  3. of course the tao existed then, not sure about the "isms" but folks were aware of the tao. folks were practicing and cultivating. i think yellow emperor was closer to 3000 bce,(maybe 2700 bce) which would be older than 3000 years ago. the 3 sovereigns predate the yellow emperor.

  7. reverse breathing

reverse breathing does occur naturally often times. when you are laughing or crying are examples. it also happens if you are trying to push a heavy object. as it energizes the muscles to a higher level. i dont think it is ever a good idea to force the breath. i am not in any medical profession, but i would think reverse breathing is not a good idea for someone with high blood pressure. in my experience it seems that reverse breathing helps build up qi and also helps one to be able to lead the qi. a martial artist will need to be doing reverse breathing.
  8. Blasto, good luck with your recovery. the shoulder is one of those areas many folks have trouble with in regards to chi flow. with the vicodin, the amount of tylenol alone contained would be worrisome. my guess is, you will make a complete recovery. remember it is thru consistent practice, little by little that over time , brings great rewards.
  9. Heliosphere Somewhat Explained

it is really cool. good idea to post this in the basement i think, coz some folks go into shock that decades of good scientific work could be overturned in a flash.

  13. answer the call of the tao

"make the most of yourself because that is all there is of you" Emerson " all our progress is an unfolding, like a vegetable bud. you first have an instinct, then an opinion, then a knowledge as a plant has a root ,bud, fruit. trust the instinct to the end, though you can render no reason."

iodine is well known. here are a few others that may prove beneficial. ionized alkaline water, chlorella, modiflan, tumeric, ginger, garlic, rhodiola, cordyceps, melatonin. blueberries, strawberries, spinach and other dark green vegetables. i suggest from south america becoz ,virtually NO Fallout could cross the equator and find its way to the southern hemisphere.

  18. answer the call of the tao

i have enjoyed watching a few of your videos thanks for sharing. it was only the last year i actually heard of parkour, but i was researching qing gong. anyways i always did alot of running and jumping, from tree to tree or rock to rock, walking backwards with eyes closed along the rail of the railroad tracks. when i would slip into the town , i would go rooftop to rooftop. usually i made it ,ok, and i never dropped more than 20', that was about my limit. most often rather than running flat out , i was in "skipping along" pace.i didnt look at it so much as an obstacle course ,but more of everything is a playground. interestingly, you started about the time i backed away from it.at 34, no more all night under the lights basketball in the park or "parkour" . i still do some qing gong basics exercises. i also feel it was the physical first ,(kung fu, tai chi)that started my evolution. so, it was all playful for me this tao. but i gradually forgot about my tai chi and kung fu practices. then on or about october 13 2008, my realities were under going rapid change. without going into all the details, i will just say ,my entire world was turned upside down, twisted, everything i had worked for up to that point was basically lost. i didnt really worry about losing the material things, but also my health was failing to the point , i really didnt think i was gonna last much longer. all of my medical insurance, my doctors, their medicines, none of this was helping and my situation was getting more desperate. strangely it was crossing paths with an old adversary that turned the tide. he commented how really bad i looked and if i was doing any of the chinese breathing exercises? was i still into herbs? so began the next phase of my evolution. researching about the different qigongs and herbs that would help me with my health situation . no more western doctors or medicines for me. maybe i have not returned to parkour(yet), but i do feel stronger than ever, more flexible than ever, more confident than ever. my evolutionary process has me at this time living a baguazhang lifestyle. these are the good times, the good ol' days. it is taoist knowledge and practice that has restored my health and peace of mind. this winter i have spent many hours on TTB , what a great fantastic experience. i am about to take a break, perhaps until next winter. but i have been given plenty to chew on and to digest until then. i feel a comradery here that i have not felt since my air force days. i thank each and every bum here for all you have shared. i do have my kung fu and bagua bros here, but to be in the company of tao bums is a great priviledge.
  19. Your vote for the most emotionally intense films?

i would have thought the titanic would have been the first film mentioned or streetcar named desire, i guess they are just obvious. i also like 'once upon a time in the west' but i am just a drifting cowboy.
  20. Heart & Soul

so much hendrix i do like his version of It's a Wonderful World. i agree with R_V that today's music is rich, and some of the music she has shared hear with us , i have been listening to quite a bit. this thread started off with a song that i would label as 80's music(pop) then as now i was just a little kid, so , idk much about it but if i were to pick one song from 80's pop music it would be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBytH7ljp3c or was it in the 80's when i discovered stevie ray vaugn and steve vai.... The Call, The Cult,... doesnt matter coz music dances to its own tune. music probably cares less if it dances alone or if we notice. if we do notice and listen with sincerity then our heart and soul gets a little medicine. but being southern in a southern sort of way, (i did venture all the way north to cincinnatti a couple of times.) it was just easier to stay barefoot in 'bama, or florida. 80's music for me was probably hank jr. where is the emoticon with the cowboy hat? hat, shades, beard and all. but to me all music is blues ,unless of course it is jazz. when in Rome(georgia) the saying goes.
  21. Music, perfected, has no melody

"i got a song, ain't got no melody, ima gonna sing it with my friends"
