  1. Another Lei Shan Dao/Yin Yang Gong Master?

Sei Gung once said over dinner that after his first few years of training he no longer moved through thin air, it was more like swimming through an ocean of currents. I can vouge for the seemingly malable nature of wuji. Suspended, weightless. At times heavily flowing, sometimes, heavy yet skimming lightly off the surface. Relavent metaphor often includes the elements and music. The kinesthetic body does seem to float at times in empti space defined by wuji. Other times there is a certain thickness felt that I think earl montahuge described as feeling like "honey" flowing over his skin. Arcs, Spheres, S Shapes and Figure 8's : Wuji Yin Yang Tai Chi. These basic shapes that are followed in the gung fu forms and taiji produce a resonation pattern. This is like the feeling of skating that lasts, or micro circulations of water after swimming. Ie taiji pumps the water around nicely, circulating it if you will. In terms of frequency of cycles, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years and so on all bring with their perception the spontaneous transmutable qualities of that long term methodical relaxation and meditation bring. Insight into the natural state of being. Nothing more or less. The diagram sounds interesting. I would offer to the thread the interpretation that the senses (or our personal identification w/ them) uses up energy in a certain way that a quiet hands off observation approach to meditation resolves. By not "actively engaging" your dialog, the most natural flow occurs, even if it's a differently modulated dialog. (insert audio test tone here) By not attaching (the soul) to the sensory perception, we in fact retain within what is perceived without. This type of mental detachment from sensory experience is generally accompanied by profound states of mind/body connection during meditation that could paradoxially be described as hyper sensory, or sensory blending, mesmric or alpha state... but in the Practical vernacular, sensory blending for the purpose of tending and cultivating chi. Crazy people often dwell in these states of conscousness uncontrollably, or without conscious direction. Having a guide is crucial to staying centered while practicing asetic art. What is the saying i the Tao Te Jing about closing the doors and windows of the body in order to see and hear clearly?
  2. Masters & Sites In Beijing?

Wonder if you can find any taoist robes hiding some place in those markets? Also oxtail broadswords and daos are a good find if you can get them back through customs. The pearls it sounds like your looking for won't be in the markets though ehh? Spectrum

Longevity, Sustainability, Repeatability. Some folks may realize their inate nature as naturally as someone has a bad hair day or is inspired to write poetry. The ups and downs of life are natural. It's also natural for humans to have mystical experiences when presented with circumstances, or a lack of. The peaks and valleys on the path are natural for humans to walk. The views and vistas, the shade of oasis, these are natural guides for patterning our thoughts and actions. "Real" practitioners act as guardians of the most sacred beauty through the simplicities of perception and the subtleness of communication. Inspiration is so natural. It never ceases to make ones hair stand on end. Spectrum

Consider the possibility that you are patterning your own resonant field with the movements prior to during or after Pile Standing. We are living Mandalas. Knots of consciousness. Strings on the chords of humanity. Chi Gung, Tai Chi, Martial Art, Meditation, these are mediums to tune the musical instrument termed life. There are many illusions in the world in which the seeker should shake off their shoulders as so much dust. Many directions in which the treasure seemingly exists, but only one Way towards the goal.
  6. Zhan Zhuang and Da Cheng Chuan

Interesting observation. I notice this often when doing slow transitions in the 108. I can literally feel the blood pressure changes between left and right hemispheres of the body when the transitions are fluid, meaning that when the corners are turned smoothly and the weight transition is consistantly uninterrupted the body does what is most natural during unrestricted free movement. Flows. Once you feel what is right practice, you avoid previous errors more easily. There is a stark contrast between the competitive athlete feeding on the pack and the wanderer who flows steadily cultivating the infinite. Spectrum
  7. Zhan Zhuang and Da Cheng Chuan

I remember one thing about moving, place the foot, then transition the weight. That way the fall is both forwards and backwards simultaneously. Even movement that appears linear is circular. The calm eye of the center.
  8. Zhan Zhuang and Da Cheng Chuan

Interesting that this is the start and end of practice.... the foundation upon which we experience stillness in motion, and motion in stillness. Spectrum

Sounds like "Sung" when settling into WuJi for Chi Gung or Tai Chi Chuan.

Might want to add something about the dangers of retro-ejaculation from the HT "locking" methods.

  12. How do you learn?

Unlearning is learning. The most profound things I have "learned" seemed to me realizations of evident knowledge forgot. It seems to me a good teacher helps a student remember things they already know. Spectrum

  15. Philosophical (Ancient) Taoism is RAISINETS

You'll have just enough when you REALLY need it. My understanding is Karma is the wheel of the law, Dharma is your personal Work. (Buddhist)
  16. Seek guidance and motivation. Practice something like Chi Gung or Tai Chi. Consider every desire and feeling an altered state of consciousness to navigate. I would suggest Taoist emptiness meditation w/ abdominal breathing to build your awareness of your dan tien. Avoid practicing visualizations. Fixing your attention is enough. Accumulate and build off your personal kinesthetic experiences. You will be unsuccessful w/o practicing some type of Gung regularlly. Spectrum
  17. Taoist Levitation

Isn't it obvious? To live your dreams & dream your life. As more information is revealed a certain individual sameness is encountered in which fear is obliterated and the union of subject object congeals. The obviousness of not dispelling observations and perceptions from the process seems plain. To have preconceived notions is setting yourself up for failure in one way or another. The point here is not the fantastic sounding nature or levitation, it is the ordinary experience in which the seeker finds extraordinary. Taoist mind/body practices does its job in stripping away the ego of the practitioner. Deconditioning I suppose. True learning is forgetting conditioned patterns and returning to a natural state. Nature Mind. Yi. If the sensation of floating is experiences in sitting or standing meditation, most people leave these things unsaid or confide in their mentors. I think proper practice reduces the effects of inertia on the practitioner. I can't think up one thing that would help me feel better. I can do many. The simplicity of good a movement speaks for itself, the movement is the thought, there is no thought that is not movement, thoughtless movement... motionless thought. Peace of mind Spectrum

  19. The Gate of life

Exactly. Stop thought. It's simple. Things happen by themselves when we don't get in the way. There has been recent critisism on here concerning poetic stances in response to wordy posts. A rediculous notion concidering for many on here it's probably more important that they can forget about what is said. "Frustration" is often the result of unmet expectations. Visualizations about energy often bring these results because when the mental energy wanes, what is observed is very different. This empti state of observation is your starting point. I'm not sure what you mean by "moving slow". When I experienced a circulation for the first time every point was certainly "open", and was not occuring at a rate I could measure in mph. Since then if I try to force a circulation w/o letting it happen naturally through proper wuji, yes, i experience a "blockage... but that's not really a blockage... it's only a blockage because I tried to open when I wasn't in alignment to open, the gate has yet to open, there is more sinking and alignment that needs to happen, more relaxation.... One would have to experience both to know.
  21. The Gate of life

Thinking some more on the opening and closing of the gate of life, which I think happens spontaneously when you get down. That is the sign of true wuji. It's a spontaneous squat, these squat stances are universal in the martial arts and repeatably seen as the fight / flight response on any video. The fact that any cultural artifacts that remain from the days of bon shaministic activities the utilize these ancient primal positions of humanity, and claim to groom of cultivate the internal garden upon which they rest is worthy of my personal inquiry. That is the spontaneous edge that the seeker surfs to their own repeatable NOW. The frequency and path may vary through the forest but the state of awareness, the spirit of exploration, of true voyage through the internal landscape of universal story and mythos, the release of ego, the adjoining of parrallel dimensions, the relingiushing of notions for exitsential singularities resulting in further, deeper, sublter artistic circular expansions... staying fresh, where are the deep refreshing breaths found, and where are the short and powerful generated from... what happens at the changing of days of tides of the endless transitions, this dance w/ Source through which learning stays a constant. Who knows how many dimensions we see only a silver sliver lining of clouds drifting a way in which our thoughts ought have not stopped. To embrace the spectrum of experience as whole is the greater level of absorbtion the adept must make; to be able to learn something new, shift there, shift back, transition cleanly, unattached to outcome, ensures safe passage. As Musashi said. Michi. Internally when you apply chi gung breath and you have an instant healing machine charged with the breath of life pumping information in and out of the area via your consciousness itself. Once you touch upon breath you surf the intent of attention, not thought, the medium that thoughts travel on wordlessly. Intent. Yi. Yin. The deep upon which we wordlessly rest. The empti eye of awareness brings sense of senselessness. Silly me I forgot myself is the common place to start the work from. Circulation being the Gung. Good circulation makes you feel light after many days and makes changes to your shen; perceptions; permenently. Proceed carefully. With increased awareness comes increased responsibility. 22. The Gate of life

Jeez, long term? Fear? Reproductive Probs?, Energy/Digestion, Kidney or Adrenal problems? Any sensation of tightness experienced in wu ji would be said to be a blockage on it's way out. Any interruption in the flow can be felt. The one experiencing must observe. Bodily Inquiry Induces Answers to Be. Wu Ji is effortless effort. Blockages in specific points are alignment issues that are adjustable. Usually standing meditation will amplify poor alignment and make pain come to the surface right away. In some schools "buffalo plows field" is taught in conjuction w/ standing meditation for neutralizing the rear and front channels. Thus blockages brought to the surface through chi gung are worked through kinda manually via sunsalutation bending and folding of the body. Most people can experience an "opening" of their channels upon concluding a "ground zero" type of treatment where they are reduced to a puddle of primodial ooz. Acupuncture, acupressure or sometimes reflexology can accomplish this. "opening" a closed point is just as much about the line that point is on and it's relationship to every other point then the point by it's lonesome. If your practice does not allow you to open specific points as of yet then you must continue to thread the coins from the beggining again and again until your ready to progress. Practicing opening and closing your own acupoints is kinda what the arts of chi gung and tai chi are. If practice produces discomfort the acupoint inquiry must go on~! Spectrum
