this thread deserves a timely bump from time to time. i was looking in a meditation thread but thought my post is better placed here. as already discussed in this thread , when we attempt to examine etymologically and connotative meanings of the word Te we encounter difficulties. it can be virtue or even moral conduct, innate qualities , power, or to observe the mind. in chapter 16 of TTC contains a clear description of what a man of Te is. it follows in progressive detail the process of contemplation, which is from action to non-action; a reverse of the usual course of psychic functions. thru non-action absolute quietude is achieved. then one see's their own original nature. when this occurs one interfuses with 11,520 things and becomes one of them. this interfusion is all embracing and all pervading. one goes to the void. chuang tzu says ; when a man is extremely tranquil then the heavenly light is given forth. he who emits this life sees their real self. who cultivates the real self achieves the absolute. heavenly qualities will come to your assistance. to have the fuller expression of tranquility which leads to enlightenment. intellection and reasoning need to vanish. these heavenly qualities described by chaung tzu is him speaking of lao tzu. who sat as a motionless corpse and yet revealed himself as a dragon. from profound stillness came forth thunder. to reveal one's spirit as a dragon is symbolic of one achieving enlightenment. the light that shines out from a being is spiritual. the pure light shining is the consciousness of the unconscious. so, i will say that for me Te is the achievement of enlightenment thru meditation. when Te is achieved one has returned to one's original nature. so the one who has Te walks without worries, and has attained a higher stage of psychic integration.

it probably doesn't matter if you choose to study it or not writing cannot express words completely. words cannot express thoughts completely. the measuring worm draws itself together when it wants to stretch out. dragons and snakes hibernate in order to perserve life. thus, the penetration of a germinal thought into the mind promotes the working of the mind. when this working furthers and brings peace to life, it elevates one's nature. whatever goes beyond this indeed transcends all knowledge. when a person comprehends the divine and understands the transformations, it lifts their nature to the level of the miraculous. it is alot more than an oracle. it reveals tao and renders nature and action divine. therefore with its help we can meet everything in the right way, and with its help can even assist the gods themselves. but if you are not the person the I Ching chooses it will never manifest itself to you.

meditation? not sure as all these qigongs, chi kungs, nei gongs, nei dans, meditations etc has different meanings to different folks. not to get into that again. but at all the martial arts places i have bummed around in, they all used the term "breathing and meditation". so my favorite breathing right now is this 5 gates breathing love it. it does increase shen awareness. My faith stimulates my imagination spouting zeal that gives power to my will and understanding, which strengthens my love allowing for the wisdom of Universal order to express through me and eliminate all false impressions of the human condition. kenneth catania had a recent article in scientific american about a peculiar reptile known as the tentacled snake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erpeton_tentaculatum their unique style of hunting, the same ambush works everytime the startle and strike method: on the hunt they curve their body into a J shape that creates the trap for the fish. it works on exploiting the neural circuitry of the fish. the snake swims alongside the fishy and sends sounds that alerts the fish's mauthner neuron which sends a signal to the fish's brain letting the fish know there is a predator snake to the left , so the fish darts to the right and right into the snakes mouth. edit> some high level snake bagua

just for the heck of it , saturday i stood in a pigeon toed stance for awhile. i put on a long music cd to time out. 20 songs. so the first 10 songs i had feet about shoulder width apart. the final 10 songs i narrowed my stance to hip width. also i was rotating my waist to the left and then to the right and letting my arms swing freely. i just focused on the stance, my rooting, and having a relaxed upper body . sometimes one arm would wrap around my lower back and other times it would not. i am gonna try it again a few more times. i kinda liked it.

Its very hard to get to that form of consciousness with a mind that does not know silence. It is so simple that it defies intellect. after getting bit by a brown recluse in florida 2001 and again in 2002, each year it was the month of may. anyways my friends called me" spider bite" for awhile but i made this offer( i said it aloud) to all spiders late in 2002 that i would never ever harm another spider as long as they would never ever bite me again. but if they did i promised to make it my life's mission to , well no need to say here. but so far so good , the treaty still holds. zero and spiders have honor. then in 2003 on the texas/mexican border close to del rio , while camping at lake amistad a friend of mine shot a tarantula with a m-16 a 8 month cat we had with us then ate the remains of the spider and then for about the next 20 hours the cat musta been tripping as it was running fast(even for a cat) up and down cactii even. then he shot a pygmy deer, not sure they are called that. but they were little deer. we were cleaning the back straps off of them when the border patrol showed up(2 AM ish) and asked us if we had heard any gunshots..my friend spoke up and said we were from kentucky had brought our rifles with us and fired a warning shot or 2 to some coyote the border patrol said "oh, ok, thanks" and they drove off. the deer was tasty that night..when the cat finally quit purring and running , he slept 2 solid days. in that desert there were also many interesting fossils. edit> i think conch is a fine example that almost anything will taste good if it is deep fried so maybe it was the spirals from mars, not spiders from mars?
