http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn3JB51NH_M i reckon aristotle would call "my love was stronger than my fear of death" a fatal flaw altho it coulda been trying to ride past a dozen mounted cowboys, depends really

actually lao tzu says sth like when more laws are enacted the result is more criminals and if govt leave folks alone they behave better

But if the core is truth, why can't there be a Taoist Buddhist, a Taoist Christian, a Taoist ANYTHING? How many have thought along this pattern? In other words a Christian Mystic that allows Wu Wei is doing the same thing that a Taoist does, is she not? He/she is dancing to the same pattern, is he/she not? In that sense, I am a Taoist Christian Buddhist Zoroastrian Zen Shaman. In other words the universal truth from anything HAS to be the same IF it is truth. agreed, but your title seems a bit long and i will still continue to call you yamu, if that is ok?

i agree there can be and there certainly are american taoists. i do not think there is an american taoism tho, the closest thing to an american taoism would have been certain ancient american indians before arrival of europeans. Taoism is way much more than just about TTC and i do consider TTC a very important and remarkable contribution to all mankind. for me wu wei ziran common sense gets one on the way but there is more @asheskyler, which coal fields?

grandp, i am not and was not trying to refute you. i asked a question and am satisfied with your answer. (overall) and of course i am not a mod. and if this is going on; close off any seemingly dissident views shout someone down for making that claim then i can understand your annoyance. the qigong teachers who participate on this thread do have some loyal students.(who are quick to defend the teacher) i presume the loyalty is due to the teacher having benefitted the student. and i try to embrace them all. after all any Taoist practice or qigong practice or taiji practice is better than none. as long as the practice is safe. and in my opinion the vast majority of systems are safe and have been tested over time , i think it is great that you provide a centre for folks to learn silk brocades(a good qigong system) from my view the mediumship is also interesting and why pay for an ad when we can discuss it in a thread? each member here is free to choose what they wish to pursue, some have more talent in discernment than others, but it doesnt matter really imo
-
if someone is using this forum to advertise tgheir brand of qigong or whatever, why does this bother you? i have seen you plug your centre many many times.

either way Taoism is spreading thru the west. it is the wish of Tao that this is so. there will always be purists, traditionalists, there will also be pioneers

i only said roll tide becoz it was in north alabama that total strangers saved my 2013. georgia assisted, i cant leave them out. and a kentuckian and a guy from tennessee were my guides on the trip. so, a combined effort from dixie. they call alabama the crimson tide< call me deacon blues ha
-
"Their friendship toward total strangers is to be commended" amen brother, and how last week i was just reminded of this very thing. the help i recieved from "strangers" last week empowered my entire year, all i can do to repay them is to try to carry on their hospitality and compassion. roll tide

ralis, excuse me but from my view all politicians lie , even the green party, even libertarians, etc the words/labels liberal and conservative are used out of proper context imo 97% of the time and imo anyone who agrees 100% all the time with their chosen political party dont use their critical thinking too often. i do review you and joeblasts political rivalry on those threads and find it entertaining and sometimes informative. it is no secret that my sympathies are with the poor people, but i also consider the conservative viewpoints. just becoz you 2 have diametrically opposed political viewpoints does not make one of you guys any more intelligent or less honest than the other. its politics man.

i reckon i must be more of an appalachian taoist rather than an american taoist, becoz; "Frugality is for people who are fearful" this is certainly flawed thinking. frugality takes courage, i used to be frugal, then i took it to another level and became frugile. i believe in abundance also but owning material stuff isnt too appealing to me. frugality is one way that i found freedom, materialism is a form of slavery. "American females are battle-axes" wtf lmao , obvious issues to deal with with this one. females are welcome in appalchian taoism. " But what, you ask, is the fundamental source of American Taoism? It turns out to be that uncarved blockhead, Marblehead himself." hahaha i could work with this tho, i look at mh as a grandmaster but really whats up with labels? be authenrtic in your own unique being and true to yourself i do like the self-determinism and self-reliance ideas , kinda like emerson also appalachian taoists are huge on nature what i do see unfortunately are attempts to commercialize taoism, if that is what american taoism is about, then for sure i am appalachian taoist. edit> oh yeah appalachian taoism is keen on anarchy us appalachian taoists have trust in one another

try the appraoch of "dont feed the trolls" maybe that will quiet them down a bit. sometimes they are looking for the knee jerk reaction to their posts, if they dont get that, maybe they will lose energy.

i remember the thread and at that time and even now i dont see the direct connection made between anything said on that thread about undivided light being a proof that god doesnt exist. another thing comes to mind, i was looking at a frozen river this week and on the surface it certainly looked like there was no movement, yet just beneath the surface, water was flowing. i agree with you about the limitations of the senses. do you reckon that your view of light, where you say it doesnt move at all, may be like the frozen river, where looking at the surface there is no apparent movement and just below the surface light is moving.and even if we suppose that light dioesnt move, how do we get to the idea that god could create a moving light but not an unmoving light?

edit>i do sincerely wish you luck and i hope that fate and destiny are kind to you. i respect your choice , whichever way you decide to go. i am only suggesting you dont have to give up your dream

i wasnt debating or arguing with you or anyone else. wasnt trying to upset you. thought you were open to discussion, but; To be honest and frank, I am not interested in anything you have to say or any advice you have to give me, you guys are going in one direction, and I am hoping to go 180 degrees in the other i can only wonder as why you visit this site at all then. but really i could care less and running into this time and time again and you dont ponder for a moment on why this is? to observe your continual suffering and not at least reach out to you in conversation, is not how i roll. i never offered advice, only tried to offer an ear that would listen. have it your way and continue to suffer (needlessly) you have my deepest sympathies and pity but you no longer have my ear ,as i respect your choice, flawed as it is, i will continue to follow my dreams and mpg you do serve here to remind me of how extremely fortunate i am to have found Taoist schools that only brighten my life, health, understanding, connection with Tao and much much more that you will never know of and i am so extremely fornunate that i didnt follow some other school that causes deep frustration, angst, and needless suffering and always hold the carrot out ahead of someone but never fulfills any attainment. i hope that within the next 200 lifetimes mpg that you find something useful in life for me today is just another wonderful day in Tao i am not flaunting or taunting , it is just mind-boggling to me that some choose to live in darkness and suffering, it doesnt have to be that way. peace to you on your path and i respectifully ignore you now like you say you are hoping to go in a direction,in the meanwhile i reckon you are content to be stuck. good luck with that, there are folks on this forum who are truly on a true path and going higher and beyond. enjoying life now and breaking the cycle of samsara. maybe one lifetime you will recognize one

nice way to get your masters degree and cant go wrong with SFQ either.

Taoist basics unwittingly confirmed by modern science
zerostao replied to Taomeow's topic in Daoist Discussion
good to see you back around these parts stig, nice response. (i still trust Tao much more than science) Tao/Nature very closely linked for sure -
suburi , go with what resonates best with you. there is no one answer of which is the best qigong system. each of us are different, for many taijiquan is a great choice, but even with that , there are different styles with somewhat different results. if you know what your specific goal is, then you will find your qigong system. more money doesnt neccessarilly equate to a better system. sincere and consistent effort on your part is what will be required for success.

a true messenger of peace never comes across as weak and that is why the (evil) powers that be have to take (evil) action against one such as this. becoz they fear one like this.
