  4. Fascism + Solutions

fascism never sleeps it is always creeping closer. silencing comes in many forms, the stiffling of freedom to express ideas/ideals/concerns/idle musings/different or unpopular perspectives................ flickering candles trying to grow into a warm flame are/will be snuffed out............ if you have a strong personality and/or do not quickly yield to authority--then you shalle be repressed-supressed-erased it can happen anywhere anytime

  8. Only In America?

i could enter cuba under some educational something lol, idk about reenacting the godfather part, but i agree the whole isolationist approach, is not what i would have hoped for. for whatever the reason, i think we will have to wait for a famous cigar smoker to pass on before change will come. we could go be neocubist artists

  11. in the last 30 years, the world has consumed 30% of all the available useful resourses, this is not sustainable. how long can this continue?
  12. We’re witnessing one of the most serious attacks on free speech we’ve ever seen ... and we’ve seen a lot. British intelligence officials recently stormed the London headquarters of the Guardian, the newspaper that broke the story about the NSA surveillance programs, and oversaw the destruction of journalists’ computers and hard drives. And on Sunday, David Miranda, the partner of Guardian journalist Glenn Greenwald, was detained for nine hours at London's Heathrow Airport, where authorities confiscated his laptop and cellphone — and forced him to reveal their passwords. These are not just overly aggressive police actions. They’re political moves designed to bully journalists and silence dissent. And the same thing is happening here in the U.S., where the Justice Department seized the phone records of Associated Press journalists — and is threatening to send a New York Times reporter to jail if he doesn’t disclose the source of a leak. This must end now. remember that traditionally during times of war there can be no dissent becoz everyone is rallying around their flags. We’re already seeing how these government scare tactics are chilling free speech. And it’s not just journalists who are feeling the heat. In the U.S., several email providers have closed their doors rather than comply with government requests for user data. A decade-old tech blog did the same to protect its contributors’ privacy. We can’t let this self-censorship continue. Today, the NSA is watching what we say.

  15. Art As A Spiritual Quest.

interesting observation zen nomad. of course the primavera predates the last supper by about 13 years. botticelli and da vinci both had a good understanding of geometry, i think you are onto something
  16. Art As A Spiritual Quest.

it is interesting that after class yesterday, a student (not me) and the professor went from botticelli to vermeer. the facial expression by vermmer here shows a more focused gaze than botticelli expresses. from primavera, that ralis rightly says is a spring time cupid seduction, so much is contained in this painting, the graces are circle dancing,i originally thought mercury was reaching for fruit lol, but he is poking some interesting clouds, zephyrus is abducting chloris, and the beautiful face of flora, and oh yeah venus is center and showing. platonic love and sexual themes are interwoven here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_rerum_natura

  18. Only In America?

dada a dada that morphs into surrealism i like these threads on ttb where one doesnt even have to look at or consider the title of the topic and just flow naturally with the conversation
  19. TaoMeow on Coffee

marbles i could use some of that 2000 year old honey crystals for my morning coffee. another thing i am picky about with my coffee is the water i am using. i reckon if i had the right mix of 2000 year old honey crystals, some choice arabica, and that wonderful spring water i go acquire from the national forest, it could produce a cup of coffee with qualities that would allow one to let go of their hatred for civility and maybe in that cup or maybe in a second cup, they could find that they trusted the coffee. i like hazlenut too and a sprinkle of nutmeg
