  1. this thread stays all over the place, i like it. canadians,ex-pats, and britts chiming in, its great. i even wonder what sree would add to the conversation? lyndsay graham may be voted out next time around, so that ticking sound you hear , may not be the nuke stashed in charleston harbour afterall. i wanna get back to the 'tea-bagger' label for a moment. becoz tea party goers refer to themself as "jacksonian" (referencing andrew not jesse) and if they really were jacksonian, then maybe that is what we need ? but i will keep them in the 'little j' category, becoz i am not convinced they could be 'big J" i would dare say that no one would ever call big J a tea bagger, but i digress. (big J never digressed,,) big J put it to the banks, big J put it to everybody really, big J was a democrat. imagine that, but they dont make em like that anymore, we get these little j's instead. big J, if i had to define him> alpha Bad Ass hombre with the resolve that could not be denied, and he was the champion of the common man and he was the victor over everyone else>the elite and the banks. there are no such current type of strong character such as big J to be found anymore in america. little j's are a type of anathema and can be called tea baggers,,one big J is(rightfully) feared and gets the Job done. and if anyone called big J (old hickory) a tea bagger, i would like to be in attendance for that, front row ticket please the decline of america is due to its lack of strong personalities of the order of an 'old hickory' nowadays we get some little j's running around trying to make some noise. and the elite, the big central banks, the military industrial complex, the multinational corporations, and the medical industrial complex just snicker at the little j's and the rest of us too there is no fear from them of the common man becoz there is no big J
  2. What are the moderators doing?

aaron, "Stewards aren't a solution, they're bread crumbs thrown out to appease people." stewards volunteer their time and energy, selflessly, serving this community. i see that stewards are a position here that fall into the 'thankless' category. do you realize how much mayhem we avoid due/thanks to the efforts of our lobby stewards? do you have any idea how many hours and hours the general discussion steward has logged on here, dilligently volunteering countless and thankless hours? "Look at me, suspended two times and I learned my lesson. You will rarely ever see me post on this forum anymore. I know others who learned their lesson as well. Don't be so reluctant, Many of these perpetrators did far worse than me, I called out someone who was making fascist statements and revealed personal information about someone on accident. Both carried hefty suspensions, even though the second offense I apologized sincerely and did everything I could to make amends." maybe you can let go and move on from that. quit holding onto it. how many mods have come and gone since then? the lesson learned was not for you to post less often. "I think my mistake was believing that the bounty on my head was gone." i am missing something here, that just flew way over my head, whoosh, seriously? "I think the quality of the board has certainly declined over the last few years." we certainly have far more members actively posting now. more members posting and less mods than before too. quality of moderation? quality of content? quality of experience? quality of ? "I think making certain people who are known to be contentious and opinionated, who even have a history of bickering themselves," bickering is fine, but personal insults, belittling another member , and revealing personal information about another member is not fine http://thetaobums.com/topic/31825-thetaobums-three-foundations-eclectic-egalitarian-civil/ aaron, you know where i stand on fascist thought, controlling thought, stifling freedom of expression that is not personally attacking a member here , etc. ctiticism is fine, suggestions are fine, we have a comment box and any member is free to post what they like, in the way of criticisms and suggestions, my pm has alot of available space,, free to post whatever they like as long as it does not violate ToS
  3. What are the moderators doing?

taoist textual was stewarded by rene, and she did a tremendous job of re-organizing that section. but since she vacated it, it has been vacant, perhaps marblehead has been pulling double duty? idk i am not a big fan of double duty idea. i would like to see more involved. we are all in this together
  4. What are the moderators doing?

does taoist textual section have a steward?
  5. What are the moderators doing?

bka, is there a list of what areas we need a steward in at the moment?
  6. What are the moderators doing?

we have less than one steward per area,,,,,,,,,,, the idea is to have one steward for each area. "are they moderated the same as everybody else or do they get special treatment?" we are all members that have agreed to follow the ToS, a mod could also face mod action if in violation of ToS. "Would a steward automatically know he had been reported" i need a tech or steward to answer this, idk if a steward has access to report center or not. stewards do not go into the dungeon. i will avoid the hypotheticals but i do smile about; "It's a brilliant system. The space left behind by annihilated stewards will be all peaceful, like, and sort of ...radiant." but thats all just theory, really
  7. What are the moderators doing?

it may be a thankless job. but is is something that we took on, and we didnt take it on for the thanks obviously,, but we took it on becoz this community matters to us. i could never repay in 1,000 years what i have gained and benefitted from on ttb. so it is kinda my way to pay something back. modding does not stress me, even if everytime i return from a short break ,someone else has been banned. do we really want to silence voices that challenge us and push us to some new limits? even if it makes us feel uncomfortable? it would be exceedingly cool, if a few others stepped up and took on a vacant steward position.
  8. What are the moderators doing?

i happened to take a long weekend , the university had fall break, i came back a day early to check in on ttb's, more to catch up on than i expected.
  9. Finding a good guide / teacher.

i reckon that one must understand the experience of being in the box before they can truly understand and experience out of the box. and holding to a hard objective line and not allowing for the infinite possibilities of the wonders of subjectivity will prevent true advancing. one does not find the good guide/teacher. the good guide/teacher finds you. the good guide/teacher will actively seek out the student and find them. if the student is worthy and recognizes the opportunity,,,,,,,,,,
  10. Did something happen in Summer 2011 ?

and you coulda just came down and played some bgz with us kentucky bums. you are still welcome to do so when you get the chance
  11. Watching The Birds

ok, this morning a male bluejay when he saw me walking thru campus, really starting screaking at me loud loud loud and he wouldnt let up until i walked into a building. quaker parrots are cool and all.......and i didnt intend to insult bluejays. like i said they have always been there for me and i guess they always will be.
  12. Watching The Birds

passenger pigeon is no longer an option.i like that merganser i saw last week. but bluejays have always been there for me and more recently the crow. tough choice, maybe a quaker parrot
  13. Bamboo

i am trying to acquire some to grow myself. i have been growing a little horsetail for the organic silica, but the bamboo is a far richer source.
  14. Herbal remedy for Kidney's

    thanks kevin
  15. Herbal remedy for Kidney's

folks dont like cordyceps? i am curious about the caution of combining ginseng with fo ti? Li Ching Yuen lived to be very old and he combined them, he also sincerely played his baguazhang that he learned from a hermit even older than himself. i enjoy hearing about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li_Ching-Yuen
  16. What are you listening to?

i wonder if i even have to look and see what song is there hehehe
  17. What are you listening to?

speaking of johnny cash songs here is a cowpunk version, i think maybe he is starting to look more like buck? the '3 pears' tour is some reference to john lennon. john wore 3 pairs of sunglasses once? i know 3 pairs is a poker hand that you dont want to be dealt
  18. speaking of tsa and minnesota and kids,,,, http://gma.yahoo.com/street-smart-boy-hops-flight-las-vegas-alone-182450764--abc-news-topstories.html ""If it hadn't been for alert airline employees on our end, he probably never would have been discovered."" this is spinning(absurd) at its highest or lowest (depending on pov) they let him board a flight without an adult or a boarding pass.
  19. "The higher the ascension, the deeper the fall." still it is relative, living in a fallen north america with its abundance of resources wont be that bad imo, if the corrupt politicians fall deeper, it is better for the rest of us "Oh well I guess when the U.S. declines it takes down the whole world with it." depends "The tea party is doing nothing about the bloated police state. NSA, TSA, Homeland Security etc. Definite hypocrisy. Seems to me they are in love with it." rand paul and the tsa have that ongoing love affair, he also has affairs with homeland security and the bloated police forces, he also loves the use of drones against our own citizens,,,, NOT "i was in the streets against nafta 92," you are older than i thought you are--but imo this was a defining moment in policy that took everything on a new course, and how has that been working out?
  20. my 2 favorite kentuckians ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eziI4h3J0Eg
  21. proposal: Nei Kung subforum?

"Having an actual discussion about it won't ever be possible, at least not here in the open." interesting perspective and perhaps highly accurate. so why go forward with a sub-forum, if this is the case? in any event no changes will be taking place as of now, the idea i had(whatever it was?? things can fade quickly here on ttb!) is also on hold and will be not considered at this time
  22. i think the 9/11 is a signifier to many about this, however some signifiers are crafted ruses of mis-direction. from my pov from here within america, the decline and falling had begun before 9/11 event. it will be a long slow decline and fall as america had at one time ascended to great heights, whichever side of politics that you may find yourself on? both political sides are culpable in the decline and fall- to the level of highest treason-and so are those who sit on the sidelines and watch the decline, with their only consideration being only, how does this affect my wallet
  23. they probably bought a few hammers, had a vegas junkett, their usual stuff
  24. Art As A Spiritual Quest.

interesting ralis, who is that piece from? i was never a big fan of baroque and those dutch painters (except van Gogh of course--but even his dutch style, 5h1t brown toned paintings, i aint much on-then he moved to france!) but these brown tones i can relate to in the baroque, becoz of the widespread despair of the times. these colorless earthy browntones fit that age. and art should fit the age, with a few exceptions now and then,,,, but starting browntone dutch art discussion will start with Rembrandt van Rijn and i do appreciate the genius of Rembrandt, here in his 1659 self portrait; the pose, color, costume, and clasped hands are an overt reference to Raphael's portrait of baldassare castiglione implying that Rembrandt was the equal to the renaissance master Raphael. his melancholic look is a carefully contrived personality trait based on Aristotle's statement that only melancholy men could attain genius. i brought up the baroque becoz it is the bridge between the renaissance and the enlightenment//\\age of reason)
