What are the criteria for threads winding up in the pit?
zerostao replied to ralis's topic in Forum and Tech Support
that wasnt a mod decision fyi the being able to start a thread in the pit, or more correctly, not being able to start a thread in the pit -
"or I will be unable to continuing posting on this thread." as per your request (for now at least) i am 'not about; trying to supress expression of ideas.

ok maybe he did eat some of the chrome yellow and cobalt blue paint,,,,none the less, i stick to my view of van Gogh
-
went insane? well he always did display sincere authentic emotional honesty and those around him certainly did not. van Gogh was certainly aware of the turbulence that surrounded him , he could even see it. insane? or just at a higher level of awareness, insight, and compassion than the rest of us?

time is art and we are all doing time. creative energy expressed with sincerity and integrity (true and authentic) is always good stuff.

The decline and eventual fall of the USA as world superpower?
zerostao replied to Formless Tao's topic in The Rabbit Hole
maybe start with solar panel systems for the masses.(or any new energy tech) there are school buildings in kentucky that are generating more electricity than they are consuming. -

"I myself am Fire Dragon, Wood Tiger, Fire Snake, and Metal Monkey...there are also Yin/Yang polarities...I think my dragon and snake are Yang, my Tiger is Yin, and I don't remember the Monkey..." ah yes, that explains it

certainly spiritual can be found within the mundane. what isnt sacred? the Op is about visual art and not about brushing your teeth.

The decline and eventual fall of the USA as world superpower?

every piece of mail you receive has had the adress label of the sender photgraphed and stored into some bulk holding place that seems to be the way the governments runs it bizness anymore. i saw the article too and i didnt find when this practice actually began. -
ok, sure when i first saw duchamps mona lisa i snickered but does that make it art? does the artist use a brush that gives us very broad strokes, or, is it a finer brush, one like dali used , that put you in awe, that is a truer definition of art? so the spirit of the age, the ideal, the idea and the energy contained in that age is what defines art really. napolean on the horse, the landscape wasnt the focus. the alps are majestic and all that, but it was the ideal of napolean that captured the spirit of that age. when the painting was produced it was hoped that the chap on the horse would be the liberator and the sacker of tyranny. i am sure the artist was later disapointed in how all of that turned out. a hero boldly on a charged white horse crossing the alps to over turn tryanny was the ideal of the art.

i understand the spirit of the dadaist especially for their time. they were frustrated and understanably so as the world wide madness of that time was about to descend into the depths of hell of WW! in europe so i can see them dissing the establishment of their time but why diss on art from another age?
-
simple jacks contributions here are kinda in the flavor of dadaism and the dadaist , some of them , offered some merit, others imo not so much penciling in a moustache on the mona lisa imo isnt art it is more a statement that art shoudnt be looked at in the way the OP presents it so as i much appreciate tristan tzara's manifesto ,(becoz it resolutes strongly with my anarchist ideal) i am not so much in appreciation of their appreciation (lack of) for art
-
art stays true to the spirit of the current age this is the way its always been we can each have our own personal favorite age some may prefer the renaissance and others the post modern age but we cannot go dissing any of them an example of how art leads science is when jackson pollock's work gained the attention of scientists and new fields in fluid dynamics physics came into being

from a different age, the birth of venus
-
art is the greatest achievement in humanity it is spiritual it contains the ideal it has its very unique energy, it expresses in ways spoken and written word cannot it almost always leads science into the next age

". This is an eclectic philosophy site, not a soap box to launch attacks." well said "We have people from all walks of life and religion here, when criticism becomes unbalanced, new threads against the same group popping up every other day, we lose members, prospective members and the board becomes a magnet for negativity." good point -
