  1. [TTC Study] Chapter 11 of the Tao Teh Ching

good points. i do feel creativity is way to get closer to the tao. i am also positioning myself for chapter 39.
  2. Sifu Chris Matsuo

my main focus is with baguazhang. i do feel healthwise and energywise i am benefiting. knowledge wise as well. in regards to some of the knowledge DGS is sharing- i am not aware of any other master who is sharing this type of knowledge openly. feel free to PM me
  3. [TTC Study] Chapter 11 of the Tao Teh Ching

with chapter 11 i consider the basic groundwork for creativity. unity within multiplicity is it only here in our world that we are confronted with multiplicities and polarities? in the absolute realm opposites and diversities are interfused? we look at things from the point of view of their identity , then all things become one. to see things relatively is to recognize them in their diversities but in an absolute sense the diversities are reconciled in unity. all is one and one is all. as soon as one absorbs all then one interpenetrates into all. likewise, as soon as all absorbs into one then all will interpenetrate into one. this way the inner reality of multiplicity is completely interfused and interpenetrated and identified.
  4. Sifu Chris Matsuo

probably not a good idea. i have not seen the kwan yin dvd yet but with ALL of the others i have seen (18) it is the talking that matsuo does that reveals many golden nuggets. for me at least , his expression of the ideas has given me the clearest understanding i have received from any teacher. i have seen a few comments where someone has complained about his daughter running into a scene here and there. lighten up . a big part of any IMA is being able to relax. i know with the bamboo palm dvd , if i had fast forwarded to the scenes with the moves i would have cheated myself out of a treasure trove of knowledge. it is pretty much the same with all DGS dvds. if this teacher and this knowledge does not resonate with you then maybe find another one that suits your personality better the DGS teachings, the dvds, the emails, the phone calls, and chris matsuo and ray carbullido do come stateside each year for personal instruction.you can send them video of you for them to review and provide correction. in a very short time ( 2 years) i have made noticeable gains in skill and understanding - even life changing. lifestyle changing for sure.
  5. Do we have magic-pill-itis?

and find the changeless within the changes?
  6. thread for off topic re-directs

when the moon arises in the heart of heaven and a light breeze touches the mirror like face of the lake, that is indeed a moment of pure joy. but few are they that are aware of it.
  7. Do we have magic-pill-itis?

so , i can just pull up to the drive thru, while i am texting , order up some siddhis, enlightenment, healing capability, and a side of grand circulation with my visa card? but i need to be in some far off land, right?
  8. for medicinal use only, i reckon. Ko Hung in the book Po pu tze in the chapter called "Discussing the Immortals" Ko says: " The Immortals used herbs and foods to nourish the body. They used the technique (breathing and exercise) to prolong life, to prevent sickness from developing inside the body, and to keep harm from coming to the body from the outside."
  9. What is Tao

i like(d) this discussion too. maybe like qi there is more than one type of tao? maybe some of the ideas we brought up here were close to the tao or brought us closer to an understanding of tao? new idea about it tao > to unite what is seperated. reunion of life represented in the unconscious. it's purpose being - this reunion is the conscious life. the power of the tao reconciles opposites on a higher level of consciousness. this is expressed as light (symbolically). the mystery of ancient wisdom is a way to wholesome and harmonious living. there comes an interpenetration between man and nature. thru this interpenetration, things are spiritualized. this invisible process is the action of tao. edit>> becoz i think for us to realize what the tao truly is (mystery of mysteries) is beyond our conscious minds. i do feel our unconscious minds get closer to it. combining the conscious and unconscious ??
  10. answer the call of the tao

none of us are without our higher qualities of selfhood. many of us decline to accept the pull of higher spiritual aspirations. they are buried deeply under willfulness, desires, pride, and artificial intellect. answering the call of our higher inner qualities is to open up what is hidden within.
  11. if there is no free will then what are we? would that place us as automated things?
  12. How do you get more qi?

nice find -K- i just noticed drew hempel a few days ago. anyways. i have a question for the bums, wizards, masters etc is it always a question of more(quantity) qi or does some qis have a different quality or qualities than other qis? edit>> is all qi the same qi ??
  13. tell it like it is. i do feel there is a path for everyone. i know my path is evolving me but it aint the path for everyone.
  14. Walking Backwards

dang sometimes i have trouble bagua walking forward i may have to ask about this.(once i get the forward down) i used to have a daily practice of walking backwards on railroad tracks. i would still do it but here they came and took up the tracks.
  15. yeah the prices of many herbs i like have already risen 400+% in the last 5 years. any herbs i deem useful(especially for my use ) that i can grow in my climate zone/ conditions, i will grow. the rest i feel i need , i will be stocking up on. my goal is to be the best if not the first bootleg herb supplier.
  16. What is Thought?

when we enter into the realm of conscious experience we cross a threshold of organizational complexity that ups its own new concepts-thoughts, feelings, fears,desires/hopes,plans/remembrences, volitions.... how to understand these mental events are consistent with the principles and laws of our physical universe which produces them. the understanding of this has much difficulty. if neural processes are but the motions of atoms and electrons obeying the laws of physics, then mental events are denied any distinctive reality of their own. my own understanding draws no difference between brain atoms and electrons and atoms and electrons found elsewhere. so , this solves the problem of consistency between the mental and the physical world. however,if mental events are denied their own distinct reality (which reduces us to mere automated things) then reasoning is also denied its own distinct reality and thus this idea collapses on its own reference. so, an assumption is made that mental events have a distinct reality . but if they are produced by physical process such as neural activity, can they posses their own independent set of dynamics? if i decide to dance , how is it that my thoughts in this case volition, acts to cause a change of events and signals , triggering muscles and neurons which becoz of my will has my body to dance? evidently i will think that my willing to dance magically produces the required movements. so this phenomenon seems to have 2 causes. and i am not sure if science has solved this mind-body equation yet? can anyone answer this for me? so i will think the 2 causes are neural activity in the brain which is determined by the laws of physics. (as would be the case of any electrical network) and direct experience encourages us to believe that in the case of intended action, that action is caused by our mental states. relevant to this issue is the fact that our brain is a highly non-linear system and is subject to chaotic behavior. then there is unpredictabilty of a chaotic system and their sensitivity to initial conditions that gives them a whimsical quality. james crutchfield thinks that chaos provides for free will in an apparently deterministic universe. he states "Innate creativity may have an underlying chaotic process that selectively amplifies small fluctuations and molds them into macroscopic coherent mental states that are experienced as thoughts. in some cases thoughts may be decisions, or what is perceived as to be the exercise of will. In this light, chaos provides the mechanism that allows for free will within a world governed by deterministic laws."
  17. interesting 20 minutes or 45 minutes. in a standing posture 20 minutes is usually my idea. but then i may go to the next standing posture. 45 minutes to an hour is what i usually play with in any other specific game. i.e. 45 minutes of circle walking. or 45 minutes of iron palm/bamboo palm. maybe it is different for each of us? one size does not fit all idea. i remember when 7 minutes seemed like a long time to be in a static posture. and when i first started it was the number of breaths not minutes i was counting.
  18. Heart & Soul

just trying to plug my homegirl
  19. any prohibition of the herbs will drive the prices up further. prices of many herbs have been rising astronomically the last few years already. i am sure the black-marketeers will be happy to have the herbal bizness as a lucrative source of income.
  20. reversing age

  21. Lucid Dreamimg

J, this would get more attention in the taoist discussion section. it is a good topic for a thread. i am sure it will get some response if posted there. i dont think that many bums venture down to the basement often. maybe a mod could move it there.
