manitou, you rock. keep on shinning your light
  2. Do tree's ground energy?

oh, i trust/know/agree with what you are saying. i just wanted to see someone speak on behalf of the rocks i already knew your answer. i also agree that when "students" experience for themselves, then they know. and that is alot better than telling them. hey btw, good luck this upcoming weekend in terre haute. i know it will be wonderful experience for those that attend. i have many many friends in terre haute, behind the wall ha! i am just kidding.
  3. Super Moon March 19

qi flow ultra smooth. not a care in the world.
  4. Do tree's ground energy?

nice post ya mu dagon, walking clockwise will help you with your grounding. and i would do as Marblehead suggests, maybe go 9 circles clockwise , then go 9 circles counterclockwise. i wonder if ya mu thinks rocks are sentient?
  5. Super Moon March 19

i just caught a glimpse of the moon. wow,,, putting on my hoodie, heading out ya'll.
  6. Tian, Ren, Di - Heaven, Man, Earth

for me the wilhelm translation has been useful even if, it was translated from chinese to german and then to english. it has all commentaries and the ten wings. the forward by carl jung was very useful for me. i am probably going to get another couple of versions soon. but i will always also refer back to the wilhelm book.
  7. a friend of the dragongatesanctuary folks is a friend of mine

  8. What is Tao

collective soul? oh, that is the name of a band, right? collective unconscious makes sense to me. this idea is very very old. the idea of collective conscious has been bounced around by(in the western world) anaximander,parmenides,plato...spinoza,leibniz,schopenhauer.. twinner, cool thread. i have a question for you. if you substituted pantheism for the tao in you initial post here, you could have made the exact same post and it stay relevant?
  9. Do tree's ground energy?

i like the new avatar you are using. tonight it is baguazhang around trees under the supermoon or as my sister pointed out to me a perigee moon. she is a geologist, they speak in funny terms sometimes.
  10. Do tree's ground energy?

i have noticed that pine trees are territorial. big old trees will have a more refined qi and knowledge. some trees are more talkative than others, but that is another story.
  11. Do tree's ground energy?

maybe dong haichuan at first thought it was a joke? when he was further instructed now to walk around 2 trees, figure 8, for another 3 years. i wonder if taoist hermits and/or immortals have a twisted(sick) sense of humour? so 6 years of walking circles before he was given the form. traditional is 3 years walking b4 anything else. thank goodness we are not bound by tradition here in our western version of taoism(obvious hint to another recent thread) but it does show us how important circle walking is in the art of baguazhang.
  12. Do tree's ground energy?

cool, i am starting to cultivate those as well along with a few others, maitake, morels. even if i do not expect success with the morels. but in april/may i forage for morels out in the woods. you are growing in sawdust or in logs? no one was curious about what dong haichuans second lesson in baguazhang was?
  13. Do tree's ground energy?

if you strike a tree with your palms, as myself and many others do in my neck of the woods, i hope you have a decent dit da jow to use before and after.(otherwise you will risk injury and permanent damage to yourself) you could just walk around the tree with your palm held flat against the tree as you circle it. i do admit i also take bark from certain trees to use like herbs. i have heard that when Bi Deng Xia first started teaching bgz to dong haichuan, the first instructions were to walk a circle around trees , and when the tree moved against dont haichuan , he should report back for the next lesson. it took 3 years of circling b4 dong haichuan felt the tree actualy move towards him.
  14. Super Moon March 19

Everyone have a great supermoon weekend. i am gonna spend mine out in the moonlight as much as possbile, the weather i feel will cooperate. i may have to go out into the sunshine now as well becoz the songbirds here are really cranking it up. i suspect some mockingbirds and meadow larks are having a block party. i need to go investigate. peace ,love, harmony, health to all you bums.
  15. Do tree's ground energy?

  20. IF i am reading this right i think this shows a very good conceptual understanding in regards to "science". IMO some folks subsitute "science" to be their "religion". thus believing it is all knowing and never failing to yield the truth. In regards to belief of scientific evidence look here at 1,2,3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_proof scientific method look here at 7,12,13,14,16 ,24 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method you will also notice paul feyerabend's claim that the descriptions of scientific method have little relation to the ways science is actually practiced. Plato and his deductive reasoning according to carl sagan set science back at least 500 years. Aristotle is actually the one where empiricism came from and he believed that universal truths could be reached via induction , which is more or less an educated guess.or at least intuitive. fast forward up thru the 17th,18th,19th,centuries there is alot of debate about inductive, deductive, abductive reasonings, if any actually exist or not or if they need to be used in combination to be truly scientific. trying to improve on syllogism. einstein really doesnt even come into play with this thread so i wont go into him. even if many of his contemporaries do. my scientist, ace in the hole cards are hiesenberg and schrodinger but i don't even have to play those cards on the table either. i will play a joker tho, karl popper who is generally considered the or at least one of the greatest minds in science and philosophy and economics and well in the world of academicsof the 20th century .after his name are letters, and letters, fairly long strand of letters. anyways karl popper see93,94,95,96,97 . to summarize >>there is no method for ascertaining whether a hypothesis is 'probable' or even probably true. THAT SCIENCE IS FALLIBLE AND HOLDS NO AUTHORITY. further in contrast to empiricist views he WELCOMED METAPHYSICS and gave qualified support to myth and psuedosciences. i will point out on a side note here and of course it doesnt prove anything. it was an astrologer that called this earthquake before it happened . no one in the scientific community even suggested an imminent danger. so how can we dimiss the validity of a psuedoscience over "science" Immortal4life is right on with this thread. i have not looked at his posts in other thread. this is a taoist philosophical site(i guess?) whatever that means anyways? but go to a scientific site and try to make your claims in support of empirical evidence. you will go up against the science establishment , they do hold cards too. practically it is trial and error that can be trusted to give consistent view of the long run. alot of trial and alot of errors.scientists play a game of going back and forth disproving the other scientists. hey , they make money at it. its a cool game. so many looking at them as the high priests with all the answers.
  21. there is something going on about it. i think i am still on the sidelines too. i feel the collective unconcious is a part of it somehow. i am just not sure exactly how it all fits.
