  1. The cruelty of nature

i dont much either.but i have learned that just becoz i dont suffer does not mean there isnt much suffering in the world, perhaps those of us lucky ones could offer a way of a little repose to the ones who do suffer. it is a worthy challenge, i think. last week i went to one of those events where a poet talks/reads about their poetry, this one spent the past 8 years visiting Trappist monasteries, reflecting on merton and thoreau, maybe 16 showed up to listen, and it seemed she was personally looking me in the eyes and speaking directly to me 90% of the time. she spoke of how she shared some food with a squirrel and how they each tasted the very same thing. at the end i said, its like we are all connected, she said,"yes, in the spiritual, and also here in the physical" edit>>the little things matter. little efforts matter
  2. The cruelty of nature

me thinks the appalachian possum is a very different creature than the aussie possum. ours are cute too ( but not the ways yours are) i reckon but with a meaner cruel looking cuteness. (not referring to either george jones or the possum queen that i used to run with)
  3. Atheism as a religion

i agree totally/ there is nothing supernatural regarding unseen forces, powers, beings, etc they all exist naturally. there are certainly other dimensions in the universe to what we are normally not well equipped to perceive. there is nothing super or special about those things except they are beyond our full understanding.
  4. The cruelty of nature

"all that rationally" nature may be irrational and thank goodness for that. it'd be really lame if nature went by human rationality. nature can be saddening, frightening, familiar and exotic. nature is unexpected, exciting, confusing in that we can experience bewilderment. its beautiful and deadly all at once. and in silent moments one may still be able to hear everything happening at once. the thing with nature is> we are not going to be indifferent towards it, there will be the joyous and the sad. depending on the lighting is what we are gonna take from it.
  5. The cruelty of nature

sounds like a wonderful place there anoesjka. we all go thru these types of funk from time to time and you will cycle thru it. sometimes may take longer than others, i can relate to your last sentence too. you are not alone.
  6. The cruelty of nature

watching a tv nature show just isnt the same as going out into nature itself. and Nature is also very kind and giving in the physical as well as in the spiritual. just step away from the tv and computer and step into nature. you will find understanding and equanimity
  7. The cruelty of nature

maybe venture out into nature a bit more.i dont know your particulars> how close you are to nature/how much time you spend there? but its all relative, i spend more time in nature than most and i have no idea what weltsmerzen is but i had some recent melancholy and spending a little time out in the local nature (woods here) did help.
  8. i like shakespeare and all but i think he had it wrong saying , "the first thing we do,is kill all the lawyers" the meaning may have meant something entirely different and there is much debate,,,,,, jump from the bard to martha and the vandellas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17yfqxoSTFM jump from martha to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_French_Revolution consider the similarities Wars compound the debt situation and increase taxation. Food shortages occur due to poor harvests and market manipulations. surthrival is the first instinct , is it not? are you going to trust the medical industrial complex ? http://www.aloeplant.info/aloe-and-immune-system-health/ edit wasnt there a stephen king novel? the stand
  9. "People young and old speak of a "new era" of civil disobedience for an already well-established movement, with young and politically engaged activists more willing to stand up for what they believe to be right." well not here in america, sigh ,but cheers to folks with balls in Hong Kong "WHAT NEXT?" "TRIUMPH OR JUST TROUBLE?"
  10. Liniments

there are some dit da jows that will send the qi directly to your hands when you apply to your hands. i would suggest buying the pre-made rather than the kits if you are new to this. there are hot and cold jows. some jows only for hands, some for fingers, some for hands and feet, some for overall body but do your homework and follow directions. these are powerful concoctions. an external linament for qi cultivation? idk there are wines and elixirs

  13. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

its a good song, there is less laughter during war. "everybody knows war" sadly that is true are conditions that different now than they were 100 years ago when the world govt alliances forced war upon us all. its the same usual suspects at it again.
  14. Water

http://en.rocketnews24.com/2012/06/18/are-the-people-of-evian-naive-enough-to-buy-evian-bottled-water-we-investigate/ the patagonia spring water sounds interesting. canada has some really nice waters too. http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/France/Rhone_Alpes/Evian_les_Bains-124500/Things_To_Do-Evian_les_Bains-TG-C-1.html imagines that some rover--ing bums meet up gather round the free evian water dispenser do some qigong and then go hike the alps.... once long ago, i had a job in arkansas where i shot off dynamite placed underground to get seismic readings, i lost count of how many artesian wells i blasted into existence then. im the type of bum who enjoys walking barefoot in the morning absorbing up the dew, call me naive i reckon

  16. i know right, and just becoz jeb would probably be better than dubya is no endorsement. we could end up with a bush vs clinton '16,, its a possible nightmare scenario. lets hope neither of them are nominated. remember i dont vote! so take it fwiw
  17. Is self defense egotistical?

i think self defense is very practical and fits into the self reliant/self responsible area.

  19. Freedom, the way out...

and then there is also paradox...anyone read "What the Tortoise said to Achilles" ? on a star trek episode they brought up infinite regression,,, postmodernists came up with their idea about the search of truth and now into the global age truth is ever /even farther removed. the ancients perhaps knew truth but where does one find an ancient to ask, and im not referring to our materialist mh ! even if he did say he never squandered his youth searching for truth. wise choice mh made
  20. Freedom, the way out...

"Shouldn't at least there be some desire to find the truth?" be prepared to encounter a heck of alot of irony

  22. Thoughts on Ukraine / Russia Debacle?!

i agree jb, i posted the link becoz it was out there circulating on the web and i wanted to show that. there is always the war of words going on. the battle is always fierce.
  23. Noticed anything strange lately?

i am too pleased that all the large spiders are showing up across the pond and not here locally. i think its been gradually been developing the past three years here, but this year it is , even more so, i think Nature is striking back at us humans and showing the nature of nature, however weird, frightening, beautiful, unlikely, enchanting, irrational that it is. here it has been weather wise a very cool year in my neck of the woods and i hear that elsewhere it continues to heat up. bumper crop here herb wise and not that many taking advantage of it
