  1. zen nomad I think you went super dimensional abstract thought on me?? I am gonna have to think your post over lol @mpg, to be honest , some of the travels I referenced were b4 9/11 or not long after and it wasn't so uncommon, especially in the western hemisphere to travel in and out without having to show one's papers. I know things have tightened up for the entry/exit. I wouldn't necessarily marry someone just to stay in a country, I am single, but I could decide to move on to another country, so that doesn't seem like sth I would consider. my current reality; I am thinking of a grad school outside of usa
  2. !

i have a comment for the mods and the engineer ; ) am I first?? lol
  3. !

hey we got spell check now too?!!
  4. I wonder if anyone will venture into Detroit for those incentives? there was a time when many left the hills here to go find their American dream in Detroit,,,, seems long ago now
  5. zen nomad, drink smarter not harder. sometimes you have to adapt to the environment. besides I have entered and left countries without ever having been asked to present a passport, I do understand things may not be as wide open as they once were,,,,,
  6. did I say I did anything illegal? how much money did I earn? well, I didn't starve to death obviously and I had enuff to move on when I chose to do so. how did I find a place to stay? the usual ways, example> I rented a house. I found a landlord who had an available property. how did I earn money? you don't have to have millions like you suggest to do bizness. have you ever traveled outside the usa mpg?
  7. houses can be bought in detroit already for 1,500-5,000$. these are american houses and no one is rushing in to buy them or live there.
  8. The Chat-Meetup Thread

zen nomad that is very stealthily of you
  9. then i mustve just dreampt my past experiences mpg? they never really happened? i admit you are taking a more conventional and sensible(subjectively becoz it does depend on unique set of circumstances)approach. and that approach probably will fit more sizes than it does not. i am just saying there are alternatives and we all do not have to expect the same level of comforts/situations/expectations. not all the countries out there have the same exact laws(or strict enforcement of) about staying. even here in america there is an underground network of enconomy, the other countries i have visited also have an underground. there exist front doors, back doors, and trap doors. sliding glass doors, etc within a year i will have a BA not a BS. i have a passport. i dont feel i am confined to your parameters. i could even enroll in a grad school in another country, there are options and opportunities outside of the few you mention. i have friends in other countries. there are even bums that have invited me to come and stay. friends are a great resource. your initial post said to 'get out' getting out isnt so hard. i understand your perspective and getting out isnt what you are talking about. 'staying out' is. there is a difference. i feel confident i can get out and stay out if i choose. all the rest is merely details.
  10. these conditions may fit your current circumstances. so, you mightve stated it like: i've got to have loads of money or a job skill that is hugely in demand and a B.S., or find someone to marry me to get out. but mpg, it isnt always a one size fits all. some may see things/situations/opportunities differently and/or have a completely different set of circumstances. some may be willing to go without such a sense of having to have all the concrete certainties planned out. and even the best laid plans sometimes fall thru or sth changes and then what? we all have unique realities. some may feel what they need is a well equiped/stocked boat to get out. some may feel a decent pair of shoes is enuff. i have been to other countires without loads of money, or a job, or job skill, or a BS and i reckon if i wanted to have stayed there longer it wouldnt have been a problem. if someone actually thinks they are in a really bad situation where they currently are, i dont think they have to stick it out until everything is laid out perfect to go. snowdon didnt have everything worked out exactly but he knew it was time for him to go. sure, snowden has bargaining chips and skilz, but those just illustrate his unique reality. we are all different. some folks can adapt to new realities/circumstances. some are chameleons.
  11. Kundalini Thread

"Mods? At one point it seemed there was talk of an inner circle, with full-disclosed membership. That still in the works?" rene, that hasnt been brought up. but i do remember gerard had suggested it awhiles back. apech, another mod rightly pointed out to me that i was taking this thread off topic. so for now i reckon keep this thread about a kundalini thread, it is a big enuff topic for discussion on its own. i am sure those 2 other ideas will be considered/discussed. not sure of the timeline, we are doing a bit more reorganizing at the moment.
  12. we should all fly to the moscow airport? and ask putin to let us stay? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjYCW1BQC4Q
  13. i have several bottle caps and used up bic lighters how do we arrange this exchange? omg i am starting to sound like stosh!
  14. Kundalini Thread

"Apech had an idea for a section here for teachers to share what they can online, and for it to be free from the flaming, trolling, incredulous igorance, bickering etc which inevitably drives people away.. but it seems like a tricky thing to set up such a space." it is a good idea and like you say, it will be tricky to set up. i feel the current mods have kept this idea alive and have been taking care of other house keeping matters, i.e. placing the stewards. i appreciate the input and insight from the former mods and other members. we do agree that we cannot put ourself as an expert endorsing particular teachers or schools. as individual members we can express freely our opinions/experiences about certain teachers/schools. i look at the(imo) success of the flying phoenix thread as an example of how this could work here on ttb. i also agree about the 'front of the house' concept. as much as i do enjoy the 'wild west' attitude of free exchange here, and there have been gems and nuggets show up from time to time out in open forum. it is those unexpected pms from members i didnt even know existed here, that kept me hanging around when i thought i could use a break from the trollish bickerings. there has been a lot of change on this board since i arrived. have we found the perfect model? of course not. with sincere efforts we can continue to make this the community we all belong at.
  15. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

just a random quote from a random member on a random thread here on ttb. it is often suggested here by many to many (maybe not so directly?) and yet this time it is expressed, maybe like an english subtitle from some random b rate saturday morning kung fu flick "You obviously have not studied real Taoism!"
  16. supreme virtue = powerful right? one has to have power before they could extend mercy, is an example. and some do without giving it a second thought.
  17. if there is a most powerful person in the world (in the true sense of powerful) they may be totally unaware that they are such
  18. What are you listening to?

on a morning when i need to quit listening to skydog even if nothing else will work at the moment, yeah its , one of those--- duane, please leave now, i need to get on with my day
  19. Tao In Agriculture-Natural Farming

the pumpkin seeds are good too pfl, and the compost toilets i have been around smelled like straw. cool thread reminds me how fortunate i am to live in a forest that has had over the years many folks doing some of the ideas presented in this thread. i have planted many things in the woods , at times i even had to find cover - if the army helicopters were roaming about. of course i have planted many vegetables, berries, etc. and always on the look out for ginseng. me and lazy cloud took a little nature hike the other day 3 1/2 miles, the final 1/2 steep incline and the weather so mild, no sweat....munching on some juicy blackberries was the perfect break. so this mild weather and very wet summer, fabulous growing conditions for whatever,,,,,,,,, i know some folks that can wander thru the forest just grazing along. if you wanted to join in on that, you are welcome to do so. there is plenty
