besides, neither of us make economic policy do we? it's just banter on my part but a poor boy can dream, right?
  4. Socialism does work

edit>> remember you are the aristotelian (sp?) this is what democracy looks like!!! it is a more civil type of revolution, political, socio economic--- rather than the rationalistic thinking style that gave 1789

quantitative easing for the people has a nice ring to it doesnt it? i just read a bloomberg piece on the best way to deal with the next (soon) 2008 type of financial situation. and the rest of the world might struggle but in american and europe, things can be handled smoothly, If, european govts would scrap this idea of pathological fiscal conservatism and despite the resistance sure to be encountered the only viable option as being best is expanded fiscal stimulus including "helicopter money" oh, i just realized that the use of QE for the people in this case is different than the way corbyn uses it, sorry for that opening confusion apech when helicopter money (friedman) arrives in your neighborhood make sure to go out and grab some, it'll be fun!! much funner than this idea of austerity , that very same that led to the 1930's great depression, and we know what followed that. "The U.S. and the euro area could safely use fiscal stimulus again if they chose to. The proof is that long-term interest rates are low, inflation expectations well suppressed, and public-debt burdens supportable. Under the conditions of our thought-experiment, fiscal stimulus might even be debt-reducing, because it would support growth, and if the economy grows faster than the public debt, the ratio of debt to output falls." ok, now how is it that corbyn uses this quantitative easing for people term?

"Any more questions?" you know me, i ALWAYS have more questions heheh
  7. Let's talk about UFO

i wonder how it would work out if planet earth's humans came upon a planet with live beings who were a little slower developing technology than we were. like we found them there rather then they came a visiting us here. would we present ourselves as gods to them? would we be honest with them? would we exploit them an way that was to our benefit without regard to their welfare? would it matter if their planet had valuable resources or not in determining how we treated them? would we allow them to continue on their own destiny without interfering?
  8. Let's talk about UFO

to start a new cult(ure) probably takes a little funding along with efforts and energy the mirror looked cool but my university computer said malware warning so despite my curiosity (and lack of euros) i am not allowed to enter due to university safegaurds most likely the university does not want me wandering off into an ancient ufo culture darn it anyways
  9. suffering tends towards enlightenment

i wouldnt say karl is incapable at all. obviously he is here seeking something. he is putting up a hard rigid exterior maintaining his position, it is hard to let go. let's be patient and see how it all works out. it may take years. he will eventually come to a realization that what Lao Tzu said is true, that the soft always is able to overcome the hard. bend like a willow to the wind not get blown over like an oak karl is investing a lot of time and energy here, it will pay off for him and we are all learning something in the meanwhile it is another wonderful day in the tao

images are useful, symbols are better lanuage, words and any language is merely symbolism anyways, arbitrary at that. words have different meanings, a lot is taken out of context, the sender of the message once it is sent has no control over the message the receiver decides upon. a moment before i read this post, on another current thread, i resorted to posting cartoon images of a cute coyote,, one i can relate to haha
  11. suffering tends towards enlightenment

i think so 3bob, there is always danger, prepared or not, without risk what can be gained? and there are stumbles along the way, none said it's gonna be easy
  12. suffering tends towards enlightenment

that's a little harsh nikolai, karl certainly would not be the first or last to be told that in order to go forward and experience another level of understanding that he should first empty his cup. periodically i have to empty mine, even if it has a nice brew in it already that is working for me, it is still useful to toss it out of the cup and let something new or different be poured into it
  13. suffering tends towards enlightenment

i think suffering and experiencing along those lines is what leads to understanding and empathy towards others. allowing relational understanding this is why some shamans look like crap, because they have been thru it interdimensionally ---really thru a twisted wringer. speaking dimensions; if the universe is ten dimensions, i am not saying the universe is ten dimensions, i think the universe is however many dimensions it requires, but let's say ten, is geometry then confined to 3 dimensions? as was posted previous by a member. also maybe one could look at kaufmann's comments about the hegel dialectic.....
  14. Russian colony of the United States

i dont want to get into speech act theory or semiotics, that can be looked at elsewhere if you want to look at austin, searle, derrida, it's your time, it's a bit dense semiosis & poiesis >> the ancients told us about the ancients also warned us about relying on human "rational logic" distorted? or used to enable corruption? i am not stuck, i read energy just fine edit>> second attempt,,, the ancients also warned us to beware of and step away from "knowledge"

i like your post #64 karl, i like taomeow's #63 too. orwell was very explicit in a few of his talks, he felt that an american empire was a better alternative than a japanese empire. orwell was opposed to empire, but what can anyone really do. i dont find buddhists or taoists clingy types tbh neither some of the others you mentioned. taoist isnt philosophy, contrary to what some say here, it is about energy energy is the real words, sure, in the beginning was the word, we are told by those using words, from many different cultures, this always begins the same, in the beginning was the word, doesnt matter if it's the gospel of john or mayan popul vuh pink floyd tells us>>it's a battle of words before words is energy, energy is that which is neither created or destroyed yet it does transform words are often more than not lies energy is the real i can trust the ineffable it's hard to trust words, yes?

whew, at least my efforts have not been in vain then, you are finally coming around to what i have been pointing you towards.
  18. Russian colony of the United States

my view is it is "sloppy thinking" on your part there is a good answer>>we do not need unlicensed drivers on the road, and i say this, being a major violator myself, often driving without tag, insurance, license. that is in fact irresponsible and foolhardy those actions.
  19. Russian colony of the United States

karl, i enjoy reading your posts and not only becoz you are saying some things i had posted(using different words and phrases)on this forum in previous years. but my position is always in flux and fluid, where your's and caseys' remains unchanged. despite the fact that we are living in an ever changing environment, fastly changing in fact. thelerner made a very thoughtful precise response to your posts and you try and dismiss his post as talking to a strawman. i get why you threw the non sequitur at me, as i do wander into the abstract and not everyone can follow my logic. which i why i bring this up, logic, and your view of how you have a handle on logic. that is a mental illusion of yours. imo you are not helping your argument/position by trying to dismiss other's posts by adding some label, ie strawman, non sequitur etc, you have done this since your arrival here. it is annoying and aggressive i see your use of these terms as a lame way out of continuing to engage in a real conversation why not just drop this lame tactic? and keep up your sharing of your views allowing that there are other valid views
  20. Riding the Phoenix to Penglai

lovely image, thanks for sharing. and yes, i agree 100% about our admin, mods, and thanks to the creators of this forum, one that i have greatly benefited from and no reason to think that sorta thing does not continue.
  21. Riding the Phoenix to Penglai

i am surprised he has not resorted to his usual tactics of claiming that you said something somewhere that you never said at all. it is probably becoz you have too few posts now on this forum and it could be easily checked. once you start accumulating more posts--expect this tactic from OD. you have already seen his behavior and insults. it doesnt take long, for sure. I am glad that daeluin started a new thread i will check it out ---i wonder if the Wei Wu Wei section would not have been a place to consider placing the new thread? the only reason i wandered back up to this section (long poisoned imo by a handful of trolling hijackers) is becoz the thread was started by Cheya and i am always interested in what she is finding interesting. for some reason OD has been allowed to insult individual members and the forum at large ever since his arrival here. my biggest mistake as mod, when i was one, was not banning him, i certainly had the just cause,,he hasnt got any better from my view of one thread, well carry on OD, i will leave the section --you are free to troll, insult, accuse , and so forth, i reckon
