing, I noticed at certain times in my teens I was so "inspired" by seemingly outer circumstances to prose poetry etc that I wondered why it ebbed and flowed. When I discovered chi gung practice there were times in which these seemingly "outter" circumstances were actually inner attributes being coordinating (sometimes by outter circumstance) to the degree in which... well... " the sum of parts results in something greater than the whole. " This would result in a physical task being accomplished, a mood change, an insight, an idea, a realization, sometimes even something that seemed extra ordinary. Most importantly here I would keep a notebook handy and write down or draw experiences, feelings and ideas that came to mind, this also made letting go of them during practice easier as I could come back to reflect later. What I'm saying here is simply to pay attention to all the contributing factors surrounding training. Not to obsess, but simply observe first, and guide later.

The body is a musical instrument. Tune. Play Songs. Attune. Play Jazz. This is the preliminary state to seek. It is ungrasping. It is brief and epic for many people. Isolated to the drama of life playing out externally. The mountain top. The concert. A worship service. A story teller. Drama playing out. It is experienced w/ religious fervor by the hermetic (performer) and follower (groupie) alike. When this state of flux (it is a field to cultivate) is experienced other states of consciousness previously known may seem "less than" yet even in the everyday moment there are little nothings that reveal the unseen. Seeking teachers and guides proves itself with advancement on the path. Addressing past mistakes with renewed aim. Time is not wasted but is a neccessity for our passage one breath at a time. Aim past the ups and downs, see beyond your opponent, look beyond yourself. There are wedges (shortcuts) that bridge the melancolic net. Everyone has ups and downs. There are perhaps not reasons, but more appropriately (non-dualistic) foundations and motivations that we push against and reach for while we are learning. Old patterns naturally drop away as new ones are learned (and practiced). Sensory deprivation proves useful in creating a feedback loop in which illusions are made to manifest, be they mental emotional physical trauma or safety patterns, will be (if you continue) dispelled using practical (practice) wedges to guide, redirect, interrupt or trick attention/intent. A physical training regime is a must to compliment spiritual cultivation through the natural ebb and flow of S. energy. The initial phases of internal training should occur in tandom w/ physical practice. As the body is tuned into its physical environment a repose is centered between absolute movement and absolute stillness, creating a suitable environment for supra-physical (spiritual) cultivation.

I wish every student had the level of motivation Pranaman does. I have a feeling as you continue your daily practice you'll have plenty of inspiration to follow everything you lay your hand upon.

Good metaphor. I remember one my sei gung told me was imagine how when you squeeze a balloon the air automatically flows/pops out the side w/ the least resistance.

The many stories stemming and returning to one. Individuals whom experience the drama of a lifetime unfolding internally, perhaps in a timeless moment, may choose to live their waking life differently... these are common truths that transform throughout mediums. -

heel or k-1 point for grounding& earth chi?

Feet like suction cups. Stand on one leg Golden Pheasant style. You will get alot out of this exercise. Start with a small goal of being balanced for 2 min. There is a triangle of support between your heel and metatarsals. The metatarsal bones open flattening out the front of the foot, leading to greater toe dexterity and weight distribution. The bridge or arch of the foot should flex, this will affect how the kua feels. Use a small ball to massage the feet. Bare weight on the ball while rolling it around under the foot. Easy fast way to relax the feet, will help you feel the ground better when you practice. The center of gravity in wuji posture drops directly down through the perenium to just behind the physical center of each foot. The weight is distributed through the heel-metatarsal triangle. In universal post. Shoulder width apart. Weight 50/50 for starters. Shifting L/R helps settle. Imagine hanging the upper spinal carriage from a string and relaxing the lower spine from mingmen directly downwards. Knee does not pass the tip of the big toe. Paralax adj. Using a pendulum for alignment this hangs the pendulum from directly off the tip of the shoulder to the heel. As you shift the center of gravity forward or backwards you can see the plumb line change using this pendulum method. This takes the "guess work" out of it and will associate a "feeling" with the desired posture. I was taught this technique by my first teachers teacher. Dave -

Trunk is dispensing sound advice. -
mb to "circulate" is like saying your watering the grass then filling up the bathtub instead of turning on the outside sprinkler. The relationship you have between wei dan (moving forms) and nei dan (still forms) release, accumulate, circulate and balance. wrap your hand around your practice and your practice will wrap around your hand.
