  1. Do religious Taoists pray?

i reckon not. if i were to wear a robe or silk pajammas in this neck of the woods....my fighting skills would surely be challenged and tested unless there are camo robes available
  2. Do religious Taoists pray?

ah, you are correct , i am not wearing a robe. and if i do walk the circle with a sword, it is a steel one. but a ba gua robe sounds cool.
  3. Do religious Taoists pray?

hmmm " However, they do rituals by waking in circle ask the Taoist deities for gifts and special favors." and i had been calling this baguazhang
  4. Disinformation campaign

there are great gems all thru this forum. i do feel a certain kinship and friendship with many here. and i have never met more than a very few in person. this place is a meeting of the minds (sometimes spirit)
  5. Disinformation campaign

yep +1 for Stig. i dont mind getting knee deep in the compost as i love the fragrance of flowers. my feelings getting hurt? aint gonna happen. aint gonna feel threatened either. when i am wrong about sth , its all good as i ended up learning sth. that is a good thing. i dont take myself all that seriously, nor do i take you guys all that seriously either. discussion on TTB is the best i know of. edit>if i "pick on" someone , that is becoz i respect them and have an understanding that they dont take it too personal here. i only like to butt heads with the strong. intentional disinformation imo is insidious. i am guilty of the non-intentional variety hoping it leads to clarity.
  6. What are you listening to?

    goes good with baguazhang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoSz-9JkavI
  7. Desire

i reckon desiring the right things is alright. all desire is certainly not wrong. desiring friends is not wrong. to have friends, be a friend. desiring harmful or injurous or prideful things probably not a good thing.
  8. Is anything really objective?

PSS I think this is a critical part of looking at Daoism. After all what are they telling us but to see through our "objective" reality and become one with it... completely merged.... completely subjective.... the higher goal is to get to the moment where object and subject both vanish. No, I don't ever want to be completely subjective. I need to have an objective reality as well. Without it I would not be "complete". is it easier to look at others objectively, than to look at oneself objectively? Do Taoists have a concept of 'objective' as such? So in English anyway both have the sense of something projected. So both the idea of a an objective reality and a subjective reality are thrown or projected by arising from a reality which is neither 'ob' or 'sub'. The sense of an ultimately real objective (and hence physical) reality ... which is totally dependable, i.e. will always remain to be itself ... is as much a projection or 'pie in the earth' as opposed to the 'pie in the sky' of imagined totally subjectivity. how does that play in Danish? Soren, oh Soren. So what is Qi, Mr. Marbles? I don't mean to sound patronizing, offended, challenging, or defensive, but do you practice any form of Daoist cultivation? I think this is very important when it comes to your attitude toward objectivity. i have wondered this myslef previous and came to the opinion that Mh has cultivated in his own ways. evryone does not have tp play tai chi. tho i strongly encourage that. but afterall, we are all continuing to evolve along these lines or circles, none of us are completed . Intellect is of no use in that realm. i agree 101% truth is largely subjective. reality is higher than possibility. and with respect to every reality that is external to me , i can only get hold of it by thinking thru it. in order to really get hold of it, i would have to be able to make myself into that other, and make the foreign reality my own reality, which is not possible. so , alot of reality i must set aside over to being possible. or to a conceived or perceived reality. then again Mh could be a reincarnated chrysippus
  9. What is truth?

truth seems largely subjective. imo/ime i am aphrehensive about truth.
  10. Twelve Sacred Meditations of Unity

When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop, striped and dotted with continents and islands, flying through space with other stars all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty. john muir
  11. How to recognize Chi

ime i have had qi feel like wind , elecrticity, water flow at different times. i have also had pulses. this energy you talk about beeing able to feel it between your palms, i have seen between fingertips . sometimes even my fingertips and someone elses, and they also saw it. one time it was very dramatic. i think the mco is helping to convert jing to qi. for some it comes easier than for others. very related imo http://www.amazon.com/Body-Electric-Electromagnetism-Foundation-Life/dp/0688069711#reader_0688069711

  19. Ashes do not become wood again

InfinityTruth, " got a million prickly shit stuck to my shorts, spent an hour in my boxers picking that stuff off " the more you are out in the woods, the less this sorta thing happens " seen a couple of deer, heard a moose, seen two bald eagles, smelled a TON of flowers in a field," wonderful, eh?! where exactly are/were you? "Also I was scared to see snakes or possibly bears, wolves(I hate snakes)." well, before you see them, they have already seen you. brown bears? do you have a means for protection? CowTao Posted Today, 03:29 AM I believe ashes do become wood again, among many other things. It just does not become the same piece of wood that was burnt. Even in sentient bodies are found ashes, minerals, and a myriad other substances, all taking turns to reach their full cycles of accumulation and disintegration, forming and reforming endlessly. yeppers
