"the meditation is more precious, more effective, takes you much further in any martial practice," i agree. imo tajiquan can lead to enlightenment. but balance the movements and the meditation like yin and yang.

How long do you practice it? i usually do 10-20 minutes a day, altho sometimes 30 and have done 45. one side a day , then another another. I use 100/0 weight distribution. like a false stance? San Ti is really about building the body and the connections for further Xing Yi practice of course it also builds the energy i agree with franklin. i find it very wealthy in energetics.and establishing your root. And why the chickens, you ask? everyone should have chickens, and not just to watch them fight. here is another thing you can do with eggs, as one of my kentucky ma brothers shows here: wait i need to find sinfest's spoiler tag.

i heard a slightly different version. that yang luchan was a slave owned by the chen family and was the guy that was used in the demonstrations , or the guy who got practiced on by granddaddy chen. then when granddaddy chen passed on, grandma chen gave yang his freedom.

i only know about yang style. so i cannot compare to other taiji styles. yang style has definite martial applications. yang style has definite energetics, including micro and macro incorporated into the form. do other styles also have "grasp the sparrows tail" ?

define illusions. and "I though this was a Taoist forum?" define Taoist. maybe it is best not to get locked into or locked out of any concept based on our own limited perceptions? i didnt watch the videos that chris d was kind enuff to share here. whatever my view of those would have been, i certainly would not have dismissed them out of hand without exploring them and pondering upon them experientially

do all taoists believe in immortality and ...
zerostao replied to mile83's topic in Daoist Discussion
some taoists sought after physical immortality and while they may have fallen short of that goal, many of us still benefit from the qigongs and herbal knowledge gained. a few extreme longevity cases have been reported. for me, tho, true longevity is in the spirit realm. philosophers come and go, some are more concerned with death rather than life, as was the apparent case of socrates. -
you dont know how to store up qi in the long hair and beard? dont forget the cheap sunglasses either not sure about the jing aspect

Jay, just wanted to drop by and say, WOW seems you are up and going good again?!! i never had any doubt. coz, i knew that you had been given all the tools/skills neccessary. you have been very fortunate to had the access that you have to qigongs and Internal Martial ART. and i know that you have sincerity in your heart , which leads to success. so. you previously healed a liver that the medical community said would never be healed. and now you have recovered from having a ford ranger run over you, and as it was lifted off of you ,it was dropped again onto you. and when exactly did this occur ? and you are now up and circle walking and playing baguazhang again, right? and you have now healed yourself from extreme internal organ damage and also severe physical trauma, right? outstanding! well done! the thing about the internal martial arts i can speak of, tai chi, bagua, xingyi are indeed martial arts and they are also indeed healing arts. in fact one almost always gets the good health benefits before they have acheived the martial aspects of the art. and once they have acheived the martial aspects , they have also acheived the healing art as well. that is my take and experience on it anyways. Jay you continue to inspire, maybe some thought you were being given some tough love by some of your neighbors, but i think it has turned into the best possible outcome for all of us. i salute you.
