  1. Anyone hear from Satan?

i was thinking , surely not this ghost? then i saw the view count it was 6,166 as to the Op, i keep confidential conversations confidential and can neither confirm or deny. he aint rick perry tho, i am fairly certain about that

  3. Baguazhang, Cheng style Liu Jingru

i was speaking of the linear bagua from , not all linear forms. and i like the linear bagua form , i was just saying that specificaly to bagua, it may be useful to learn it from the linear form but at some later point apply it on the circle. if one is wanting to be a bgz player. imo xingyiquan is the best route to IMA for the majority of folks. i do play san ti shi, 5 fists and the linking form, i do not do 10 or 12 animals xingyiquan. as most of my efforts go into BGz and mostly circle walking. yesterday and into late evening the best taiji guy i have around here locally came by to play baguazhang. i have never claimed to be any expert on anything especially IMA's. not sure sometimes when people talk of qi manipulation what they are actually referring to. i am not high level. if i hold sword fingers 10 inches from a candle flame(not a tea lite but a 3 inch candle) and without any external movement , i can put out the flame. is this qi manipulation of some type? idk ?? if i use my palm , i can make the flame spiral from top to bottom and extinguish. idk. sometimes i do this at parties. i have friends here who can out do me with candle play. i am just speaking of my experience. i have heard a bit about wild goose , maybe you could start a thread or put in personal practice section, i would be interested to know more about those experiences.
  4. Help a Bum fund

cool thread. once again TTB rocks!
  5. Corrupt Politicians

i kinda figured you would diss on teddy r. did you even watch Night At the Museum? teddy r is cool. in spite of his ruff riding coolness, teddy r did not win in 1912. and a couple of years after that the world went to war. i am not against the top 1%, it may be a tough job, but somebody has got to do it. but billionaires with a 1% tax rate? cmon man. doing away with the dept of education? i can't believe how fortunate i truly am to have no need of govt, or money, well once a year i do somehow scrape up enuff to pay my property taxes. but i sense that the vast majority of folks do depend on a govt. to serve them all not just the richest. some days you speak of science and empirical evidence , then others days its dubious, does politics influence your view on science? i think even huntsman has acknowledged the science in regards to global warming. so far in my lifetime i have never found a reason to vote for any candidate or any cause. even when they had a wet/dry alcohol vote , i wouldnt vote. but this is my view, you have yours, and of course others have theirs. i respect your view and i respect the other views. of course gingrich and nancy were on the same couch, they both play the same game, using politics to line their own pockets. i may not agree with sarah p but i certianly do respect her. i really do, but i dont want her as president. but who? tough friggin question, coz imo we are at a very critical time. i just dont see republicans going out to vote for mitt or newt, to me they sound like ingredients for some witch's brew or sth.
  6. What are you listening to?

i see sinfest has blossoms in his title so i dedicate this one to him, i know he will just love it
  7. Corrupt Politicians

Joeblast, you know i don't have a dog in this fight. but i do find it curious that you criticize obama and fail to mention newt romney or mitt gingrich? gingrich who says he has never been a lobbyist but somehow managed to rake in 100 million for granting politcal insider access. romney won't attack him or even debate him?? well he might as he is due another flip flop soon. and we do know where obama stands, with these other 2 guys its shaky at best. scary was the word used to describe gingrich when he was forced out of congress by a 395-28 vote ,for ethics lack of, but oh , that was so last century. speaking of last century and gingrich has tried to play himself off as teddy roosevelt. but who sounded more like dear ol' teddy just yesterday? they called teddy a socialist way back then , i look at him as a really good american. throw them all out is a phrase from last century too, so far it hasn't happened. my guess is that it won't either. and have you seen the new ron paul commercial? well we do know where he stands too. can you really support any of these republicans running for the nomination? america deserves better than this crap.
  8. Adieu

aaron, have you already secured your teaching position overseas? i am curious to which country and did you consider the peace corps?
  9. nice link. i reckon i am hopeless as well. i am hoping the island i get stranded on is not shemya. an island with walnut trees would be cool. http://journals.cambridge.org/images/fileUpload/images/Walnut-study_ST_ANDREWS.pdf i wonder if kangaroo tastes better than white tail deer? if if does i could probably do the austrailia thing. or is australia out of play?
  10. Adieu

Twinner, are you traveling light? stay safe. common sense goes along ways. best of luck. perhaps you will find yourself at the right place at the right time. stay focused and optimistic. i would just go hang out at the beach and do some fishing, but that is me. i have confidence that you will do fine whatever path you choose to go on. i look forward to your future posts and tales of your adventures.
  11. 5 Elements/Platonic Solids & Kunlun Nei Gung

...however my personal preference is the Sun...so incredibly nourishing!! the right air and water too with herbs , it looks like you are already on a path, i would add licorice and white peony. there is a lot of discussion about taking herbs in one's youth however. sometimes a little dab will do ya. and some herbs work better for some folks than for others, herbs can be tricky. you might research tien chi and lu rong. lu rong isn't herb. one last thing, if you ever use goldenseal it should not be used long term. but if it is used in combination with other herbs , it makes them work better.
  12. Baguazhang, Cheng style Liu Jingru

yeah you can learn it in the linear form and for some this may be easier for learning purposes. i am not knocking the linear form at all. all bagua is fantastic. but at some point imo, if you cant put it on the circle then it isnt what it could be. forget about speed. be fluid in your movement. smooth.
  13. that Lu Dongbin dude was a scholar? if he existed or knew that he didn't is there any evidence ghenghis khan ever existed? i dont think they ever found a body to prove it. someone did write the tao te ching. it exists, right? Taomeow i love that new avatar. and i always suspected Marblehead was a boob loving man. mewtwo, you crake me up somtimes too. -K- you always inject reason into these threads! lao tzu was a dragon? it is well established in the chinese scientific community that dragons are capable of taking on human form. edit> i just wanted to add it is really great that bums like Cameron and Patrick Brown return and post here. the bums i didnt mention on this thread, ya know i have much respect for ya.
  14. the I Ching the tao te ching i do have a SAS survival guide that is very nice book this sweet place; island living and other adventures qigong empowerment information and the nature of reality faust a couple of questions Encephalon, there are islands and then there are islands. would my raven password to cambridge university library still work? is this like giligan's island? the survival retreat the new organic grower the largest poetry anthology i could find it would really suck to have to leave my Impossible worlds book behind. not to mention my book about shou yung. yeah shou yung is gonna knock one off of my list

  18. What are you listening to?

chinese bandits, beware the honeybadger. yeah back in the day when they had the bear bama was king crimson. now they are the second best team in the land, no doubt. but they are still tigah bait october 8, 1988 versus the auburn tigers, when the fightin' tigahs of lsu scored in the final minute to win 7-6. the crowd celebration registered an earthquake on the local seismograph. gotta love the tradition, lsu golden girls aint bad either
  19. Top 5 2011/2012

http://www.youtube.c...u/7/ZbtYsIRNNfA http://www.thetaobums.com/ collectively , each in their own unique way edit> it is hard to list a top 5. the ones i listed should resonnate with TTB crowd. top teachers of all time for me personally. i would have to include paul davies, john d. barrow, alan watts, terrence mckenna, dalai lama, lao tzu, chuang tzu, the list could reach 500 easily but if chris matsuo is looking? i did put him at the top! dang, i hope he notices that 2nd edit> Da Liu and i almost must put him at the top of the list. undoubtably a high level taoist master.
  20. Do Ya'll guys drink?

well, traditionally between thanksgiving (or haloween!) and until new years i slow down on the beer and get into the holiday spirit with some kentucky straight, 7 year old jim beam (there is a new devil's cut beam i havnt tried yet) or maker's mark or if any bum happens to have some woodford reserve you are cordially invited to drop on by. of course i have the longevity herbs at home to add to taste. even this time of year long neck bottles do come in handy, tis the season (looks for the smiley face in the santa hat??)
  21. [TTC Study] Chapter 14 of the Tao Teh Ching

i have to agree with you. but then it would just be too perfect
  22. [TTC Study] Chapter 14 of the Tao Teh Ching

i like this version and today it awe inspires me once again, that which you look at but cannot see is called the invisable. that which you listen to but cannot hear is called the inaudible. that which you grasp but cannot hold is called the unfathomomable. none of these three can be inquired after, hence they blend into one. above no light can make it lighter, beneath no darkness can make it darker. unceasingly it continues but is impossible to be defined. again it returns to nothingness. thus it is described as the form of the formless, the image of the imageless. hence it is called evasive. it is met with but no one sees its face; it is followed but no one sees its back. to hold the tao of old, to deal with the affairs at hand, in order to understand the primordial beginnings, that is called the rule of Tao i mean really,
  23. Baguazhang, Cheng style Liu Jingru

always good to meet another baguazhang player. there are a few of us here on this forum. imo we all need to meet up in person.
  24. Taoism and Politics

tao literally signifies a way or a road. the oldest form of character is comprised of 3 elements. (going back to oracle bones) respectively, a road, a human head, and a human foot. in my view the the road is the path in which the head(a ruler) and the foot (a follower) travel together along this road. may we reasonably interpret this as the leader and follower united in finding and traveling on this road/path? it only works with a leader and followers who have virtue and work for a common unity. it is well known on this forum that i am an anarchist. the road/path that we are on needs to be on sympathetic understanding ground.
  25. Do Ya'll guys drink?

"Obviously tea is great but this isn't the tea thread its the booze thread! " let me be the first to offer to buy the first pitcher of guiness you know , i live in a "dry county" where alcohol sales are forbidden. guess thats we got so dang good at making our own and it is good to know the bootlegger!(usually the sherriff's cousin or brother) lazy cloud is who introduced me to kombucha, then he asked me to culture a scoby for him! then he wanted me to provide him with the recipe for Cho Wa(another mushroom tea thingie) of course i did oblige him on that as well. the things i have to do for my fellow forest dwellers sometimes......
