It takes awhile to bake a cake. The butter and sugar are beaten until fluffy, then eggs are added one at a time,,,,, Hopefully no one yells eat cake at an inopportune moment. The road to the first Civil War took 10, 12, 15 years,,,, We've advanced beyond that now though, thank goodness.

More sensationalist hyperbole in the media. I wish it would stop. Pirro, out of empathetic compassion on “The View” informed Goldberg of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” then was verbally berated and told to "Get the F*** out of the building" by Whoopi. Pirro, also pointed out what we've acknowledged on this forum for years, that fascism can come at anyone at any time from a lefterly direction. “The anger of the left in America is out of control,” Pirro declared. “When we get screamed at even before we give an opinion, something’s wrong. ... Thinking you are right and not allowing debate is fascism.” There may be a seat at SCOTUS awaiting Pirro one day. I encourage anyone to write Trump with pro-Pirro for SCOTUS message. Hopefully, there is some exaggeration in there somewhere. Pirro says that this incident is a microcosm of what's going on across America. On the "United We Stand? Divided We Fall?" thread, all concerns of uncivil behavior based on politics has been refuted. Someone send a memo to Jeanine.

I like the way threads on TDB flow like a river, sometimes wild, this thread, which began discussing a monthly stipend, then it was suggested that is a form of rationing, another ripple and here we're talking about rationing water like they do in California. Challenges ahead indeed. Watch out for that waterfall ahead. Where I'm at the concern is a flood not lack of water. Jerry Brown has introduced "permanent" restrictions, correct? There is no permanent, especially in politics, or anything. Except for the Eternal Dao. Changes ahead, indeed.

Requiring people to work sounds like communism to me. Some forced labor BS.

At some point, Genex & the Millennials will implement the plan and tools that they think will work best. At any point in time, this is an option. It takes resolve to change. And while it is true that many who were liberal thinking in their youth turned more conservative later in their life; I have a feeling that the Millennials are going to effect significant change, when they are in a position to do so. UBI is a form of rationing. Systems of rationing have been used in the past even in the good old USA. If ways are found to produce an abundance of food and goods to meet the demands of the masses, UBI may be avoided. However, if resources become scarce, I see two approaches, rationing/UBI or conflict. Conflict is usually the course humanity chooses.

My favorite anti-Putin protests are brought by Pussy Riot, just when it seemed like Russia's soccer ball World Cup had thought of everything--- Good Job Putin! On the final day we get a gift wrapped up in a bow, Pussy Riot takes the field! Well played girls, well played Vladimir!! You know Putin has to love Pussy Riot, who doesn't?

If I am a Daoist, I am certainly not a religious one. How often do we see new people show up on this site and immediately demand the most powerful Daoist system to be revealed to them? I always find that so amusing on many levels. On another thread a bum mentioned (my?) passive aggressive humility, I thought I was answering a seemingly innocuous question that they asked and quickly found out that bum's question lacked sincerity and was laid out there like a trap. I stepped away to avoid further entangling. Getting that entangled on me feels so sticky, worse than the most muggy summer dog day with no air stirring at all. It makes it difficult to breathe. I think after a few years of watching this, I am catching on. There is a strong link between religion and money. The lines between the two blur and bleed over and for many money is their religion. And they equate money with power. Religion plays itself as power. I am not getting this about having to have money to live in a society either. That flies right over my head there. Somehow this idea is firmly entangled, and it does fit well with the rest of the misunderstandings (entanglements). Entanglements start off as merely twisted and then progress to where one is caught in it like a trap. Not even like a trap, it is a trap. A clever, cunning trap. I doubt this post is any help to the OP or anyone. Just disregard it and carry on seeking powers that religion and money bestow, and why not add politics, there is another path to power, yes, no? Dear dear, My passive aggressive humility is showing itself again. I need to work on that. However, you'll never know what power is by sticking to that path (seeking false power); I've concluded from my observations that the overwhelming majority of folks like feeling sticky and go all in for more entanglements. They get a tub of sticky and rub it all over. It's on sale now. It doesn't look like much of a bargain to me. Good luck along your path. If the stars smile down on you one day and you come to a fork in the road, my advice is to take it. It just might lead to somewhere that isn't Stickyville.

Yes, our Woman of the North. A few years back there was a member, I called him 5ET, name was five elemental tao or something close. Some of his posts shared remarkable insight that could have only been gained through experience or else a good teacher, either way,,what 5ET attempted was to draw comparisons from old nordic and daoism. He made some very good attempts, imo I think he referred to himself as a thunder wizard.

There are few saints to be found anywhere in politics. Saint Ron has a few things to say. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-07-16/ron-paul-mueller-indictments-triumph-deep-state https://www.rt.com/news/433420-ron-paul-msm-russia-enemy/

What a fantastic image, thanks for sharing windwalker. I won't offer to interpret, I am just kindergarten level, not even that, with this stuff. I will be looking at this for awhile. It does show that one can "walk the circle" by taking straight line steps that touch tangent points around the circle. Got any more images like this one? edit> removed the word "on"

That's true. I never have any problems with that sort of thing though.

It's always been a choice. Frugile, is perhaps a word of my invention meaning taking frugal to another level. An art form. It is kinda like agile in the frugal way. Maybe frugility is the better invented word. If I wanted to choose to have loose stacks, that isn't much of a challenge.

Money is a hard one to get past for most. They have been sold on the idea. One of the things that I am most grateful for is that I am not one of those. I have experimented with all kinds of conditions, largely without a starting hypothesis, just experimenting to check out what happens. I found that when I did have money, loose stacks, easy come easy go, life could be grand---sometimes though only for the moment. I later determined that was an illusion. And life without money is priceless, and I am far richer for it. Going from frugal to frugile is when one can place a feather in their cap if they're into that lol

What role does faith play in the taoist perspective?
zerostao replied to Boundlesscostfairy's topic in Daoist Discussion
Thank you, Steve, for sharing this understanding of faith and its relation to belief. It is the first time I've heard it like this. It is different than how I thought about faith. After considering this understanding, it is workable for me. I can work with this new facet of faith. I had thought that experience was beyond faith and that I was working a nonfaith-based practice relying on the experience of Tao Yin. Belief is something that I thought I had wadded up and tossed a few years back. I am laughing at myself, at the silly notion I had that experience led to knowing. Knowing is above my pay grade, and I like this new concept of faith. It feels good to have faith restored. Thank you again. -
There used to be a liquor/gun store in Lexington Ky just at the edge of town, that also sold wedding dresses. It was there until the early 1990s. Louisiana does have a uniqueness. CCR, a bunch of California lads wrote as if they were bayou folk. I've considered moving there myself. Considered lol
