i stepped out my campus apartment soon after dark this evening and when i climbed down the stairs and came into the clearing the moon and venus were waiting for me, acknowledged me, and i them, then it came to me. it was ten years ago tonight when my dad passed away. the final few weeks i spent with him (and we had a difficult relationship) i would read poetry to him at his bedside. it was very surreal. tonight if i could i would read these 2 poems to him. you are right about being careful with the twisting, torquing, waist but i find health benefits from this. start slow and never force, gentle stretching. its coiling and uncoiling, and little by little and over time these slight compressions are good for the organs,, same with the spine including my lumbar. its alot about stretching and gaining fluid dynamics. big gains for me are shoulder blades and hips, my knees never better, can create vortexes, for me really fun stuff, circles and circles and never dizzy. sure it could be useful with the martial aspect but these are health benefits. edit> need to do it all properly and remember slow as you go starting off

i echo what trunk says about this video, especially the "simple and the surprisingly effective", i caught up with quite a few local artists in a short time , i feel, with this dvd and the bamboo palm. bagua sword, yes, and not trying to start any debates saying what is the bestest etc,,, bagua sword is definitely a high level martial art, and unlike trunk who has "nada" desire for the martial applications, i certainly do like and then there are those bgua deer horn knives....

mom told me this morning the yellow shafted flicker and a large red headed woodpecker were "sword fightin" with their peckers. the flicker is a larger bird than the woodpecker, and we also have the 'little" red headed woodpeckers visiting too, i mean beaks of course, and it was the woodpecker who left, i have never seen any bird mess with a woodpecker before, those "peckers" are serious equipment. also many silent crows moving about and posted up, not sure whats up with that. but i have returned to campus apartment, and over the past 2 weeks of eating like a horse without regard to consequences, i actually lost 4 pounds!! lol classes resume on the 20th, and my roommate returns this evening sometime, she gave me a little warning , she may have added a pound or two, lots of cobblers, fudge, etc and it is serious fasting time now, we'll see haha

@ mom's, where she has about 6 bird feeders of different types, and also gives corn for the chipmunk and doves, squirrels frequent also, and 4 different types of woodpeckers, every color finch, cardinals, bluejays, mockingbirds, etc, and also notice the robins did go south this year, the past 2 they stayed up here, a hawk hung out the other day for his meal to fly in, but today, it was speckled underneath and looked like a small pheasant, but the tail feather not long enuff to be a pheasant, and had a red ring on his head. never seen one of those b4 also had a black band above breast and a long straight beak best guess at the moment is it was a Yellow Shafted Flicker
