MH thanks for posting tom t. i currently live in the little town he was from. so often it seems we dont appreciate what we have close by. i used to live by one of his songs(faster horses) he is a true genuine and honest storyteller. we are lucky he did not take clayton delaney's advice.

thanks for sharing. when zhong xuechao aka bing ,moved from wudang mountain to usa/in (2006)your area if i am not mistaken?! he said one of the things he noticed and was surprised by , is that native american practices, ceremonies,religion...contained taoist elements, ideals, strong similarities. he went as far as to say a taoist priest was practically equal to a native american medicineman.

baguazhang requires alot of time to practice. 2 hours a day really isnt enough, but could make do. would you have that level of commitment if you had access to a live instructor?

you are exactly right (imo) but i think some here will say yeah artists , musicians, anyone creative, more aware, sees things more lucid etc is dull, dull, dull

tornados sifusufi do you play baguazhang?

External Meditation vs Internal Meditation
zerostao replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
absolutely do both. @sifusufi, the crystal ball is supposed to be good for eye health, right? i like the candle. many old tai chi books say it is necessary to do meditation to get the full benefits from tai chi. -
The Older Generation has really screwed up this world..
zerostao replied to bodyoflight's topic in General Discussion
we are all born into a world not of our making. we are what we think. all that we are arises with our thoughts. with our thoughts, we (re)make the world. i think our ancestors generally did the best they could. it is a very few people who actually change the course of human events.for better or for worse. -
gerard thanks for this post and sharing of this message. i looked at it when you first posted it. i feel the first 3;25 is also very good . it shows his sincere genuiness and grace. did you say this is in nepal? i think it must be becoz Never Ending Peace And Love threads like this dont get alot of notice on TTB, thankyou that you post in spite of that. the message is simple being in the grace of love is highest attainment

chen tuan another great sage who loved to study the I ching. in fact he never could put it down but my random wondering here is > he is said to have created liuhebafa which is based on taiji, bagua, and xingyi. but he created liuhebafa before any of the others "officially" existed . the excpetion may be xingyi but still would have been about the same time it was credited with coming into existence as well. my idea is all of these styles have been around alot longer than people want to acknowledge. it is just they are always being tweaked or evolving. it was a very well kept secret about baguazhang existing as long as it has but not going public until the 1800's.

is there a pre -requisite or co- requisite for red phoenix? like, does one need K1 and/or K2 before seeking red phoenix? is it compatable with taijiquan? -

The Older Generation has really screwed up this world..
zerostao replied to bodyoflight's topic in General Discussion
every generation blames the ones before. not a new idea. yes we are in the materialistic age part of kali yuga. it is what it is. there was a book come out in 1894 from a yogi sri sri sri someboday. i dont mean to disrespect him becoz imo that book was supercool and very insightful. i just dont happen to have a copy here. The Science of ....??????? there will always be a small group of folks who yearn for more than mere materialistic trappings in this age. the next age it is said , the larger group of folks goes for the spiritual enlightened stuff. -

my meditation experiences are never boring ever. it is not like being put in the corner for time-out. i think it rather sharpens me . added awareness and focus. do you ever have some days where you think anything is possible? or things just flow easier? or , nobody better mess with you on that day becoz u r on top of ur game? while other days things dont flow so well, or maybe you cringe at the thought of someone messing with you coz , it just isnt ur day? for me meditation smoothes all this out. and i think even on a bad day, wow this is a good day. if it was a day that i did meditate, or qigong, or baguazhang, or taiji, xingyi, whatever it can all have a meditative state. i could focus at the flame of a candle ,( not merely staring at it)watching each flicker , how the flame changes its size, shape, colors. every little detail about its emission.how each flame takes on a charactor of its own.how the flame can sometimes look fluid,do the feathery flame edges look hard or soft? its aura, wow its aura how my aura can affect its aura. how this .......i cannot imagine life without meditation.

after i read the first post here and re-read and again. i realized that when i was 19 i had been to a museum/tomb of rumi in konya, turkey. and i enjoyed watching the whirling dervishes and eating the fine shish kabob. but i missed out on rumi. hey , i was 19 and on a weekend off while being stationed in the usaf, on the turkish/sryian border. it was a really cool place , it is just now that i realize how cool.in my defence , i dont think they had the poetry translated in english there. thanks for posting here, rumi will be my companion this year.

cool lifestyle>> do qigong then talk about qigong. some meditaion on the side great lifestyle really, . for me it was when i started doing more meditation is when i found more time for everything else. not sure if i said that in a way that makes sense? but i know some of you know what i mean. i dont time myself either.

being on TTB for a year. and so many great topics looked at. but i have been a little surprised not seeing much mention of native american views and how they harmonize with tao. i am also a bit of a pantheist (quite a bit)

i tried that going to the heart of the french quarter looking for mojo and soul, strings of beads etc. i think austin powers was there too, being the front man in a idk maybe funk with a hint of sludge? band. wasnt dixieland that is for sure. there were mojo doctors everywhere, cant say they are the same as the guys mentioned here....sleight of hand was everywhere. i may have even had a slight of mind experience naarlens

sure there is compression and a nice stretch. i dont try and force anything too much. same thing with tai chi and xingyi, same but a little diferent. i had to experience it before i could begin understanding it. RB helps me. compression and expansion. i keep part of my attention on dantien while i am doing my form and this seems to help build up qi there. there is another exercise drill set i do for the purpose of storing qi in lower dantien, but it needs to be done at least 1 hour at a time. more is better.
